  1. Some wiring going on.
  2. Oh Boy is that ever nice!
  3. Turning the model upside down, these fell out of the cockpit. I guess I had the Brooklands screen idea way back when.
  4. I still have several models to repair, redo or reassemble from the box I had found initially. I had made this speedster out of the Metal Master 1930 Packard kit. It had a broken front axle, no windshield, several loose pieces. I am planning to wire the engine, add a few details and make it a Brooklands screen. Unless there are some available on the aftermarket.
  5. The Studebaker R engine series will be on the display stand for a while.
  6. Here they are again, as a group and individually in various parts of the shop. R2 R3 R4 R5
  7. Update on the plan. 1. the four engines are done. 2. Tried out the resin GT on the Avanti chassis. Different wheelbase, and I couldn't use the GT tub on the Avanti chassis without major mods. the Resin GT is made to go on a Starliner chassis. So we're back to that. I want to keep my Starliner so I have to get another one. Do all the Starliner kits have the same chassis?
  8. I guess is is as done as it is going to get. The Studebaker R5. All four togerther, R2,3,4 & 5
  9. Adding belts, one pulley at a time.
  10. Which Corvette engine is that Chris?
  11. Added some details to the fuel block/throttle body. Mounted the superchargers and the ductwork using the kit's belt & pulley assembly to get the location right. The supercharger intake of the kit is way smaller and narrower that the real one. To be correct it would have to be scratchbuilt. Started adding the pulleys and idler to attemptto replicate the layout of the 1:1. Easier said than done.
  12. Very very nice. I wish I could do that.
  13. Printed the picture above to get the layout of the belts and idlers correctly. Also made the supercharger mounting plates. The model has two belts with the idlers at the bottom while the real thing has three belts with one idler higher. Started on the idler tensioning springs
  14. I found a dark metallic gunmetal that comes close in appearance if not in texture. . Thanks for all the suggestions.
  15. Happy birthday and plenty more!!!!
  16. Looking at it again, it could very well be a metallic instead of wrinkle. the "mottled" kind of metallic.
  17. How would one go about reproducing the texture on the intakes parts here. They look like the wrinkle finish on some Ferrari engines and on some Hemi valve covers. real wrinkle paint is off scale. Perhaps
  18. Looking at the R5, I compared some of the kit's features with the real thing. The induction parts can be made to look fairly accurate. The supercharger drive assembly is a whole 'nother story.
  19. Thank you. Wow that is a lot of applause!
  20. FTB has just taken delivery of its new OTC Revolver heavy-duty engine stand. Now they have to find an engine to hang on it.
  21. Now it is. All breathers in place. Ready for the display stand.
  22. The R4 is done. It'll go on the display stand along with its buddies. Actually, it isn't done. i just realized I forgot three of the 5 breathers.
  23. Worked on the front mounting plate Another pen clicker and some tubing made some reasonably realistic casters.
  24. Thanks Lloyd. If you recognized the machines, it means they look OK to someone who knows them, which means I was somewhat successful in their representation. I took some of the pictures to the shop whose machines I copied and he had a kick out of that.
