  1. Got this at the local toy show last month. Original annual AMT '67 Comet Cyclone, which has a body much better shaped IMHO than the newer kit. Needs the hole in the hood fixed, and the stock grille insert, and one taillight, but I think I'll be able to bring it back from the dead. Worse comes to worst, I'll just trash a "new" one for those parts--or, depending how you look at it, just swap this body onto a "new" kit.
  2. You've always got a plan. Kinda like me.
  3. Shur et weel. BTW, but that Ford Aerospace logo reminds me of something. Is it the Monogram Snap-Tite logo?
  4. ^^^This. Exactly what I was going to say. Also, I've never needed a Dremel to remove "trim" from a plastic kit. It's handled better, easier, and faster with hand tools. I've had a Dremel for over 30 years and have used it for modeling stuff maybe three times. And two of those were on model airplanes.
  5. Are you going to put it on a display base of wavy A's?
  6. You can have all mine.
  7. Here we compare to the AMT '68 for size and shape. Front end is a little wider than the AMT '68. But the back end is very, very close in width. Body is a little longer than the AMT '68, so I guess it's closer to 1/24 than 1/25, but not horribly obviously so. Here you can see that there's something a little off with the shape of the roof. The C-pillars are a little too wide/long, or something. Vinyl-topping it might help camouflage this, or make it worse, I dunno. But, overall, I though the thing was well worth the $20 and the four or five hours of time I have into it. At any rate, there's no EASIER way to get a '70 Elky on your shelf, if you've been wanting one.
  8. Motor Max '70 El Camino, 1/24-ish (more on that below), found at Walmart though I've also seen them at Hobby Lobby. Shape isn't horrible except for the roof. Here it is right out of the box. And here it is after a couple hours of standard Snake-Fu. Doesn't look half bad sitting on my shelf.
  9. That's pretty cool. A real Way-Back machine to the '70s!
  10. Absolutely. We haven't had a good '69 since the AMT annual was updated to the '70 almost half a century ago.
  11. Bogger, those are FABULOUS!
  12. Photobucket? That's SO 2016....
  13. Very cool! Reminds me of a roll of Lifesavers!
  14. Very interesting. I need to scratchbuild a nose for a B-26 bomber and have been thinking of doing something along these lines. Tell us about that "house builders foam." I was thinking to use green styrofoam from a crafts store meant to stick flowers in, shape it a little undersized, and coat it with J-B Weld. This would have the added advantage of then being very easy to hollow out to put lead nose weight into. But I'd like to hear more about your method.
  15. Yes, thanks. I'm gonna look for this next time I'm in an auto parts place.
  16. That's right. I knew they were something oddball. Once again, You Da Man!
  17. The pic of the Mustang looks much better than the original issue, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  18. Just remembered, I have another one built.
  19. I never realized that backbirth was a Ford. I always thought it was based on a '72-ish Impala/Caprice wagon, as the front end reminded me of my parents' '72 Impala. What a Land Ark that thing was!
  20. Tell us more about that cut-to-fit mirror stuff. Seems like it might have all kinds of model applications.
  21. That's different and interesting. It kinda reminds me of one of the original comic boot Batmobiles.
  22. Maybe the wheels in the AMT '25 T are Winfields, then, and maybe they're not. But I think they look like the wheels in your picture. Here they are with the low areas painted black. I think they'd look just like your picture with the low areas painted flat steel.
  23. Did the IMC VWs have Pirellis?
  24. I think you're right. I used a pair of those lenses on something else a couple years ago and I don't recall having to deal with stalks on them.
