Here's what I ended up doing and since you seem to know somewhat about Solidworks I thought I'd just picture it for ya. And this is for everyone else that wants to see what's involved with something like this! There is a lot of time trying to figure out things and sometimes you have to basically fool the program to do what you want it to. When I started this scoop I have various guide lines to basically "guide" the shape. (think connect the dots but with whole sides and curves instead of just lines) Your guidelines are the shape you want to hold when it connects the various drawings. What you see is the final shape as it comes along from drawing to final. (without all the time involved and racking of thy brain lol) Pics 1,2, and 3 are the shape and guide lines. Pic 4 is that shape lofted. Pic 5 is where I extended the scoop forward. Pic six shows you not only what's going on (look on the left of the pic) but where it sits as far as progression. Not including the mirrored shape. (I can mirror the part and choose the mating face and it will make a duplicate of it) Also in Pic 6, the blue outline is a previous part of the model that was "extruded" but hiding so to speak so it didn't get in the way of the loft as I was trying to work it. That was done first as that had the basic shape from the front that I wanted then I copied the drawing into another "plane" for the loft. Pic 7 is the final part. And one I'm happy with I might ad! So minus the base of the scoop (mounting surface) it is completed. Whew! -

I've done a few adjustments playing with the scoop. It's still not quite there yet but it's getting closer. Just a little more playing around and I think I can get it where I want it. -

Thank ya brotha! I'm pushing for 2018 but I'm not sure. (may have to borrow someones next year crown....hint hint) There's a ton of work still to do and still a few more things to model up before I can manage to complete it but the list of modeled parts is getting shorter. Plus the brass is on the way (be here tomorrow in fact) so I can rebuild the chassis. Should have just done it in brass this last go around and been done with it. Live and learn lol. Plus there's a little 1:1 project I'm pulling together parts for! What I have is 3 drawings that are lofted together and because they have to go from the shape of the scoop opening and curve down into the throat of the scoop (supercharger entry) it goes cadi wompas onme when I loft it out. So I add "guide lines" to aide in telling the computer what shape I am looking for. -

Needs a couple more guide lines in it to make it look better around the lower curve of the scoop to the when it transitions into the blower boss area. (note that the actual boss to mount to the supercharger isn't there yet, I'm just trying to get the basic shape first.) Paul -

Found an injector hat I like so I have started drawing it up. Here's the butterfly plate. Hopefully I can have the rest of it done this week and then onto the oil and fuel pumps. Can't wait till this engine is finally all completely printed up! Paul -

Thank you sir! Check your email btw Dave Tim, I have considered it but we do not have a 5 axis at work so I'd have to find someone who has one and the required micro tooling. Would be col out of billet though! Thanks everyone. Paul -

just because you can doesn't mean you should but because I can therefor I am! DPME billet style flywheel dual pattern! Hee hee...clutch parts in the near future? Ummmm, Maybe.....lol And the rest of the supercharger parts. The supercharger parts are actually at the printer so I can check them out in 1/16 scale. (drawn up 1-1 and scaled down) The snout is actually 2 parts. The snout housing, and the shaft/flange that was drawn up a long time ago. Yes, the rotors are in the case...Am I nuts? Quite possibly lol. I am not having those printed yet. Yes they will be in the Chevelle. What's they point of all this work if I can't add it to my model eh? I still need to model the gears for them and they most likely won't be available although I may add it to the flywheel/clutch files to have printed (kind of like an additional detail set if someone wanted to go that far or make a diorama in 1/16) Most people won't or don't need all that detail in their models except for Dave lol. Paul -
Boy thats old! Lol. Its not a 100% exact copy but close enough for many. I cut down a top fuel block into the size to fit the Miss Deal parts. (Probably the best 392 in kit form at the time) Chuck Mier may still have a mold of it but I doubt it as that was probably at least over a decade ago. I made my own mold of my master and it may still be good but all of it has been packed up I know of no one who has done a 100% accurate Donovan in scale. Edit...i found my stash of resin parts and there was several blocks in there. I would be willing to give one up for the cause if you so choose. Paul

Taking a break from Solidworks and the Chevelle for a while I've turned my attention to this thing again. I received the cd with the service manual (which includes all 1970 mode year trucks!) and there is some information I can use but I have to go through all of the disk to find it. Owell. There's another book I will be buying soon to help with the details on the engine so I will pause on that and I've started on the firewall. While a decent example of one it needs a bit of help. There are too many gaps in it to the body and quite frankly loks like poop. One side down and one more to go! I am contemplating opening the doors, (the other reason for the firewall work) so having a completed firewall will help with that if I decide to open them. I will also be correcting the interior tub as the door panels do not angle inward at the bottom which mean all new tub lol. Paul -

This has not been forgotten. Everything went Chaotic with quickness. We decided to move down from the mountain into the valley. I required the computer to continue to develop the engine parts needed and finally got it up and running recently. With the chassis being in pieces and a list made up for a brass order this may start up again but with no model room as of yet (and no supplies currently either lol) it may take a bit. However the supercharger is getting closer to completed and ready for order. The biggest issue has been getting proper dimensions. I had some help from Dave with this and some more deep research and have gotten a reasonable facsimile of a 14-71 in proper scale. No luck from any of the supercharger manufactures but that's ok. Few things left to do to finish up the supercharger parts then I can order them up and see how they print. Paul -

Finding information has proven difficult for this thing so I will be ordering the service manual for it in CD form off of ebay in about a week. (gotta wait on shapeways paments to be sent to paypal lol) Figure that's the best way to get the information I need to properly detail it but also it includes all the information for every truck for that model year! I am guessing that 74 for the model year would be about right. I would like to properly do the suspension for this thing. May do up brass leaf springs simply for aesthetic reason as it would look better than plastic blobs lol. I've been studying the kit and there are some close aspects to it but then they just missed the mark on the detail but this is an old kit so I can forego the complaints about lack of details. Paul -

Redid a new pulley for the crank as there was some issues with the other one I machined and started machining the 6 bolts that hold it onto the balancer. One down 5 to go....lol -

Thanks guys. SO I finished up the harmonic balancer and the bolt for it. 2 separate pieces make up this part. Now i can finish the pulley and start from there. Chris, the promod is here here now.... in pieces but it's here lol Paul -

oh im not stating what they did wasn't crooked as all hell but as far as lawsuits go I don't think anyone has a leg to stand on. I personally didn't pay for their services as I wasn't in agreement as to how they went about things anyway. Did it affect me? Sure but only minutely and quite frankly there are better things to do than bicker about something as petty as how someone pulled the rug out from under them over a free service. (Not that anyone is mind you) This will be my last posting as far as Pbucket goes however. I choose to move on from what has only become a sore subject for many. Go build something people. I am! -

your probably right. And there is still access to them. They didnt blatantly steal them and cut off access to them. And you do have a choice to download them and go somewhere else without paying to get them back. I want to say that you solely own the photos however they can use them as they see fit to suit their needs. It may come down to having to watermark your photos as yours though. Im not sure and copyright laws are a sticky subject with many layers to the laws than many of us mear laymen couldn't possibly grasp without a degree. -

Cant see why there would be a lawsuit. Free is free and theres is probably something in the original TOS stating they can change it at any time. I cant see any reason for an emotional distress suit either. A, it would be difficult to prove Im sure and B, they didnt cut you off of access to YOUR pics. They just changed how theybwent about things. You can still access them, just can't 3rd party them as you used to. Now granted that wouldn't stop some lawyer from trying just because they make all the money while you are out money or get nothing in return for your FREE account. Best bet, find a new place or way and move on but thats MY opinion. -
Kind of wonder if it is not Wendel Sowers just playing the part of someone else. His stuff seems to pop up from time to time from various sellers claiming they have the molds iirc. Then poof...gone again. Seems odd is all.

So I devised a scheme to be able to add the reliefs to the top of the block side but mounting it in the 3 jaw chuck and milling them into the side with an end mill. Actually worked pretty darned good too! One side shows what I started with as far as the block goes. You can see my layout lines for the freeze plug locations. I may plunge the freeze plug "cups" in with an appropriate sized end mill just to simulate the freeze plugs. Last picture is the finished drivers side block. I do still need to add a boss to it for what ever is on that side mounted to the block...filters maybe? Not too familiar with these engines so I am working on assumptions and what little pics I can find on the web. Paul
