Can you fuse two cars together?
Snake45 replied to Blackkat13's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm still waiting to hear what the OP is trying to accomplish. -
Here's my son performing the National Anthem at the WVU game on Saturday. (He's a 2012 WVU alumnus, BTW.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXTR_MTdV80https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqNVjNW2bhAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11N6k8NcNDs

You missed the trim strip on the front fenders/doors, too.

Didn't Ford do a similar "Caravan" show car? Seems I've seen one somewhere. -

But the thing is, you can model a first-gen Camaro with a "'68" front end and a "'67" rear end, or vice-versa, or any combination thereof, without having to "fuse" two bodies. -
Bright white, is there such a thing?
Snake45 replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know that Model Master Classic White is whiter than their Insignia White. And if you want it as white as possible, lay it over a good flat white Primer. My favorite is Floquil Reefer White but that's very hard to find these days. The cheap Walmart white primer does a fine, fine job too. -
My photos don't do it justice--except for the wonky roof, it's very nice indeed. Are you going to do anything about the roof, Geno? I know you're not afraid of metal work. What stock 1/24 wheels/tires are you going to put on it?

Thanks! Now I'll know what those street-racing dudes on cable are talking about. Are "big tire" cars considered faster, or stronger?

"Holy Grail" Models?

Sweet deal! I'd have jumped on that one myself. -

First off, I'm wondering why you want to do such a thing. Second, specifically what two kits are you thinking of using? Tell us that and we can probably tell you if it will work and how easy it will be. -
Love the color! It's not far off '69 Chevy Burnished Brown.

Local toy show today. Dropped almost $100, mostly on good deals on semi-common kits, BUT I scored a very nice original '66 Toronado promo for $35. 100% complete, no damage, might be a couple very minor scratches in the factory gold/bronze paint. "Biggest" problem is most of the chrome is worn off the right side of the rear bumper. You know how JoHan chrome is. But it should clean up very nicely. Even better, scored an original annual AMT '67 Comet Cyclone glue bomb for $13. Got a scoop hole in the hood, one taillight is missing, and the stock grille insert is missing, but still! Should be able to bash it with parts from a "new" one and/or the reissued funny car and end up with a nice Cyclone. The body shape is better than the "new" kit, too.

Very nice, very well done! Hey, can you tell me what "small tire" and "big tire" mean?

Waterspots on windshield of diecast car
Snake45 replied to Vietnam Vet67's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Never heard of using that on a model. I faithfully Rain-x my car windows every fall, as it makes ice/frost SO SO SO much easier to scrape off. But I had HORRIBLE results one year when I put the stuff on the inside of my windows. It didn't work well at all and the stuff was impossible to remove. Not sure what if any advantage there would be to using it on model windows. Has anyone done this? -
Very nice indeed! You really nailed the look!

First, are you absolutely sure they're on the outside? If so and Windex didn't work, my next move would be rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, it might need to be polished out. I've learned that some diecast clear plastic is weird. -
Nice clean build! What's not to like?

Sharpies for detailing?
Snake45 replied to blusy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are some tricks, hacks, and workarounds when using the Silver Sharpie. One of these days I'll have a fit of industry and do a complete tutorial. Meanwhile, they're also great for wheel opening trim. I use them on diecasts, too. -

Sharpies for detailing?
Snake45 replied to blusy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been using the Silver Sharpie for window trim and the like for six or eight years now. I love them so much that if they quit making them, I'd have to go back to building model airplanes. I also use a black one sometimes for minor detailing. A red one comes in handy for some taillights and side marker lights. -
"Holy Grail" Models?

On my previous post, I forgot original JoHan '68-'70 Javelins and their '68 4-4-2. -

I've been fortunate enough to score most of my "holy grails" off ePay in the last decade or so--a few unbuilt kits, but mostly restorable glue bombs.I'm a fairly happy camper at this point in my life. As to stuff I don't have, probably JoHan '69 GTX, MPC '68 Coronet and MPC '68 Impala Oh, and AMT '65 Chevelle. For stuff that I have already built or have restorable glue bombs of, it would be nice to have mint unbuilt kits of: AMT '67 Camaro AMT '66 Mustang Fastback MPC '67 Bonneville Original first-issue AMT '65 GTO MPC '68 and '69 GTOs AMT '66 Skylark
