Ordered 'em Tuesday, got 'em today--less than 48 hours! Gotta love diecastmodelswholesale!

I hear ya my brotha! I DESPISE both of those and always have. Hideous earworms right up there with "Achy Breaky Heart." Just hearing four bars of any of them can ruin your whole day.

That's because the Yenko that they based the original tooling on had it. It wasn't standard on Yenkos, rare even there. Been kinda cool to have it, though, and if you wanted standard pipes, I think they were available in the AMT '68 Camaro and '72 Nova kits (I'd have to check).

What car or truck have you always wanted ?
Snake45 replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had an early one--a '79 Pace Car 302/automatic on Michelin TRX tires. Could barely get out of its own way. Handled okay on dry roads, but on rain it was like snow, and on snow it was darn near undriveable. I understand they got better and better mechanically as they went, but the '79-'84s were better looking. The later ones were uglier. If I ran across an '80 or '81 Cobra in black with the green graphics, though, if it were at an attractive price, I'd give very serious consideration to buying it. Those were pretty sharp looking. -
And for me, it's just not Christmas until I've heard this:

#1 on my HATE list. A real earworm.

The local has two people, who seem to have little or nothing to do 1/4-1/3 of the time. I doubt the "local" slot was taking in 100 pieces a day. Probably 1/4 of the town is on the PO boxes. I can't imagine they couldn't at least go through and pull the PO box mail and insert those in hours. There's only one truck and one mail route for the rest of the town, and I doubt there are 50 streets. Should be easy enough to sort out in "spare" time. In fact, I think this it the way they had been doing it.

Round 2 December Spotlight?

Hey, I managed to get the very first kitted Logghe chassis--MPC's Mr. Unswitchable GTO--together when I was 13. How bad could it be? -
The guy who picks up my trash has the physical PO Box right under mine at the local PO. If my arm were longer, I could reach through my box and put my quarterly bill check in his mailbox from the back. But no, I have to put a stamp on it. Until recently, the PO had two outgoing mail slots--one for the local town (very small, and presumably all mail delivered in the town would be handled by this PO) and one for the rest of the world. Now they've done away with the local slot, so all the mail now gets taken over the mountain to the next city, about 30 miles away, to be sorted, and then the local stuff is sent back in a day or two. Oh well, at least now I can feel like I'm getting my money's worth for that stamp.

Can't find that listed on JF site. Any other ideas? That's still a 4-door.

I'm 67 with shaky hands and have to use an Opti-visor for virtually all modeling work these days.

So does the AMT, but they're fixable, as I showed in a tutorial here. The AMT's grille is better than the Revell's. If I were building this project, I'd start with the AMT.

Well, I just ordered a blue Skyline, a black '16 Charger, and--after seeing Mike C's--a charcoal gray Welly '65 Impala. I'd like to try turning the Charger into a phantom 2-door. Have never done anything like that in metal. I guess I'll have to figger out how to scribe the new (longer) 2-door rear door lines in. Maybe a fine hacksaw blade? Grind out a trench with a Dremel, fill with J-B Weld, scribe the line into the J-B Weld? Of course I'll have to epoxy the original opening doors in and fill THAT gap with the J-B Weld. Hmmmm, this might actually be a do-able project. We'll see....

'66 Nova SS hardtop. '67 El Camino. '67 Corvette roadster with hard top. '66 Shelby GT350. -
You're not the first to notice this disparity.
-
Yeah. I've got a few hours in trying to make mine fit right, and I don't have it to my satisfaction yet. I had the same problem with the Monogram '66 Chevelle and the AMT/MPC '57 Corvette. And I can tell I'm gonna have it with the Monogram '60 Chevy sedan delivery.

Round 2 December Spotlight?

The Charger funny car might be interesting. What kit was that originally? Are aftermarket decals available? -
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Mine, the "pull" happened on, IIRC, a Thursday, and by Sunday it was so bad I could hardly move around at all, and even codeine wasn't having much effect. Was pretty bad for about a week. Continued good luck to you.

The 21st Century motto seems to be, "If it ain't broke, fix it till it is!" Goes right along with "We're not happy until YOU'RE not happy!"

Wildest Paint Job I've Ever Seen

Yes, that's what it looked like! Maybe that's what it was. Thanks! -
Wildest Paint Job I've Ever Seen
Snake45 posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The other day at Walmart I saw a Mini in an amazing red paint job. It was like candy red over chrome, or like a Hot Wheels (I think I've seen HWs finished like this), or maybe like an old-school Christmas tree glass ornament. Lay some red Sharpie on a chrome model part--that's what the whole car looked like. Came home and researched and it doesn't seem to be factory. First paint job I've ever seen like like this. Is this a new thing? What's the deal? -
I thought of painting eyes and teeth on it, but thought that would be too cartoon-y. Decided to go subtle. "Wait, where have I seen that color scheme before?" Thanks again for the wheels. They made the project.

What I got today was an email from diecastmodelswholesale.com with some good 1/24 (-ish) stuff in it for a change. Some of the highlights: '41 Chevy convertible (Welly), stock and two colors of lowriders, $17 and $18 Porsche Taycan Turbo S (Welly), white, $16 Nissan Skyline GT-R (Welly), white and metallic blue, $17 427 Cobra (Welly), metallic blue with white stripes, $16 '70 Challenger TA (Welly), orange or metallic blue, $17.50. I have one of these--they're 1/25 scale and REALLY nice, one of Welly's very best. '63 Vette splitwindow coupe (Welly), red or light metallic blue, $16. I have one of these and they're pretty nice for the money. 2016 Dodge Charger R/T (Welly), white or black, $17. This is the ONLY late-model Charger in scale I know of--thinking of getting one. DMW has a $9.95 flat rate shipping on any purchase to anywhere in the U.S. lower 48, pretty good deal these days. I think I'm going shopping!
