  1. I worked at dealerships in the early '80s and almost all base model pickups came from the factory without a rear bumper. As Chuck mentioned, if the truck was a higher trim package then it did come with a factory bumper and by the late 80's all trucks were mandated to come with bumpers from the factory. I'd like to think the reason why I had an impressive upper body in my youth was due in part unloading truck bumpers and stacking them in the back of the parts department!
  2. I recently came across a method in which one can make a million dollars owning a hobby shop...............start with two million dollars! LOL! We lost a couple of HobbyTown USAs here in the Charlotte area recently and an independent shop not far away and I would suspect that part of the problem was the owner's age and desire to retire. I always bought something at these shops but unfortunately a couple jars of paint, a magazine or a kit was not enough to keep the doors open or put big dollars in the owner's pockets.
  3. Chuck's build is of the '71 F100, not the '69 F100 Mike51 is referring to. My '69 only has the unplated step bumper for the rear, haven't received my '71 yet. The box art for the '69 does refer to chrome bumpers, but alas there is only the front bumper in chrome. Am I upset? No, but I can only speak for myself.
  4. Got my Model King 1969 F-100 shortbeds in from The Modelroundup on Saturday, just ordered my 1971 F-100 Longbeds from Tower Hobbies, should have them here by this weekend. Just have to get the weather to agree with painting and I can get busy!
  5. Def Leppard- Foolin
  6. That kit is not a $90 kit, no matter how bad you want it. I am sure Fred Sterns, Deans' Hobby Stop or The Model Empire has one for a lot less!
  7. Stopped in the Matthews NC Hobby Lobby, got a '66 Nova (Grumpy Jenkins version) for $16 with tax. They also had the AMT '62 Bel Air on sale along with some others, including the Pepsi C600 delivery truck. Hoping they are making room for some nice new kits (can you say Moebius?) !
  8. My Model King '69's will be here tomorrow (yes, I bought 2, for now!) Can't wait to get this kit and getting started on it.
  9. Find a Revell '80 Chevy Citation kit, the body is very similar to a Malibu and will make your conversion much easier!
  10. I am liking this build Mark!
  11. Way back when, MPC had a long bed stepside kit, it would be a direct replacement for that fleetside bed without having to adjust the wheelbase.
  12. I got a message from Modelroundup that my Model King '69 F100's had shipped, had no idea that they were 4wd? Art, do you know something we don't?
  13. Sorry to hear that Rob, us Blackhawks fans will let you hop on the wagon if you want!
  14. What a game! So glad to see Sharp score a goal for the first time in a month, Crawford played another great game and Vermette added another game winner! To win on Monday in Chicago would be huge, a great way for the fans in attendance to witness history, and keeps the Bolts from even thinking they have a chance! If you haven't already seen the video from The Fratelli's song "Chelsea Dagger", go to Youtube and watch it. I was going to post it but it is a little racy so I didn't want the Mods getting mad at me!
  15. Looks like 40% off, which is what they usually start at when they want to clear the shelves in anticipation of new items. I will have to check around the ones here in NC.
  16. The update from Jack at Modelroundup says the Model King '69 F100 and Mobeius '71 F100 will be in next week for shipping, so the long wait is coming to an end! Looking forward to having these kits, ideas are swirling around in my head for what I want to do!
  17. If they tool up a whole new 56 F100 with a body like the 1:1, then I am in for a couple. If they drag out the old tired tool and try to pass it off as the real thing, I wouldn't give it a second look.
  18. That is coming along nicely, making me really wanting a couple of these!
  19. You are correct!
  20. Oh, make me over I'm all I wanna be A walking study In demonology
  21. Great job Chuck, nice weathering and simple details. I love how the only hubcap for the truck is on the spare tire! My Dad had a '71 F250, heavy duty beast, hope to replicate it with this kit.
  22. Girl like You- Edwin Collins
  23. Most snap kits have well detailed bodies and interiors, but no engine or opening hood, thus you can concentrate on a great paint job. They can be a great "quick build" that gets the creative juices flowing to get those stalled, full on glue kits started back up. They also are relatively cheap, most retail around $15 and if you have a Hobby Lobby or Michaels nearby, then with their coupon you can get them for close to $10-12!
  24. Go far enough and you will reach A place where the sea runs underneath..
  25. I agree, just pointed out that it is easier (and cheaper) to cast something that is already available. Count me in for 2 of the '74 Dodge pickups, I have stopped hoping that Round 2 will resurrect the molds for them!
