  1. Given the inability of present-day "engineers" to render accurate body dimensions with their fancy-schmancy CAD programs, how about laser scanning an actual vehicle? Reedoak does it to create the most accurate and detailed figures and accessories you ever laid eyes on. Big deal if that would increase the kit price by ten bucks. We all scream about accuracy and getting it right. If you want quality, you're gonna pony up the dough.
  2. Why? Just make a dio at a nude beach in Ibiza. I remember seeing a lot of, uh.......Sambas when I vacationed there.
  3. White cars with slap-on vinyl graphics has been the norm for a number of years. It saves the maintenance shops time and money by not having to paint the cars in multiple colors. From the 1930s until 1972, NYPD RMP's were painted in three colors. This is the classic Dark Green/Black/White scheme: From 1972 until 1996, RMP's were painted in a blue/white scheme And, from 1997 to the present, the fugly white with decal look
  4. The U.S. Army celebrates its 243rd birthday today. As the oldest and most senior branch of the U.S. military in order of precedence, the modern U.S. Army has its roots in the Continental Army, which was created by the Second Continental Congress on 14 June 1775 to fight the American Revolutionary War, with George Washington appointed as its commander—before the United States of America was established as a country. For 243 years, the U.S. Army has bravely answered the call to protect and defend the United States of America. Semper Primus.
  5. Decades ago, post office branches were open on Sundays with deliveries in the morning and pickups the evening. No postal workers union.
  6. Cool. It'll take some time to get things organized.
  7. Old news. Moebius was sold to Pegasus Hobbies in March. Steve, I just spoke with Larry of Pegasus Hobbies. He informed me that there is no phone/fax number. I mentioned that you emailed over a week agpand didn't get a reply. He said to resend the inquiry to customerservice@moebiusmodels.com.
  8. Yeah, they are different. In Milwaukee, kids might hear, "Get off my lawn!" Around here it's, Get off the stoop, you punks!", followed by a big pot of water dumped from a third floor window.
  9. Just like today's cars. What goes around, comes around. Should be an easy bit of surgery.
  10. '63 Belvedere. Painted posts.
  11. Fear not, model guy of the present! The answers to all (well, most) of your questions can be found in the 1963 Plymouth Interior Trim Parts Manual. Lots of drawings, plus material and part code info galore! Pics of a '63 Fury (base model). The interior windshield post covers are chrome, not painted. If you're interested in some more excellent interior/exterior reference photos, go to this link.
  12. I dunno about all this "hanging out at the hobby shop" stuff people keep mentioning. NOBODY just hung out in the hobby shop without buying anything when I was a kid. If you loitered around for more than twenty minutes, you'd get chased out because you looked like a shoplifter.
  13. Great job all around so far, Steve. Casting those lenses is a good idea. I'll remember that for the future.
  14. Digress all you want, man. It's my thread and I approve.
  15. I have a Dremel 8050-N/18 Micro Cordless Rotary Tool. By far, it's the best and most versatile rotary tool I've ever owned. I also use a Dremel keyless chuck on the Micro which I picked up at Widget Supply. It'll securely handle bits as small as .3 mm. This combination is great when I need to drill multiple holes. Pin vises are good; but, too darn slow, especially when drilling more than 100 holes at a time for resin nuts, bolts and rivets. Since the drill is multi-speed (5-28K), I set it at 5K rpm when using the smaller metric and decimal bits to drill styrene.
  16. Welcome to the Loyal Order of Pessimists Joe Btfsplk Grand Lodge 13 The beer and pizza`are on you.
  17. The worst thing you can do is ask an employee for information. Just because they happen to work there doesn't mean that they actually know anything.
  18. I could get a real Avanti for $8,750 and have change left over for a tank of gas.
  19. Eh, UFO and Sasquatch "experts" do it all the time.
  20. Today, Junior and I are having a`NYC Greek food cart-style Eye-talian sausage hero with lettuce, tomato and onions with homemade tzatziki sauce on seeded bread from Caputo's Bake Shop in Carroll Gardens. 26" of heart attack inducing deliciousness. No diet soda, man. We're washing this down with Manhattan Special Pure Espresso Coffee Soda. Buon Appetito!
  21. I made this Caddy deVille script with aluminum foil filled with CA glue this morning. Please excuse the photo quality. I don't have a macro lens and I had to enlarge the image a bit. The impression was filled with just enough CA so it would be flush with the foil and I could skip sanding the back flat. I then trimmed around the script with a scalpel blade (had my eyes checked last week. 20/15 vision in both eyes. ) and glued it to a piece of styrene sheet onto which I slapped some Floquil Verdigris. I used the back of a UMM scribing tool to remove the paint from and around the script, then polished it with Novus 2. It's a slapdash job so I could post a pic; but, you get the idea. One important thing not to overlook is to use a round toothpick, or a shaped piece of scrap wood, to burnish around the script and to push the foil into the loops of letters to give a sharper definition to your copy.
  22. Try finding one in the city.
  23. I used to go here in the '70s. One had to climb what looked like a grand staircase to reach the store on the second floor. Marshall Winston, the founder's son, was one of the grouchiest S.O.B.'s who ever lived and his lousy attitude trickled down to the employees. They would make an extreme effort not to be helpful. Lookers were always asked, "Are you gonna buy something or not?" Shopping here was one of the worst ordeals you'd ever experience. The only thing that made it worthwhile to go here were the great prices. Boy, I sure miss this place.......
  24. I see some incoming calls on the TV screen caller I.D. thingamajig identified as "SPAM? Info".
