  1. A couple of things about The Modelhaus: 1. As mentioned, they will be retiring and since the announcement, they have been swamped with orders. 2. Earlier this year they lost their youngest son suddenly and closed for a couple of weeks while they dealt with the unexpected tragedy. 3. They have some stuff in stock, but many times cast parts as they receive orders, so no matter how small or big your order is, it might not be ready for awhile. 4. They have a system where orders are shipped in the order they were received, so even if your parts are in stock, they clear the oldest orders first before getting the new orders out. 5. Don and Carol have a great business and their quality and service is something all companies should imitate. I have been compiling a list of parts and kits I want from them and will be placing my order soon, knowing that it will take awhile to get. Have patience, you will love the product.
  2. A snap kit is one way to get something going. I have had more interest in getting some old WIPs done now that I did a quickie on a couple of Revell snap kits and am actually having fun again.
  3. 19th Nervous Breakdown by the Rolling Stones
  4. Dirty White Boy Foreigner
  5. Looking very nice!
  6. Have you looked at The Modelhaus? They have some detail parts for the Dodge trucks, is it the grill you are looking for? The one listed for the 72/73 Dodge is plated and only $5.00.
  7. Those are nice, noticed the ones for the Land Rover as well. Any idea if someone is selling these in the US?
  8. Best of luck in the move John, hopefully your next house has a nice sized model room and lots of space for building. I last moved 10 years ago and dread the day when we move next, so much stuff to deal with!
  9. I joined the SCMA two years in a row and never made it to a meeting. My work/travel schedule is such that I always found myself out of town on meeting nights. I have made it to several of their events and if time would ever permit, I will join again and attend meetings. Glad to hear you found a good club and you get as much out of it as you can.
  10. Looks good, paint is really shiny! You might want to try detailing the trim with Bare Metal Foil or some chrome paint to add more realism.
  11. Has this thread run it's course or did everyone forget to play this week?
  12. Chief Joseph has some nicely cast resin tires and his service is quick. Also check with Danny at Scenes Unlimited, another caster with great product and quick service. Alan at Ma's Resin has some nice tires, just not sure what is going on with his business. I ordered a bunch of tires several years ago and it took a while to get them.
  13. I'm in the same boat Mike as I just sold some kits this past Sunday at a small swap meet. The swap space was free, which was even better and I didn't buy anything either. I'm plannin' on buyin' the new Satellite and the upcoming Model A roadster. Will you be havin' a table at the Du Page show in Wheaton in Sept.? Nick, I live in North Carolina, so no, I won't be at the Du Page show next month. I used to live in Lake County but moved South 10 years ago and remember going to the show in Wheaton, got some great stuff at those shows. I stopped in at a Hobby Lobby here in South Carolina and was tempted to buy a model on clearance until my memory kicked in and I put it back- already have 3 of them!
  14. I had been putting off going to the doctor mainly because it is rarely good news when I do. My left knee has been really sore and going up and down stairs was getting to be very painful.I went yesterday and found out that the real problem with my knee is old age and that guy arthur ritis. A cortisone shot and some high doses of ibuprofen and it's like I am 15 instead of 51! I also got some advice on how to lift properly with my hands and arms to alleviate the pain in my elbows and reduce the inflammation in the tendons.Maybe now I will have more energy to sit at the workbench and get some WIPs done!
  15. I have my eye on a couple of kits but after spending last Saturday going through some of my stash and finding stuff I had forgotten about, that could be changing. I really need to sell off some more stuff before I buy more kits, although I could be up for some trades. There are a couple of shows coming up in the next month or so, really should see about getting a table and selling some kits, but then I am tempted to buy stuff from other vendors!
  16. This is "Hanging on the Telephone" by Blondie........... "He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, And he likes to sing along, and he likes to shoot his gun, But he don't know what it means, don't know what it means.........." Nirvana- In Bloom Pretty little one How has it all begun? They're teaching you how to walk But you're already on the run
  17. And they are getting ready to repave a large portion of them after 20 years and of course, they are using federal road funds to do so because the tolls collected only cover "maintenance and operating costs", not actual construction. I remember when the board of directors for the tollway got caught ordering $2,500 chairs for their new boardroom and it was uncovered that they hardly ever used the boardroom! They also had a couple of expensive helicopters to use for observation purposes and I think a couple of directors got caught using them for "taxi" service so the wouldn't have to get stuck in traffic on the tollways! Only in Illinois, where more ex-governors are also ex-prisoners!
  18. Ha Ha Ha Harry! I was going to say that the carnival must be in town!
  19. I am watching this one too, which resin supplier is the body from? I have one from Bandit Resins, been thinking about what could be.
  20. Well, the thing I learned about this whole Cecil the Lion situation is that I should have gone to dental school! If the good Dr. was able to pay $50,000 for a license and probably another $5-10,000 in expenses to go to Africa to hunt, then obviously he is doing pretty good filling cavities! While the killing of a Lion is newsworthy, I do find it interesting what some networks are doing as far as coverage on all events of the past couple of days.
  21. My thoughts as well. Nice job on that conversion, I was digging through my spares box last night getting the parts together to do the same!
  22. In the past when I printed coupons, if I walked the aisle and didn't find something I needed/wanted, I would hand the coupon to another shopper. Today I mention to others to use their smartphone for the 40% off coupon.
  23. Is there a model club or swap meet coming up? I once sold a bunch of old enamel sprays at a swap meet because of the same reason as you. A model club might have members who would purchase them cheaply.
  24. For me it was the door gaps and the outside mirror, just didn't look real enough to me.
  25. The old adage is true- Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
