  1. Hi, Your work is amazing as always, looks like a real 1:1 subject. I've been back and forth on buying this kit due to cost vs parts count. But seeing your makes me want to buy it.
  2. Hi, Thank you all for such kind words!!! I've learned a good bit from this build and will apply that knowledge to my next memorial build; Eds Modelers Chaparral 2D. I remember when he bought it and was super stoked on the good deal that he got. It was in fact his final model purchase before his passing.
  3. Hi, Hell of a 2017 if you ask me. Very clean and sharp, I really like it.
  4. Hi, I have some ALC101 and Tamiya white primer and as a test sprayed a piece of Evergreen. Things turned out well, no weirdness. However I've had similar issues were something underneath the primer caused the top coat to react. I dare to say that this could have happened to you. The Tamiya primers are not sealers and it's feasible that a chemical reaction could have take place between what was above and below the primer. A fantastic site regarding Alclad; http://www.austinsms.org/Alclad-Lacquer-Metal-Finishes.php
  5. Hi, Wow, looks very very clean, I would have never thought anything was a miss with the kit.
  6. Hi all and many many many thanks for the rather inspiring words. I'm very excited to start on my next project.
  7. Hi Bill and many thanks for such nice words. The inserts are from ScaleProduction and fit 15-16" wheels; http://www.scaleproduction.de/product_info.php?info=p2180_15--16--wheel-rings.html
  8. Hi, Unsure if this will fit the bill but Detail Master makes some wonderful PE spoke wheels. There 40 spoke has an O.D. of 14.5mm. You can find there wheel inserts here; http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=e9a357b41d8f0a32801ed9454902676a&Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=detailmaster&Category_Code=PEWD They have there 72 spoke version here which is not in there wheel insert section; http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=e9a357b41d8f0a32801ed9454902676a&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=detailmaster&Product_Code=DM-3170&Category_Code=DM-PhotoEtchedParts
  9. Hi and thank you all for such wonderfully kind words. I teared up a bit. My next build will be even better and I'm pretty amped about it. Boy I sure do love our hobby and our community.
  10. Hi, This build is dedicated to my dear and late friend Ed Erbeck Jr, ie; CrazyEd. He was very kind, friendly and a genuinely great guy with many interests. Ed had passed away earlier this year much to my dismay and to the dismay of many others. I was however fortunate enough to buy a few of his most treasured kits, the Chaparrals and boy did he love them! Special thanks to his dearest wife Carol for making this happen. I'm sure Ed would have been pleased in what I've done with his Chaparral coupe. The build was bitter sweet in that I loved building his kit but hated why it came to be. At any rate, this is the first of 4-5 planned memorial builds in his name. Now on to the kit, I think Monogram did a fantastic job as the body is superb. Great shape, good molded detail etc... The rest of the kit is, well, basic but offers great opportunities for customization. A few things I would have done different; 1) Added several more coats of white paint. 2) Made my own glass as the kit glass was too thick. 3) Found some Chaparral cartograph or other high quality decals. Other then that, I'm very pleased with myself especially being some what of a newbie and struggling. I was going to bloviate about all the added detail but will instead defer to the pictures as they speak for them selves. I hope you all enjoy. PS I'm trying imgur for photo sharing as imgbox resizes the images were as imgur doesn't.
  11. Hi, Wow, this is flawless!
  12. Hi and thank you sir.
  13. Hi, They blew over me during the past weekend and are on there way North to Santa Barbara. It's been a while since there were big fires here in the area which means there is plenty of fuel. Once it's said and done, I'd count on anther 10+ years of lesser fires.
  14. Hi, I wish Ed was still here as he would have loved this one.
  15. Hi and thank you sir. I also emailed Master Box as they seem to have a WW2 bicycle that's a bit better, I found out about it here; http://web.ipmsusa3.org/content/german-military-bicycle-wwii-era
  16. Hi, Well in an effort to help, I've emailed a company named Royal Models regarding dimensions as they've a 1/35 WW2 era bicycle; http://www.royalmodel.eu/en/afv-microdetails-set/347-german-bicycle-wwii-135.html?search_query=bicycle&results=1
  17. Hi, I found this little nugget, Fujimi Garage Tools Trek. Kit instructions; https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10070514/70/1
  18. Hi, Is robbing this kit a possibility as it has a bicycle in it whose wheels could work? Here are the instructions for it; https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10171131/70/2
  19. Hi, Wow the paint is flawless. Looks fantastic all around.
  20. HI, Yes I know, however this model has been done very well by many others in its proper historical form that I wanted to add something different. I don't build for 1:1 historical accuracy but rather as a creative outlet.
  21. Hi, BMFd the headlights and added various aluminum accents. Scratch built some antennas etc... Gonna see if I can paint side marker lights later.
  22. Hi, W0W, this is super cool and super fun. Makes me wanna get one and do the exact same thing. Awesome work!
  23. Hi, This is pretty darn hot, very nice execution.
  24. Hi, Why thank you sir(s). Almost done with the body, waiting on some styrene tubes for axles. I wish to put my best foot forward for Ed.
