, , , and I don't think anyone's gonna score a $175.000 Beach Bomb out of a discount bin nowadays.?
-
A good buddy of mine worked at Toys R Us back about 30 years ago. I remember him telling me about people doing that back then. They'd find out when the new shipment came in and hit the racks as soon as the store opened looking for the "treasure hunt" cars and any other rare ones. Hasn't seemed to have affected Hot Wheels in any way I can see.

What did you see on the road today?
Can-Con replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Dave but I no longer have it. After my aunt passed away, my uncle Steve asked if he could have it back to work on to keep himself busy and his mind off other things. What could I say? ? -
Ray's also has sheets with just underhood decals for Ford, Mopar and GM.

They were just a tick over 18 feet. The Electra that's been in out family since '74 is 18 and 3/4 feet and it's definitely longer then a Parisienne. -

No, "just" about 18 and 1/2 feet. ? -
By the way, here's a pic from one of those auctions so you know the wheel covers are actually in the kit.
-
The Prestige edition of the convertible had the full wheel covers. I don't know if any of the issues after that had them though. There are a few on e-bay but they're about twice the price of the newer releases.
-
Mike, are you going to be at the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton next weekend?
-
Looks great. They did a nice job on the engine bay of that kit considering it was originally a snapper. I'd like to find one of those duel snorkel air cleaner assemblies for my 1/1 '85 Trans Am but there pretty hard to come by now. ???

Starting a new old project, tubbed '77 Volare Road Runner
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here's a little more progress. Have the wheel tubs done. Not real pretty but they don't need to be. They can't be seen with the tires on. Also have been working on the front air dam. The ends are the last leftover, ruff parts I cast from my original Super Pac Road Runner that made the cover of MCM years ago and the center section is in the last issue of the '80 from a couple years ago. Unfortunately, the center is the only part still in the kit. -
Looks good Jeremy but why did you paint the bottom of the cargo area silver?

Finger nail powder chrome works great
Can-Con replied to my66s55's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Working on it. ? -
Sounds like you got a good game plan figured out for it Daryl. One thing to be aware of though is the '66/'67 GM mid-size cars were also on a slightly longer wheelbase then the '68/'72 cars.

Finger nail powder chrome works great
Can-Con replied to my66s55's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
It seems to me that any time someone does a post on a home "chrome" product, someone [or more] feels the need to point out that there are other products that they feel are better. People are passionate about what they like and what they are used to suing and doing. I understand that but I don't understand how it seems to evolve into a "hot topic button" situation, even though I have been sucked into it myself. [I regret that] It's getting almost as bad as a politics or religion post for some reason. ? -
Revell '69 Pontiac GTO/Judge kit HPI guys review.
Can-Con replied to Mike C.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's just because it is. -
I don't think you'll be getting an answer from Dwayne, he hasn't been on here for about a year and a half. ?
-
Looks good. Hope you get your price for it.
-
No disrespect perceived, I did mean I will legitimately tell him you liked it. ,, not a joke.
-
I know exactly who's model that is, Steve. I'll let him know you liked it when I see him in a couple weeks. ?
-
Looks great to me, Phillip. Great color for those cars. Since you asked for tips, those wheels arn't Cragars, they're Hurst wheels. Not as common and IMHO, suit the car more then Cragars would. ?, , [as much as I like Cragars too]

Personally, I don't use plastic to make the seams. I run a strip of masking tape where I want the seams to be and put a thin layer of putty on the edge. When it's dry, I sand the putty down to the tape and bupp the tape off. This goves a thin, crisp strait seam. I also do the "overspray from a distance " thing to finish it off.

Wow, that's really something. I know the new ones are higher but it's the width that gets me. Some kind of optical illusion I guess.
-
I know they're Challengers Rob, I mis-typed. and, yes, the newer ones do sit about 4 inches higher. The '70 still looks a lot smaller then it should in that pic though.
