  1. Reminds me...
  2. Don't do drugs, kids. This is your brain on drugs.
  3. In some of the donations at Goodwill today, there was a boxed roll of Bill Clinton toilet paper.
  4. For a new project I'm doing (another rusty Datsun, this time a 510), the plan is to make it look like a racecar that was abandoned somewhere and then pulled out by an enthusiast to fix up. I have some decals for it, sponsors and numbers and such. How can I weather the whole car but keep most of the decals on? I was thinking to paint it primer or steel, then a color coat, then a rust coat, and then dip it in Purple Power for half an hour like I did with my Cannonball Scout so I get all the paints together, then apply decals and sand them partially away with fine-grit paper, then apply rust powder and final details. My real question, I suppose, is would this work? How well do decals stand up to sanding? I don't really have enough to experiment with it right now. Thanks in advance.
  5. Well, the Flameout should be good for the engine, parts of the frame, and the front wheels/tires... the other bits could be junkyard diorama fodder.
  6. I'll start: whilst driving through Waterville (a rather large city), I saw a VCR in a cardboard box on the curb. The box said "make an offer" on it.
  7. I just found this slideshow, and I thought I'd post it. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2015/06/06/d-day-galleries/28595931/
  8. Funny you mentioned catalysts plastic and Bondo. My father grew up fixing cars. One shop he ended up at was owned by one real old-school guy. He didn't allow any fresh Bondo on his property: everything was filled up with body solder. One of my dad's friends got fired for putting Bondo on his own car on his break. With the VW I'm working on, I'm holding myself to the same standard: no Bondo at all.
  9. I love the roof style. Thinking about building one on a T-bucket body I have on my floor.
  10. The sound of this car is simply awesome. The way it jumps and bites at the ground when it's moved to the start is just so electrifying.
  11. Stop taunting me with your skills!
  12. The 240s around here are stock, or at least look it from the outside. None of these hellaflush tards have gotten to them yet, and I haven't seen one with a body kit in ages.
  13. Not hard to find stock Corollas and 240s here; they're just rusty and worn-out.
  14. Not as long as people are doing this...
  15. Is there another kit that has an accurate or close-to-accurate underside for it?
  16. Well, the car builders back then made what was in vogue: space-y stuff, chromed frames, chromed engine blocks, shag carpeting, bubbletops, huge superchargers. Nowadays, it's wings, turbos, the "track look," and huge rims on rubber-band tires. I assume that's what they'd build if they were the age they were then but now.
  17. Exactly. I always buy sanding films, little jars of paint, and plastic from the LHS. The small-town, regular-customer thing is nice.
  18. That Audi Quattro is a snap kit?! Who did it?
  19. Decals, I assume? Find some names/logos online, like ThermoKing or Great Dane, print them on decal paper. No idea if any aftermarket place sells any such things due to licensing and such.... to the Internet! Oh, oops... company names! Same thing, I guess. Ryder, Marvin, Sysco, whatever (these are the more common ones I see, so I used those as examples) website could help: they usually have headers on top of the page with their name in a vector graphic perfect for making decals.
  20. Not that I necessarily agree.... still, here. It's related.
  21. 20 hours, darn you. One hour more than I can do a week! Good luck!
  22. Larson's S10 is the first non-production car to make it into the 5s whilst still being street legal, FYI.
