  1. D.J.,the crane kit is from Kit Form Services.
  2. I have the resin one pretty well where I want it. I''l do the other one next. We'll see which one become the right candidate for the wrecked version.
  3. The aluminum cans work well in some instances even if they are somewhat more difficult to work with. I wanted something thin to make the splash shield on my flywheel grinder and I used a piece of can Flattening it seems to be the hardest.
  4. Another one completed. Hope you like it.
  5. A new combination square. The level bubble was long gone and now the adjustment nut split in half. Things don't last anymore. It was only about 40 years old.
  6. And then some...I am jealous. This aft, I'm putting up a curtain in front of my engine collection.
  7. I think that is why it was painted flat black. And that's why I think it is the best one for the heavily weathered effect.
  8. Meanwhile, i started adding those details.
  9. Another question, am I correct in assuming that the conduit shown by the arrows house spark plug wires or are they fuel lines?
  10. Now I have a big dilemma. The resin unit is riddled with pinholes and would lend itself well to a deteriorated status, but it is more detailed than the Trumpeter unit.
  11. The plan was to do one as a display unit like this one: and the other one as a foundling like this one, maybe not so rough but badly weathered anyway:
  12. The resin engine was missing its supercharger so I copied the other one and installed it. It is the wrong one for a Mosquito but it is what I had.
  13. In a continuing effort to bring variety into the FTB engine shop, I purchased two Merlins on eBay. One is a resin casting of the Airfix Mosquito, the other was the engine sprue of a Trumpeter Spitfire.
  14. There it is, done. Official photos coming soon.
  15. Glad you enjoyed it Brent. It sort of took a life of its own after a while. i was afraid that once you build this it becomes static and then what next? But it seems to carry on.
  16. Classy building, sir.
  17. Added a light to the boom.......for those late night operations.
  18. I love the idea of salvage, combining everything into a great looking tractor.
  19. Thank you gentlemen. It'll help me decide. In a display situation, it is all about presentation but you can't go too far afield. So black with highlights it will be.
  20. Made up a pogo stick and started fabricating a grate.
  21. The crane is mounted. Installing the U-bolts. Changed the mudflaps to cover the whole width of the fenders. Looking for a place to put the pogo stick. Not much room if we allow for the rotation of the trailer front. Crane partially deployed. Everything works on this unit, the stick & booms pull out and retract, the crane swivels, the outriggers pull out and retract so do their legs.
  22. I can't wait for the stories to begin.
