Adding detail to the Trumpeter version.

David, it is indeed looking very realistic. As for the curved cove, if you have a router, take a piece of MDFthe width of the gap between the angled coves at the top of the bay entrance, sound the end with a jigsaw to match the arc at the top, run it on a router with a bit of the same profile as the coves, then cut out the strip using the jigsaw. That is if you have those tools of course. I also like your telephone. Used to have one sort of like that.

I have the resin one pretty well where I want it. I''l do the other one next. We'll see which one become the right candidate for the wrecked version.

The aluminum cans work well in some instances even if they are somewhat more difficult to work with. I wanted something thin to make the splash shield on my flywheel grinder and I used a piece of can Flattening it seems to be the hardest.

A new combination square. The level bubble was long gone and now the adjustment nut split in half. Things don't last anymore. It was only about 40 years old.

I think that is why it was painted flat black. And that's why I think it is the best one for the heavily weathered effect.

Now I have a big dilemma. The resin unit is riddled with pinholes and would lend itself well to a deteriorated status, but it is more detailed than the Trumpeter unit.

The plan was to do one as a display unit like this one: and the other one as a foundling like this one, maybe not so rough but badly weathered anyway:

The resin engine was missing its supercharger so I copied the other one and installed it. It is the wrong one for a Mosquito but it is what I had.

In a continuing effort to bring variety into the FTB engine shop, I purchased two Merlins on eBay. One is a resin casting of the Airfix Mosquito, the other was the engine sprue of a Trumpeter Spitfire.

Glad you enjoyed it Brent. It sort of took a life of its own after a while. i was afraid that once you build this it becomes static and then what next? But it seems to carry on.
