  1. I just scored a JoHan '70 Javelin promo (distressed), but I didn't pay huge bucks for it (merely substantial bucks), so my superpower probably won't apply to that. Dernit.
  2. Haven't been in 3 or 4 weeks, and last time I was there it was all the same stuff (kits and diecasts) as the last month and the month before. Anything new turning up at HL yet?
  3. Interesting idea. Might depend on whether Hasegawa or whoever scaled it up to true 1/24 in the "translation." I've never measured it.
  4. I still have the one of those I built in 1966, and it's not in bad shape. I'd rebuild it if I could find new decals. Until then, it's just a cool old survivor, I guess.
  5. I might have to get another one of those just to graft that custom front end onto an AMT '69 Riviera I have just sitting around being ugly. (Buick achieved styling perfection in the 1966 Riviera and from that point on all they could do was make it a little uglier every year. IMHO, of course.)
  6. Despite your troubles, it looks pretty good. Model on!
  7. Very nice, very clean build. Model on!
  8. Very nice indeed! Probably the best thing in this issue. (Eight pages on a diorama backdrop? Really?) Well done and model on!
  9. I'm lining up a few projects that won't require painting. Got one already painted (just needs polish and assembly), four or five "polished plastic" projects to finish, a couple diecasts to Snake-Fu, a couple diecast kits to assemble, and a couple glue bombs that need rescuing. Got one more project I'm gonna try to lay paint on before it gets too cold, too. That should hold me till spring.
  10. That's one way to do it, and I might do it that way. But I think in this case it would be easier to just cut a strip of styrene to the proper width, scribe a line in it for the windshield trim, and glue it in. The drip rail can be added with another strip of styrene.
  11. Soooooooo, that one's already done, then....
  12. And tasteful, too! I'm not a '49 Ford fan but I like this one a lot!
  13. And you missed Carrie Underwood's "Two Black Cadillacs"? Shame on ya! Come to think of it, I don't think anyone's mentioned "80s Mercedes" by Maren Morris yet. A MUCH better Mercedes song than Janis Joplin's. That's right, I said it!
  14. I've never been a fan of this car but there's no denying that your workmanship and craftsmanship are outstanding. Well done and model on!
  15. A few months ago, I got this zooty survivor '62 Corvair in a trade with SamIAm. If I hadn't already stripped and disassembled it for rebuilding, I'd clean it up as well as possible and send it up to the show. I doubt I'll have time to get it done by then, though. (The body was so nice underneath that I decided to restore it stock, and bought another one in worse shape to transfer the custom parts to.)
  16. Just scored a JoHan '70 Javelin promo on ePay. It's missing both A-pillars and is somewhat "distressed" (i.e., much played-with), with lots of scuffs and worn chrome, but the body, glass, interior, front and rear bumpers/grille/taillights, chassis, wheels, and tires all seem to be present and complete. The condition knocked half or more off its price. (If it had been in perfect condition, I expect it would have brought three times or more what I paid.) I'm pretty sure I can work with it (Javelin A-pillars shouldn't be too difficult to scratchbuild from raw styrene). I've been chasing a '70 Javelin for more than a decade. On the rare occasion one appears, it goes for much more than I'm able or willing to pay. I've managed to score a couple '68 promos over the years, but the '69 and '70 have eluded me.
  17. I appreciate the generous offer, but I wasn't really planning on trying to decal the thing. But I'll keep your kind offer in mind if plans change, and in the meantime, if someone else can use them, by all means let them do so. Thanks again my friend!
  18. Very, VERY nice! Always great to see old survivors. Though I have to admit when I saw the thread title, I expected to see a Willys MB (WWII Jeep) turned into a gasser.
  19. Local toy show yesterday. Got the reissued AMT '77 Monza 2+2, which I'd never seen anywhere before, and and AMT '67 Camaro including two resin hoods and a resin RS grille. Didn't really need another one, but it was a good price on the lot. In glue bombs, got an IMC/Testor Cougar II that looks like it should "rescue" nicely without a whole lot of effort. Also picked up a Monogram Bad Actor ('69 Chevy SD) because it has a blower/injector setup I happen to need at the moment (I think it's from the Monogram '70 Chevelle), but it seems to be fairly complete and the body hasn't been painted or butchered. I might have a go at "de-Daniel-fying" it, something I've wanted to try for a while. Yes, I realize it can't be taken all the way back to stock, but I'd like to knock some of the more egregious '70s Kustom Kitsch off of it.
  20. Very, VERY nice! And your cotton "smoke" is far and away the best thing of this kind I've ever seen anywhere. Well done and model on!
  21. Try some stiff, dark cord strung about ankle high.

    '67 Impala

Very, VERY nice! Well done and model on!
  23. +1. Looks like you know what you're doing and have a plan. Drive on!
  24. Tom when is this event? And where? Isn't it in New Jersey? I have no interest in traveling to NJ, but if you're going, I might think about sending you something to display there, just to show support. Pretty sure I could get at least that '55 done in time. Maybe the '65, too.
  25. Oh man, that is absolutely beautiful! I would LOVE to polish the plastic up and display it built just like that! Not long ago I bought one, NIB, molded in black. Would you rather work with a black one? Just wonderin'.....
