  1. Hi all, While I'm enjoying Tamiya and Vallejo, what do you like for colors like yellow, white and any other hard to brush paint colors that I haven't touched on? I'm finding that having an array of tools at my disposal lends to a smoother building experience. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks dude! I was gonna re visit and lower it as that will really set the car off. But knowing my luck something will go terribly wrong so I'll leave it be.
  3. The ocean; my church, the waves; my savior, the surf board; my vehicle to salvation.
  4. Ok I'm stealing your pencil idea. Brilliant!!!
  5. Wow man, totally killer. I've always loved this car. I wonder what kind of mastery you'd do on the 1/12 scale version of this kit.
  6. Thanks for all the nice words. I'm über appreciative.
  7. Hi, I was a bit out of my depth on this one and will instead focus my next few builds on simple curb sides to develop building skills. Now, onto my 5th build, or is it my 6th? It's a bash of Revells 356 and AMTs Swamp Rat, both in 1/25. What I learned; 1) Some paints are not compatible with some primers. Symptoms include; - The paint bugerizes, meaning it never dries (resoluablizes) and starts to clump. It also cracks and orange peels in areas. * To avoid this, test and if you wanna use incompatible products, apply a sealer between the paints. In my case, the Design Master Rose Gold which I think is better on bare plastic, has plasticiser which is incompatible with my Tamiya primer which also has plasticiser. Combining the two met with utter disaster as the primer and paint started to re liquify in spots and remained in this wierd semi damp/gooey state. My solution was to apply a sealer, in this case Design Master Super Surface Sealer to the primer before final color was applied. 2) Many items didn't fit right after final glue/paint was applied even though I test fit "some" items. - My dash, rear wheels and wheelie bar were totaly out of alignment and crooked. * Test fit "everything" period. Or atleast key parts which you can identify with experiance. If you don't have enough experiance, test fit it all. I plan to use Rose Gold on my HRM Cheetah which is a bit down the line. But the color combo will be brilliant! * Special mention goes to CrazyEd for inspiring this build. I also have planned, in large part due to his idea, to build a crazy cafe type racer from a 356 and a Porsche Indy car. But that's perhaps by this fall or so. PS I wished I would have had it a bit lower but again, this has to do with test fitting and better planning. Oh well...
  8. Thanks man! Yep sanding em now. The lettering is soo poor that its the only option.
  9. Hi, I've got these tires with bloody raised letters. Not having much luck painting, dry brushing etc as the lettering itself is very poor. Are you all simply sanding em down and using decals instead?
  10. The thing I like about HF is that it's all the cheap Chinese made fromage under 1 house/brand. One stop shop of disposable tools and if they last a while, hey it's a bonus. I've got some old SnapOn, Mac and Craftsman tools from 30 years ago for serious tasks. But the HF stuff has a place.
  11. Oh, sorry, got confused. I meant Matalizer and not BMF. Sorry again, I dunno why I thought the OP meant Metalizer other then I was working with it last night. Metalizer on the brain I suppose.
  12. Well I've done it and it defeats the purpose in that it dulls the shine a bit. That is depending on how much you've buffed it out. But then again I'm on my 5th build and don't have much experience in general.
  13. Man what beauty!!! The lightweight E-Type engine looked very similar yes?
  14. WOW, what a looker!!! Thanks for posting.
  15. I love this kit, albeit haven't personally laid eyes on it. http://www.profil24-models.com/model-kits-modeles-reduits/en/gamme-au-1-24e/77-jaguar-type-e-light-weight-le-mans-1964.html
  16. Brilliant! They should give whomever was caught a medal, or at least a slice of pizza!
  17. That is a good price. My LHS carries the Tamiya thin for $6 but that's 40ml (~1.4oz). So for a bit more the 2x the $ is less.
  18. Seems like they are a ways off, perhaps fall or so?
  19. Wow, the car is brilliant. Very cool Heller is re-releasing it.
  20. Oooooo juicy! Stoked on Aoshima.
  21. Cool deal, thanks James.
  22. Any more updates on Aoshima? Hoping we get some juicy tidbits now that the toy fair is over..
  23. Totally killer. This will be an awesome build! PS So now I know what you'll be doing with that Revell parts pack turbine engine thingy. Wow man, this will be a car I'd love to drive in 1:1 even.
