I completed 42 model car projects this year: 16 glue bomb rescues and survivor restorations, 18 diecast Snake-Fus, and 8 “new” kits built entirely and completely by me (though most started before 2018—in some cases, DECADES before). I”ve already posted the diecasts in that section, and will post the GBRs soon, but here's my eight “new” builds for 2018. ’69 Charger 500: Started and painted in early '90s, sentenced to the Shelf of Doom, paroled and finally finished February 4. 2016 Camaro: Might have started in 2017 but mostly built this year. Finished March 2. ’70 Chevelle Revell Snapper: Started, painted, stripped, painted again 2014, finally finished March 19. ’53 Corvette: Started last year or maybe in 2016, but finally finished March 31. ’77 Monza/76 Skyhawk: Started and painted sometime in the mid-'80s as a model of the '76 Buick Skyhawk I was driving at the time. Finally finished April 15. Plymouth Prowler: Bought and built entirely this year, finished September 20. IMC VW Beetle: Started and painted around 1969-70, sentenced to the Shelf of Doom, paroled and finally finished this year for the Bring Out Your Dead group completion build on December 14. '40 Ford Coupe: Started in early '90s, painted in mid-'90s, finially finished December 31 for the BOYD completion build. Thanks for looking, and for all the kind comments and support throughout the year. As always, comments welcome and appreciated.

Very nice! I'm thinking of doing something similar, a mid-'60s period custom, right out of the box. Drive on!

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Okay, finally got pics made of my '40 Ford street punk. Full writeup to come Under Glass, when most of the "My 2018" posts clear out. BelugaWRX, I'm giving you credit for GITTIN IT DONE. You made AWESOME progress from the build's start, and it sure looks done to me! So you make COMPLETION #10. Congratulations! -
I don't know what you're running, but I"m sure glad it's not Revell!

Another superb build from you. Much better than the MPC one I finally finished last year. Well done and model on!

I think there are a LOT more "pleased" than "irked" posts here. Most of the posts in the THREE "What Did You Get Today?" threads are pleased. (The others are reactions.) I'd think that all of the OPs in Under Glass and On the Workbench section reflect some degree of pleasitude or pleasitation. The OP was happy/proud enough with something to take pics and post them up; I think we could infer that they were usually pleased. LIkewise, there are many, many Pleased posts in the Kit Reviews and Diecasts sections. So I think there is a LOT more pleasitation than irkitude on this board.

WW III, the war on plastic.

I've heard this many times, but I don't believe I've ever seen any pictures of such. -
Good for you. Sometimes we have to work to maintain that attitude. I've noticed that unappreciative people are also the unhappiest people.

Revell 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS 396...........My take
Snake45 replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's obviously a current-day restored car in some lucky dude's collection. Got a pic of one with Fentons back in 1969? -
Fabulous! I absolutely LOVE it! What scale is it?

Isn't it funny how no one ever complains about blue, green, or even black styrene "bleeding through" white? I suspect that the wavelength of red/orange light--it's at one end of the visible spectrum, but I never can remember whether it's long wavelength or short--has something to do with the color's ability to peek through too-thin (not opaque enough) paint.

Welly '55 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing--Rite Aid Rescue
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in Diecast Corner
Stopped by my Rite Aid today for the first time in over a month. Same old stuff on rack, nothing I hadn't seen before. Girl behind the counter saw me looking at them and said she'd just gotten a new box in she hadn't put out yet--she pulled it from under the counter for me! It had a silver Mercedes 300SL in it! I liked it better than my red one, but not enough to buy another one. The box also had a blue VW Beetle, something else I don't remember, and a bright red 427 Cobra that followed me home. So it wasn't a wasted trip. -
HIPS High Impact Poly Styrene, can I use this?
Snake45 replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
We used this stuff where I used to work to make templates and patterns. I was the guy who made the templates, and I got to keep a lot of the bigger "scraps" rather than tossing them out. I now have a lifetime supply of the stuff, use it often, and it works just fine. -
It wasn't a question. It was a statement of something--one thing--I would do if I ran Revell. And I never meant that it was the only thing I would do. It's just a new program I would start.

Had yellow plug wires (Accel) been introduced yet in 1968?

Really? Why all the hate, dude?

Revell 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS 396...........My take

If I tell you a rooster can pull a freight train, get your junk off the tracks! -
You get me. You really get me.

Just since we're talking about the "new" Revell '70 Cuda, I've never thought the front end of that thing looked right. I don't know what it is--grille, bumper, front valence, or some combination of the three, I just can't put my finger on it. One of these days I"m gonna sit down with that kit and a bunch of good photos and try to figure out what it is. It just looks "Foose-ified" or something, like it's been subtly modified in some way.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
YOU GO, BOYEEE! GITTER DONE! You could have posted those pics and declared it done and I'd have believed you. You've made FANTASTIC progress since we first saw it! Looking good! Drive on! -
What cars interest you in resin 1/25
Snake45 replied to 5.0man's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
He offers both '63 and '65. The '63 2DS body is for the Trumpeter kit and you NEED that kit to build it. It doesn't have a trunk. It also doesn't have glass, a problem for me because my Trumpeter kit is a convertible and doesn't have rear glass. I'll figure something out. He also has a '65 2DS body but the '65 2DS roof is different from the '62-'64. He also has another '63 2DS body with altered wheelbase for the AMT AWB funny kit.
