Anyone buying Revell kits just in case?
SfanGoch replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, looks like nothing but air in the warehouse(s). That's been confirmed by the emails I received from various shops announcing new kits and restocked items. No Revellogram items listed at all in any of the announcements. -
A prime example of the food pyramid practically applied.

So, you're the guy who snagged it! I wanted to buy it; but, it was gone after i refreshed the page.

I was outbid in the last 5 seconds on that. I hate when that happens. -
Nothing better than a Funny Bone. Nothing more satisfying than eating a Funny Bone and washing it down with an Ice cold Yoohoo in front of somebody pretending to enjoy his healthy, wholesome locally sourced kale and bean sprout salad.

Well, it obviously worked for mredjr.

You would be asked to leave the premises if you said that in any real Noo Yawk pizza place. That's what I call a real slice. And, don't be stingy with them anchovies. While yer at it, pass me the garlic powder and crushed red pepper. Buon appetito!

Lots of respect and appreciation for 12 Bravos. We (11B Infantry) used to call them grunts with graders.
-
What, no anchovies?!?

It looks like Dark Red Metallic GM Color Code 79/WA8529.

Hobby Lobby/ Michaels ?

I also live on Lawnguylant....Brooklyn. Jan's qualifies in that respect. Just because a place is a mom & pop-sized operation doesn't automatically grant it some kind of protected status or sense of entitlement deserving my patronage. Jan's falls into that category. Taking advantage of the fact that you are the only hobby shop in Manhattan doesn't mean you can/should gouge your potential customers. Ditto on this point as well. If you want to help the small guys, you can order stuff from Gene Bagnoli, owner of S & J Hobbies in Staten Island. Gene literally runs his mail order business from his home. I've visited him and his place is packed like a warehouse. He's been doing it for over 35 years. He can get anything you want and at a super price without burning you. I've dealt with Gene for almost 30 years and am an extremely satisfied customer. Call him @ 917-292-2625 and support a real small guy. He's also a frequent vendor at IPMS/AMPS/NJHMA/Long Island Scale Model Society events. Anybody who has done business with Gene swears by him. -

Tell you what, Ron. You wanna support LHS's? Take a ride into Manhattan and visit Jan's Hobby Shop. You can support the joint to your heart's content paying up to 2 1/2 times MSRP for a kit. That's price gouging. Do a search for Jan's on this site and you'll see that I'm not exaggerating. I'm not going to get ripped off for something I can get online for almost 70% less just to keep their door open. -
Never overestimate the intelligence of ebay shoppers. If the parts melted together, sell those kits as "adult builts" and ask 60 bucks each. They'll bite.

Great idea, Steve. I'm going to pull out the AMT '58 Impala and see what I can do. I might have some extra spinners from the pile of AM Corvette Grand Sport kits in the closet. I was going to scratch the lights; but, your suggestion will be much simpler.

In order to model a '52 ford, the grille trim needs to be changed. This is what the grille trim from the Lindberg kit looks like This is is what I need: Major difference requiring a major facelift. I first reshaped and modified the front end of the Vic by adding styrene sheet to fill in the area underneath the headlights. That was the easy part. Now, I had to work out a plan to replicate the round parking light bezels. I calculated that they would be 6.5 mm in diameter. Okay, now where to get 6.5 mm styrene tubing? The art supply stores around me were out of what I needed. As I was pondering my next move, I was playing around with one of these Bic mechanical pencils. I disassembled it and found that the end of the barrel, underneath the white cap, is exactly 6.5 mm in diameter. Even better is that every part of the pencil, except for the end cap, is made from polystyrene! Lots of tubing for future requirements. So, I disassembled two pencils, used a diamond burr to thin the inner walls and got out the razor saw to cut two 2 mm thick rings to attach to the bumper. I beveled and polished the top edges and used the remainder of the ends as the body mounted trims. 11 mm of the bumper was removed on each side, the center bullet was drilled out and replaced with a scratched version with three blades. The grille bar was redone by filing and filling with Magic-Sculpt. The slots on the grille bar were drilled and shaped and the hood front to grille bar was also reworked. This is what it looks like at this time: I still need to make some minor adjustments on the ends of the hood front to grille bar ends so they will be flush with the body mounted parking light trim. I also need to make and cast some clear parking light lenses to fill in those trim rings. Feel free to comment, critique, criticize, tell me it looks like last week's garbage or make suggestions. I'm a big boy and can handle it.

No, it was quite intentional, my dear fellow.

Here it am it's made by Pacer Technologies. You can find it at hobby shops (if there are any left near you ), art supply stores, online. Google it and you'll see prices anywhere from $2.50 on ebay to $4.99+ in some online stores.

Feel sorry for what, that they're one level above idiot? They don't have to pay so much for stuff. Since they possess the minimal mental faculties to use a computer and log into ebay, it stands to reason that they should be able to use the search function to look for what they want at a much lower price. Then again, their heads probably whistle when standing outside in a stiff breeze.

Z-7 Debonder is great. Compared to BSI Un-Cure, it's far less aggressive and doesn't attack some types of styrene, i.e., causing them to craze or melt. The fact that it's a gel is a major plus, staying where you apply it.

It's "I couldn't care less", meaning that the amount of care and concern you have about something could not be any less, any lower. "I could care less" is the opposite and means that you do care at some level. So, which sentiment are you trying to convey? Incorrect grammatical usage is a pet peeve of mine. Most of the comments about the prices asked for the Foose pickup are along the line of "What a greedy dude to charge that much." It's a free market. The sellers can ask for whatever they want. Anyone actually buying the kit at those prices should definitely have their sanity questioned, though.

It's the simple things which make life worthwhile.

It's $887.18 now. Better hurry and snap it up before it goes to a grand.

The other half flew to Miami two hours ago to visit her sisters and won't be back until Wednesday.

What's not to like? It's a cop car.

If you don't already have that kit collecting dust and don't feel like spending $20+ just for the rotator, check out Custom Squads. They have a large selection of resin Federal Signals Beacon Ray lights.
