  1. That's hilarious! And perfect timing. I needed a good laugh after the drive into work this morning. Icy roads and blowing snow! Joe: I probably won't do a WIP on this one. I want to see if I can even pull it off to my satisfaction or not at this point. This is new territory for me. But if I can make it look half as nice as your Corsair, I'll be happy. Sorry for hi-jacking this thread. I get sidetracked pretty... LOOK! A BUTTERFLY!!
  2. Looks great! I'm just getting into building planes (working on a Monogram P-40B currently), so I appreciate the warning about this kit. But wow, you'd never know you had issues looking at the finished product.
  3. Thinking about building another one of these. I've built the Revell kit (twice actually) over the years. The last time I built it was about 15 years ago, and looking at the finished product, I can do much better work now. So, how does the AMT kit compare to the Revell kit?
  4. Great build and great paint!
  5. Just awesome. Wouldn't change a thing.
  6. Very cool! That stands up to about anything being built today and yet still looks vintage (a good thing in my opinion). I have a couple from my youth I need to restore, but nothing this nice.
  7. Went to Hobby Lobby and Micheals today and picked these up for 40% and 50% off:
  8. I don't do resolutions, but when I do... wait a minute. I'm starting to sound like a beer commercial. As was said above - "build more, build better." That's been my only goal all along and that's why I'm here. I guess I'd also like to look into building a WWII warbird in plastic. B-17 maybe?
  9. Nice Pearls! Love that blue burst look. My drummer would be jelous.
  10. I'm trying to get a replacement axle from them right now. Opened up a brand new 69 Chevelle kit and found no metal axles. Sent in all the paperwork required about a month ago and haven't heard a thing yet.
  11. I don't remember what brand it was, but it was just called 'peach'. I got it in a rattlecan at wal-mart years ago. It's kind of a weird color. Depending on the light it can look anywhere from very pale to almost an orange sherbert color.
  12. Thank you all! Thanks! I just wasn't happy with the way there wasn't much to hold the hood in place. And I thought the rolling chassis/engine looked pretty cool by itself, so I glued the hood on and called it done. Kinda different.
  13. Wow. Your work is outstanding. Great builds.
  14. Here's another one I built about 14 years ago or so. Revell '37 Ford coupe. Just recently found it in a box... in pieces. I had originally tried something different when assembling it and used super glue for alot of it. It was still in one piece when it went into storage, but time wasn't kind to those glue joints. Anyway, just finished re-assembling it. As always, comments and construtive criticism are welcome. Check it out!
  15. Really nice builds! Wow. Love the detail on the '57 Chevy. How the heck did you simulate a busted side window?! Very cool.
  16. Beautiful. Love your choice of colors. I've got the same kit on my bench right now. Been working on it on-and-off for a LONG time. It is a little intimidating. Any problems with the build? I screwed up and put the motor in before I attached the stearing gear box. Then I couldn't make it fit right (no room for it). Was going really good up to that point.
  17. I know I'm done when there aren't anymore parts in the box.
  18. Thanks guys! Thanks Ray. Sinister was exactly what I had in mind when I built it.
  19. Finished this one this morning. This is the first kit I've actually finished in about 15 years. I started it about ten years ago and then it went on the shelf until recently when I got back into the hobby. Started life as a Revell "Street Fighter Two" kit. This was sort of a test-bed for some different techniques I wanted to try out. Mods include opening the hood (originally it's a flip-front end), lowering the front and rear suspension, shaving the roof ribs, and filling in the sun-roof and hood vents. As a side note, this is also the first time I've tried my hand at any sort of real photography. Pics came out so-so I guess. Better than I usually do. I'm always interested in improving my abilities, so any constructive critisism (about the car or the pics) is more than welcome. Enjoy!
  20. Looks great! How did it go together for you?
  21. Nice job! I always liked that body style.
  22. I LOVE it if they'd do one of these again. '74, '75, '76. Any (or all) of those years would be just fine with me.
  23. Nice! I've got a few pieces of Boogie gear too. Great stuff.
