Ram vts
426-Hemi replied to Plastic_Passion's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yepper it is nice to see some locals! I'm an hour north of ya! I too did one of the VTS trucks years ago (I lost it in a house fire about 7 years ago now) and after the fire, was when I recently got back in model car and truck building so..... But I have 2 of these kits right now and neither of them will be what they are on the box! LOL I too will have to make up my own front 4x4 suspension to make the T-Rex 6x6..... I also plan to use a Cummins diesel in the 6x6 too.... you had a '98 with a 5.2L in it, 5 speed, that was a nice truck.... or so I hope.... They're great if taken care of properly! -
Pro-touring Plymouth Volare *340 to boosted 225 slant!*
426-Hemi replied to brodie_83's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Brodie thats some intake on that 340! Whats that off of? Better valve covers for the 340? your not going to find much aftermarket for Mopar small blocks! I know of the '71 Plymouth Duster Street Machine ones (They look just like the Mopar Performance small block ones that are all black, with polished aluminum fins..... And then I've seen cast resin valve covers to look like cast aluminum M/T valve covers too, BUT those, you have to be careful. They make both big block and small block M/T versions! The big block versions will have angled inside corners, the small block version are straight no angles at all! -I know of no others small block ones! -
LOVE the Hemi Orange idea! Black trim on that car OR Hemi Orange & White trim be good too! Chrome without question as well....
-
Thanks Dave! Much appreciated! Yeah, the lens needed that lip-edge in chrome... SO I had to try and figure out a way to add it! They both turned out great adding it too! Much appreciated! Thanks for following along!

Dave thats too funny! I've loved the plum crazy purple since the day I painted a '33 Plymouth 3 window Coupe that color in real life, and the kicker is, we did Top Banana Yellow scallops on it and since that time I LOVE how those 2 colors go together, so you'll be seeing me build 2 '70 Coronets, one a R/T convertible and one a actual Super Bee, the R/T will have an all purple body, with a Banana Yellow deck stripe with the "R/T" emblem in, the Super bee will also be all purple, but have a Banana Yellow "C" stripe with the "Super bee" emblem in it.... I've semi-started those 2 models about a year ago, working on just the engines to those too is and was a last, Same engine, built 2 different ways, ones is stock (in the Super bee) and the other is all covered in chrome (one in the R/.T) BOTH are Hemi's, the Super Bee has a 426 Hemi and the R/T I'm thinkin' of calling that one a 528 Hemi! (same block, same look, just one covered in chrome the other one is stock from the factory....) THEN you mention Hemi Orange (THAT was my all time FAVORITE COLOR since I was kid, and back then? I did not know what it was called, I just knew it was "Orange"........ LOL I plan to take a Little Red Express truck and build it up to a monster truck like one I did many years ago and lost in a house fire (I'm gonna build that truck again!) and it was Hemi Orange and black! And right now, I have a '65 Dodge A100 thats All black with a Hemi Orange stripe down the center body line, and I think theres a Hemi Orange A100, that I used here: One WILD build from me! Hemi Orange over all with the center part in Graphite Gray Metallic.... And lots of Chrome! LOL Even my L-700 truck is gonna have a chrome grille unlike what the kit provides with it (I'm gonna use a A100 chrome grille on it! Lots of ideas on the Hemi Orange yet to come! I also favor the Burnt Orange Metallic as well! And well as the "Copper" Orange, as well as the other "orange" colors.... I have yet to pick a build to use the Mopar "Go Mango" orange on tho!

I say more wagons and more 4 door cars!!!! AND campers, both add-on to trucks, in-place of the truck bed, as well as slide-ons to the truck bed, AND camper "trailers"..... TRUE camper trailers..... Or a 3n1 kit to make it to fit the builds truck of choice! I also would mind seeing a "Airstream" camper too!

Sublime would have looked GREAT on that car for a T/A! (I'm thinking my '70 Challenger T/A might wind up Sublime green! I don't know yet!) BUT I have to side with the girls on the Panther Pink...... I did a '57 Chrysler 300C that color with a pearl white roof and nice white interior with panther pink accents..... Years ago, when I was younger building model cars, I never liked that color, the pinks and greens were NEVER a high color on my list of favorite colors.... NOW? Well I do like the Panther Pink, and I still am not "fond" of the darker greens, but Sublime, has grown on me! And I do like the colors of the Sassy Grass green or Green Go color..... Thats about as dark of a green I like tho! Even tho I'm doing one car with a much darker green only because my Dad owned a car just like it.... so.... Won't be often you see me paint any model dark green. Heres a link to my '57 Chrysler 300C: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/102478-the-completed-57-chrysler-300-this-is-the-build-of-it/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/100700-1957-chrysler-300c/ Favorites? OMG its a tie..... Plum Crazy Purple (I've ALWAYS loved that color) and Hemi Orange, those 2 colors, I used way back when, and a lot today! I have to pull myself AWAY from the Plum Crazy tho, or all my models would wind up that color! LOL
-
Thanks Steve! Master? I dunno but decent I guess.... LOL Yeah I put a lot into this one, as back when I started this model my hands were literally blown apart and so I'd work till I couldn't and then sit and look up pics online of the car and decide from there how I wanted it to look! It actually took awhile for me to decide what color I wanted to paint it too! Up to the point of getting to the engine compartment inner fenders, as well as firewall and radiator core support then I HAD to make up my mind what color I was gonna go with on the body! -With my hands in the shape they were it took awhile to get to that point tho, so I had plenty of time to choose what color I wanted! I worked that paint as tho it was a real car... thats why I like Testors paint so much.... Stay tuned! More to come!

Thats OK, I'll make up a few in Aluminum, polished, to go with your goodies man! All you'll have to add is the straight pin!
-
NICE work! The 392 Hemi looks good too! Those valve covers however are a bit different but thats not a bad thing!

Ram vts
426-Hemi replied to Plastic_Passion's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
-Hey local neighbor! LOL NICE work! I've got 2 of these trucks one is gonna become a Ram T-Rex, the other I'm not sure of its fate.... BUT I can tell ya, I am not using the danged V-10 in either of probably! Just because I am not making them the VTS at all.... (Standard trucks for me) this round! I also wanna use a Cummins in the T-Rex too........... Nice job tho so far! Looks GREAT! You adding the decals for the white rallye stripes or no? -Look good either way! -
Nope! I haven't done anything to this one since my last posting..... I had to take a break from the intenseness of this one and then got into seeing the 2 I'm currently working on almost finished so, I'm pushing to get the 2 of them D-O-N-E and complete 2 models this year then my regular 1 model a year as its been! LOL

Is it me or is it my builds?
426-Hemi replied to 72 Charger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My point of view, this site goes so fast that the "top" of the list only gets seen.... The people "online" at the time get to see that "top topic", and reply and move on..... The lower topics on the list never get a lot of activity I think for that very reason! It could be just that simple too.......... Thats something I've noticed with my builds too, it goes in cycles that way.... IF your not active in that topic is falls off the notice level, if your one at "C" hour and not "D" hour those on at D hour are those to catch it, but those on at "C" hour, don't even know that anything is going on as they've done moved on within the site! If its not at the top of the page a lot miss it (I'm guilty of it too!) Plus when your a site with the amount of activity that there is on here, things move on rather quickly! UNLESS you "follow" that build then its different! -
Dave thats NICELY done man! NICE & BRIGHT like mentioned! WOW......... good to see a T/A in something other then the dang Green! -Almost seems that the medium to darker greens are trending right now...... -I'd almost rather see a T/A in the Sublime Green that the rest of the shades of green it was offered in!
-
LOL Dave, I guess!!!!! If you say so! I only say that as Rosco's car here.... is the FIRST true time I've actually gotten to use/try BMF on the exterior window trim believe it or not, I used it on the interiors of a couple other cars, and on one time section of one other car, and didn't think I was all that good at it.... BUT using it more & more, I'll get better feeling of it I guess..... -The very first EVER time I used it, I didn't think I was all that good with it, not that it looks "bad" on the car, I just think I could have done something better then what it is. side trim on the rear fenders of a '57 Chrysler 300C -Thee first time I EVER used BMF!

That turned out GREAT! I expected the Lindberg kit to have a lot more wrong with it! BUT I guess time, age, and more designers in the company turned out some better products in later years! As their older kits were loaded with slight fitting issues as well as incorrect parts on engines that just were not the shape or size they should have bee from a detailers point of view! The Little Red Wagon A100 kit comes to mind having what they called a "426 Hemi" that wasn't even close to what the engine should have looked like! The Hemi in that kit more represents an old 241 Red Ram Hemi then its big brother, the 426! The 6.1L Hemi engine looks great man, (nice work with the craft paint too!) the body color is GREAT on that car!
-
LOL Dave, Just a good eye, and know what ya lookin' at for details! -Its also good to see the participation too from EVERYONE who took a guess!!!! That says something for those who are out there looking & reading not just glancing at the pics! Stay tuned tho, there will be more to this one in a bit (I have more pics to take of this build!)
