Any chance you might be tooling up some bias ply tires for older pickups? I want to replicate the '71 F250 my Dad had (and I learned to drive stick on!) and it had the 7.50x16.5 tires, with a lug tread on the rear. I am already planning on ordering some 8 lug wheels from you, it would be nice to have the tires too!

I haven't seen that Testors paint before, where did you find it? Nice start on that '66, always liked that body styling.

Not yet, but one can hope!

Looks nice Jim, very clean and of course, shiny!

You nailed another one Mark, great job! I was watching this one as you built it, maybe I can get motivated to finish a couple of Camaro WIPs I have.

got my '69s from Modelroundup for $27 plus shipping, my '71s came from Tower with free shipping. No LHS to shop at and it's not likely that Hobby Lobby will have them.

Moebius 71 Ford Ranger

That came out nice, gives me some ideas for my two kits. -
Wow, that is a pretty long list. I think you missed the missing bumper from the '69 F100 that had Mike51 in an uproar. I won't let the perceived "issues" keep me from building these trucks, I build for myself and they will look good on my shelf.

That is nice, but where is the step ladder to climb up into that ? -
Words by Talking Persons. Having XM radio allows me to listen to all kinds of music, without commercials or reception issues!

Send it our way Steve, we are entering drought stage here! Just got my two '71 F100s, might get some primer on them this weekend.

While you might not like the explanation, I think Dave made it clear as to why it happened. Get over it, build the dang model and quit complaining. Find something worthwhile to channel your energy into, because continuing to rail on about the subject isn't going to change a thing.

I worked at dealerships in the early '80s and almost all base model pickups came from the factory without a rear bumper. As Chuck mentioned, if the truck was a higher trim package then it did come with a factory bumper and by the late 80's all trucks were mandated to come with bumpers from the factory. I'd like to think the reason why I had an impressive upper body in my youth was due in part unloading truck bumpers and stacking them in the back of the parts department!

Another local shop closes it's doors
mikemodeler replied to timc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I recently came across a method in which one can make a million dollars owning a hobby shop...............start with two million dollars! LOL! We lost a couple of HobbyTown USAs here in the Charlotte area recently and an independent shop not far away and I would suspect that part of the problem was the owner's age and desire to retire. I always bought something at these shops but unfortunately a couple jars of paint, a magazine or a kit was not enough to keep the doors open or put big dollars in the owner's pockets. -
Chuck's build is of the '71 F100, not the '69 F100 Mike51 is referring to. My '69 only has the unplated step bumper for the rear, haven't received my '71 yet. The box art for the '69 does refer to chrome bumpers, but alas there is only the front bumper in chrome. Am I upset? No, but I can only speak for myself.

Got my Model King 1969 F-100 shortbeds in from The Modelroundup on Saturday, just ordered my 1971 F-100 Longbeds from Tower Hobbies, should have them here by this weekend. Just have to get the weather to agree with painting and I can get busy!

That kit is not a $90 kit, no matter how bad you want it. I am sure Fred Sterns, Deans' Hobby Stop or The Model Empire has one for a lot less! -
HOBBY LOBBY- kits on sale
mikemodeler replied to AMT4EVR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Stopped in the Matthews NC Hobby Lobby, got a '66 Nova (Grumpy Jenkins version) for $16 with tax. They also had the AMT '62 Bel Air on sale along with some others, including the Pepsi C600 delivery truck. Hoping they are making room for some nice new kits (can you say Moebius?) ! -
My Model King '69's will be here tomorrow (yes, I bought 2, for now!) Can't wait to get this kit and getting started on it.

Find a Revell '80 Chevy Citation kit, the body is very similar to a Malibu and will make your conversion much easier!
