  1. Nice paint job and it should do well for your club init's efforts to raise some funds. I remember building that kit as a kid and I think I left mine in the black plastic and tried my hand a graphics with it. That was back in my firecracker days and it became one of my experiments! I have seen that kit at Hobby Lobby along with 3 other kits packaged as a 4 pack, usually around $30 for the four of them. Keep an eye on H/L ads for their coupons and you just might find a deal! If you don't have a H/L nearby, let me know and I would be willing to pick it up for you. We can work something out (wink wink). Thanks, Mike Scheve
  2. Nice looking stuff and very reasonably priced. I noticed you mentioned that the product was cleanly cast and that helps in making a buying decision. One question- How was the ordering process? So many times we see nice resin stuff but it takes forever to get it and I would like to know up front if it will take awhile to get it. I don't mind waiting and can build that into a project if I have an idea of how long it will be. Thanks, I saw some items that I just might have to ask Santa for ! Mike Scheve
  3. Thanks for sharing, I can see I missed an awesome show. I had to be in Florida on business through Saturday morning and struggled to decide if I should try to make it or not. I see now that I should have made plans to come through Atlanta and at least checked out some of it. Next year, I will be there! Thanks again. Mike Scheve
  4. Not sure what type of tire you are looking for but I know that the Modelhaus has some nice tires. I would start there and if they don't have it, let us know and maybe someone knows of other sources. Mike Scheve
  5. Sad news indeed! Not only a supplier to our hobby but a very good builder and contributor to the hobby as well. As Bob quoted Leon, "Never say never" and let's hope circumstances allow him to return sooner rather than later. I had hopes to start using his product soon but will wait patiently and consider other sources in the meantime. Mike Scheve
  6. I will have to check my stash. The only custom grille I remember is the one that was in the GMC that you are referring to, with the two headlights in the middle of the grille. I agree that it was "funky" and I never found it useful for my modelling purposes. I will check and let you know, it could be a few days though. Mike Scheve
  7. Not exactly sure what you are referring to? Do you mean a stock grille separate from the bumper? The recent Model King '72 Blazer has a separate grille and bumper. I think The Modelhaus might have a stock grille available also. If you are referring to the old custom grille from the '72 GMC pickup, I think I have one that I can ship you, I would have to check. Let me know what you are looking for. Mike Scheve
  8. I too heard about the earthquake and the first I thing I thought about was Gregg and if he was on the mainland or still in Hawaii? Hope all is well with your family & friends in Hawaii and let us know if there is anything we can do to assist. Mike Scheve
  9. My wife would like to see my 250+ unbuilt kits get built someday, as would I! I think given what the Model King is doing, coupled with some offerings from Resin casters and the fact that RC2 and Revell keep churning out kits, I can't "dream" up more new kits at this time. There are some kits from the '70's that I would like to see re-issued and am hopeful that I will. Mike Scheve
  10. Okay, you got me, now when can I get one? Looks great and I am sure 2007 will be a banner year for us compliments of the Model King! Mike Scheve
  11. welcome aboard Jake! There are many familiar names here and we can use some of those outstanding tutorials you have on suspensions. Mike Scheve
  12. Tommy, Thanks for posting this as I had forgotten about them. I saw some things that I would like to have but will have to wait a few weeks for. Thanks again. Mike Scheve
  13. I checked RMR resin and didn't see anything about this there. It could be that they are working on something though. I agree that it would be nice to have some options for this kit- short bed, extended cab, standard wheelbase long bed etc. Maybe some resin casters will come to the rescue! Mike Scheve
  14. Mike, Thanks for the listing and sizes, it will come in handy. To add to your list here, The Modelhaus has some nice resin tires too. They have the Goodyear Suburbanite snow tires found in the old Jeep kits as well as a really nice Sand Radial (not sure which kit it is from) along with some Sand Paddle tires. I think they have some others but I can't find my latest catalog. I think there are some other resin casters offering tires as well but I can't think of them right now. Thanks again. Mike Scheve
  15. haven't had a chance to look over the kit in detail but thanks for the heads up. I will check mine later this week and let you know. Mike Scheve
  16. Put me down for those as well. I really like the idea of a Supercab/short bed kit. Mike Scheve
  17. Let's hope they are waiting until the Hobby Show to announce any new tooling kits they have up their sleeves! While I must say that there isn't anything on that list that screams "BUY ME!" for me, I am sure there are a bunch that others here are anxious for. It will be interesting to see/hear what is announced at the show this year. Hopefully the manufacturers will surprise us and of course we can always wait for the Model King! Mike Scheve
  18. Jeff, Welcome to the MCM forum. I think you will like it here, seems to be a great bunch and some really nice builds. Mike Scheve
  19. Bob, As someone who grew up in close proximity to the AMC factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, I have many fond memories of those AMX's & Javelins! The two you have there came out very nice and it sounds like they were worth the effort. I hope to make it to the Atlanta show this fall, right now it looks like there won't be any schedule conflicts like last year ! Thanks, Mike Scheve
  20. Joe, You could contact MCW to see if he has it available or check the local auto parts store, they might be able to get you a rattle can. Mike Scheve
  21. I'd say you have it nailed. All you need is a little filler and flat black paint and the body is done. I like the way you matched the hubcaps too. I really like that magazine as it isn't all about the $200,000 Foose designed hot rods that are trailered to shows. I like to see those too but realistically, unless I hit the lottery, I am more likely to have a car in CKD than anywhere else. Thanks again, Mike Scheve
  22. No fancy pictures to post but a few hints: 1. It was the only model year that the C2/Split Window Corvette appeared. 2. I was born 38 days after JFK went for that fateful ride thru Dallas. 3. The Chicago Bears were the NFL Champions. 4. The Beatles hadn't made it to the US. Mike Scheve
  23. You can also check with the Modelhaus as they have a 1 ton wheel & tire combo that comes unplated. It does represent a late model look though. If you have one of the earlier re-releases of this kit (yellow & white truck on the box cover), it should have the original style wheel covers and I have seen a build up using those along with the camper. Let us see it when it is done. Mike
  24. Geez, after seeing those F-Super Duty based trucks, it sure would be nice to have either a resin conversion or new kit available. Mike
  25. Daryl, I haven't even opened mine yet and you are finished!?!?!?!?! That's not fair. Looks great and I hope to have mine built sometime this summer. I have an open trailer and am thinking of a "late model" theme. Mike
