  1. Jake, Congrats on taking the big step and starting your own business. I have always admired your builds and helpful tips to others and see some stuff that I definitely want! Nice job on the website and I am looking forward to seeing some of those "Coming Soon" items! Mike Scheve
  2. Nice looking Uni you built. I got to operate one for a couple of years while working for a Mercedes dealer and they were awesome no matter what I was doing- plowing snow, using the endloader or the forklift- but I did have a much stronger left leg due to the clutch they out in there! I have the Revell version with the snowplow that I want to build some day soon. Mike Scheve
  3. You can also submit a sample for a magazine review and they will be sure to mention you and your company, along with contact information in an upcoming issue. Just a guess but I would think one of your kits as a sample is cheaper than an ad and from there you could gauge reaction/interest and become a regular advertiser in the magazine if it warrants. I haven't seen the admin here remove any posts that were a shameless plug (unlike the other guys) but have seen them remove a post that was in poor taste. Let us know about new items as you develop them. Mike Scheve
  4. Looks great Ken, makes me think of my basement I had when I lived in Northern Illinois. Now that I am transplanted in the South, finding a house with a basement ain't easy. It sure would help me hide all of my kits! Keep the work area nice and neat and maybe the Warden will let you have more space! Mike Scheve
  5. Good start and you have some nice pieces to add to a decent kit. It should look real nice when done. Any ideas yet on a color? You going for a slammer look or slightly modified ? Mike Scheve
  6. I was at Hobby Lobby last weekend (using up a gift card) and noticed they had the diecast trailer (Testors) and was part of their 30% off sale. I didn't need another trailer (whole 'nother story) but it was nice to see that one around. Mike
  7. Another awesome build to follow along with and I can't wait to see it finished! You are a heck of a builder of these crawler Jeeps! Mike Scheve
  8. Not 100% sure but am fairly certain they did. I do know that there was tan interiors available as a friend's older brother had a hugger orange/black top/tan interior '72 Blazer with 38" Monster Mudders that we all envied. If nothing else, they had black vinyl floor mats/covering. Mike Scheve
  9. What is on the cover of issue 118? I don't think I got my copy of #118 and I haven't seen a renewal form come in the mail so I think my subscription is up-to-date. I understand the bad weather issue in Denver, had a friend try to make it home for X-mas and he spent many hours at the airport! Mike Scheve
  10. I see both arguments here and I can honestly say no one is wrong. The fact that this is an all new tool should mean top quality and few, if any blemishes. This being a kit that was brought to market quickly probably means that items were overlooked to avoid delays and to get it into our hands. I am not happy about the sinkmarks in my two kits any more than the others here but what can I do? Call up AMT or log onto their website? That is a start but doesn't mean that the problem is solved. I think I read that AMT/RC2 has sold out the first run production of this kit and undoubtedly will produce more. Will they fix these before the next run? Maybe/Maybe not. It will most likely depend on how much it will cost and how long it will take. I do know that if we as a group decide to boycott AMT/RC2, we will only hurt ourselves as they will have less revenue in which to invest in new subjects and revise existing molds. Sorry to rant, but in the grand scheme of things, I will try to fix my kits problems and worry about bigger things in my life. I enjoy the challenge these present and the escape from reality of work and family life. Happy New Year! Mike
  11. Brian, You mean you are supposed to FINISH a model? LOL ! I hear your pain and can relate 100%! I have models that I started 5-8 years ago that are still waiting for that last hour or two of finish work to be done. I have started 4 or 5 kits in the last 6 months, only to put them to the side and begin another because I get a great idea for it. My New Years resolution is to complete what I have started already BEFORE I break the seal on another kit. My other resolution is to NOT buy another kit until I have completed my current projects and thinned out my collection of excess kits (This will be hard as my Mother-In-Law gave me a $25 Hobby Lobby gift card last night and they are having a 30% off sale! She's trying to get me , I know it!). Just try to do what you can and most of all- Enjoy yourself, it's just a hobby! Happy New Year! Mike
  12. Like everyone else has stated, I have more than I can finish in this lifetime but that doesn't deter me from buying more kits! I think it is the creative forces within us that compel us to buy more kits with the thought of ' I am gonna bash this one with that engine and those wheels......'. I hope that 2007 brings me some time to finish what I have started and the ability to plan my builds a little better so I can complete a kit before the next batch of releases distract me ! Happy Holidays to one and all! Mike Scheve
  13. Nice paint job and it should do well for your club init's efforts to raise some funds. I remember building that kit as a kid and I think I left mine in the black plastic and tried my hand a graphics with it. That was back in my firecracker days and it became one of my experiments! I have seen that kit at Hobby Lobby along with 3 other kits packaged as a 4 pack, usually around $30 for the four of them. Keep an eye on H/L ads for their coupons and you just might find a deal! If you don't have a H/L nearby, let me know and I would be willing to pick it up for you. We can work something out (wink wink). Thanks, Mike Scheve
  14. Nice looking stuff and very reasonably priced. I noticed you mentioned that the product was cleanly cast and that helps in making a buying decision. One question- How was the ordering process? So many times we see nice resin stuff but it takes forever to get it and I would like to know up front if it will take awhile to get it. I don't mind waiting and can build that into a project if I have an idea of how long it will be. Thanks, I saw some items that I just might have to ask Santa for ! Mike Scheve
  15. Thanks for sharing, I can see I missed an awesome show. I had to be in Florida on business through Saturday morning and struggled to decide if I should try to make it or not. I see now that I should have made plans to come through Atlanta and at least checked out some of it. Next year, I will be there! Thanks again. Mike Scheve
  16. Not sure what type of tire you are looking for but I know that the Modelhaus has some nice tires. I would start there and if they don't have it, let us know and maybe someone knows of other sources. Mike Scheve
  17. Sad news indeed! Not only a supplier to our hobby but a very good builder and contributor to the hobby as well. As Bob quoted Leon, "Never say never" and let's hope circumstances allow him to return sooner rather than later. I had hopes to start using his product soon but will wait patiently and consider other sources in the meantime. Mike Scheve
  18. I will have to check my stash. The only custom grille I remember is the one that was in the GMC that you are referring to, with the two headlights in the middle of the grille. I agree that it was "funky" and I never found it useful for my modelling purposes. I will check and let you know, it could be a few days though. Mike Scheve
  19. Not exactly sure what you are referring to? Do you mean a stock grille separate from the bumper? The recent Model King '72 Blazer has a separate grille and bumper. I think The Modelhaus might have a stock grille available also. If you are referring to the old custom grille from the '72 GMC pickup, I think I have one that I can ship you, I would have to check. Let me know what you are looking for. Mike Scheve
  20. I too heard about the earthquake and the first I thing I thought about was Gregg and if he was on the mainland or still in Hawaii? Hope all is well with your family & friends in Hawaii and let us know if there is anything we can do to assist. Mike Scheve
  21. My wife would like to see my 250+ unbuilt kits get built someday, as would I! I think given what the Model King is doing, coupled with some offerings from Resin casters and the fact that RC2 and Revell keep churning out kits, I can't "dream" up more new kits at this time. There are some kits from the '70's that I would like to see re-issued and am hopeful that I will. Mike Scheve
  22. Okay, you got me, now when can I get one? Looks great and I am sure 2007 will be a banner year for us compliments of the Model King! Mike Scheve
  23. welcome aboard Jake! There are many familiar names here and we can use some of those outstanding tutorials you have on suspensions. Mike Scheve
  24. Tommy, Thanks for posting this as I had forgotten about them. I saw some things that I would like to have but will have to wait a few weeks for. Thanks again. Mike Scheve
  25. I checked RMR resin and didn't see anything about this there. It could be that they are working on something though. I agree that it would be nice to have some options for this kit- short bed, extended cab, standard wheelbase long bed etc. Maybe some resin casters will come to the rescue! Mike Scheve
