  1. Wow! That's just killer!
  2. Great job on that one! And those rims... Way cool.
  3. Now that is a thing of beauty!
  4. While I'm waiting for paint to arrive for my P-40B, I dug this one out and took a look to see what needed done. Yes, this is yet another one from 15 years ago. This is the one that just about gave me a nervous breakdown. I hate doing BMF and this is not the kit for someone who doesn't like applying that stuff. Fortunately, I already had that part done. Here's where I am so far: Bodies almost ready for glass & interior and then I'll drop it over the chassis. Interior is finished. Yeah, more BMF in there too. Glad that parts done. I may add a little more weather/wash on the chassis. I did some, but I'm thinking it could use a little more on the exhaust.
  5. I always feel like it's one more opportunity to screw something up. Especially when the color coat has gone on really nicely. I shot a '70 Challenger in Panther Pink once. Came out awesome. Applied the decals, and shot it with clear to seal them. I got one nice big fish-eye right in the middle of the trunk. I ended up stripping the whole thing. Back in the box it went and I haven't looked at it since... 15 years ago. And the rest of the car is finished. By the way, I love that first one you have pictured. Beautiful car.
  6. Cool. And that's what makes this a great hobby. There's no right or wrong way to do this stuff.
  7. And my Wal-mart still sucks!
  8. Off topic but... Your Wal-Mart sells models? Lucky. My Wal-Mart sucks. Never mind. I re-read your post. I get it now.
  9. Sorry if this has been covered before. My question is: do you clear coat all your body's after color coating or not? As with everything else in this hobby, there is no right or wrong answer here. Everybody does things a little different and that's just the way it should be. I just want an idea of what everybody else does and why. Personally, I don't use clear coat unless I have to. Sometimes (to my eyes) a miles-deep wet looking clear coat looks almost like it's out of scale or something. Not sure how else to put it. I looks great, but at the same time not quite realistic maybe? Does that make sense? Not to say I haven't done it. Sometimes that's what a project calls for. About the only times I'll use clear are if the paint is metallic, or I need to seal decals better. If it's a solid color (non-metallic), I prefer not to clear coat. Looks more realistic to me. And I avoid clear over white at all cost. It has always turned yellow on me over time. Let's hear it. What's you take on this?
  10. That Revell MGB looks interesting. Like to pick one of those up.
  11. That cat has cool markings! Is that air-brushed?
  12. Picked these up today. Got the first two at Micheal's for 50% off each and the P-61 for 40% off at Hobby Lobby. Gotta love those coupons!
  13. Look here: http://www.alphaabrasives.com/index.php I just bought some of their sanding sticks at Hobby Lobby today. We'll see how well they work.
  14. That paint looks wet! Sweet ride.
  15. Cool. Thanks Kevin. No real updates to speak of yet. I've done a (very) little bit of filling and sanding of a couple pieces. The seat has a big notch molded into it for the pilot that needed filling. Filled in the hole for the belly tank. And filled the seam on the prop assy. That was a bit of a pain. Gonna check out the finger-nail files at wally-world tonight to see if I can find some better sanding tools for tight spaces. I also bought a ton of military paint. Can't wait for that to show up. So it's not stalled, but it's going pretty slow right now. Couple minutes each night. I'm cool with that.
  16. Cool combo! Love that Mustang.
  17. Tom, I know exactly what you mean. I have a '59 Impala I'm afraid to touch right now, because everything is going perfect. It's by far the best work I've ever done, and I know I'll screw something up soon...
  18. Awesome idea. I love that plane and that graphic will be killer on it!
  19. To tie in with the thread on percentage of kits you complete, why do your kits end up half finished and back into the stash? You know you have some of these. I have WAY too many stalled projects. Mine get stalled for one of two reasons primarily: 1) I get to a point where the next step is something I don't know how to do. This, for me, is the most common reason. The project then goes back into storage until I gain the knowledge I need to get the job done. Hoping to change that now that I found you fine people! 2) I screw something up and either don't want to deal with it at the moment or don't know how to fix it. So lets here it. What's your excuse!
