  1. Some "bodywork" on the rotator thing. Starting to look like an engine stand.
  2. A few more bits for the stand. The bottle jack with its swivel top and the revolving gearbox and shaft.
  3. Completed the lines & such around the carbs.
  4. Installed the valley cover, manifold & carbs. Working on linkages and fuel lines.
  5. Tried my hand on the mini lathe with the milling attachment. The center groove went OK, the side scallops not so. Finished the engine top parts. Valley cover + stock intake + dual four slanted carb base + carbs.
  6. Working on the uprights. A rounded end sprue will do a fine bottle jack.
  7. Mike, I put the short tubings there as stops but if real cranes have angles, this one'll get them. thanks for the kind words and the suggestion.
  8. I scratched up another valley cover. My wife thinks the dog got the other one off the floor.
  9. The next machine I was going to build was one of these block mounted cylinder boring machines. I couldn't remember seeing on what they placed the blocks to do the bores so I went back. they use one of these, an OTC revolver 6000lb. stand. I started on it this morning
  10. FTB recently completed a Pontiac SD 421. It is the one from the ERTL parts pak, which is a drag engine with three induction options. I chose the dual four setup but "streetified". The starter, water pump ,fan/pulleys/alternator assembly, distributor came from the parts bin. The oil filter, fuel pump, distributor dashpot and various tubing were scratchbuilt.

  12. Thanks guy for the nice words. On with the R4.The R4's dual four intake has a similar appearance to the single as far as runs go. So since kit R4 intakes are non existant I'll attempt to make one using a single four as a base. The R4 also has a prominent valley cover. Found one in the scrap heap which would work with some trimming. Unfortunately it disappeared from the table later in the evening. Started carving the carburetor bases out of a tapered block. This is to replicate the rake of the 1:1.
  13. In my case, all of the above have happened but lately it is hard just to open it.
  14. Thanks David. In my case, it wasn't the town, there was a blockage under the house somewhere. The subfloors have been removed, the cement scrubbed and sanitized, and the reconstruction should start next week. It is covered by the insurance. I would post a picture but Photobucket won't open again today.

  16. I saw this neat photo on a Studebaker site. For the life of me I can't ID the tractor. It looks vaguely Mackish but I'm not sure. Anone know? thanks, Pat
  17. Charles, what will you use as a base for the cab?
  18. The R3 is done. I see in the photos it'll need a few touchups, but it is pretty well there.

  20. Really nice KJ. How did you "smoke" the upper corners?
  21. Looks like there is some adjustment of the tabs front to back too. Am I correct at estimating the overall width at 4.5"?
