  1. Well Bob, no good deed goes unpunished sometimes. ?
  2. And, Bob, the chrome silver paint on those old kits probably hasn't dried yet and is still flowing like water. ??
  3. You do know, Carl, If you hover over someone's avatar to the left of the screen, there pops up a small menu. At the bottom right on that menu is an "ignore" button. It will save you from having to look at posts from anyone you don't want to interact with on this site. ? BTW, I should add, I didn't mean this post in a mean to hurtful way at all, just mentioning a feature that some on this board don't know about.
  4. They do look a touch big on the kit but I think that's from most of the ones I've seen so far have the headlight surrounds painted silver. I think if the surrounds were painted black they'd look A-1.
  5. I figured it was under another name on some charts so I checked for the color code on "Tran-Zam.com" and cross referenced the color code with the chart at Auto Color Library. Here's the Tran-Zam page with all the '79 color references,, https://www.tran-zam.com/fhistory/1979Colors.aspx
  6. Was very nervous about cutting the hole in that hood. They're not exactly easy to come by any more. But, I did it and added a little flat black accent. I'll let it dry overnight, clean it up a bit and foil the trim tomorrow.
  7. It's code 69 "dark brown poly", Steve. All the colors look darker then they should on this chart.
  8. Made up a 6 point roll bar. Probably should add a verticle bar across the main hoop too. Also did the plug wires on the engine.
  9. Yes, that's kinda high for the humidity. It could cause it. Try another coat and hitting it immediately with a hair dryer to see if that helps. Don't get the model too hot though, of course, you just want to heat the paint up a bit after it hits the model to keep the humidity from collecting on the paint.
  10. Sonny, I should mention, one thing to watch out for with these Camaro kits is how the tail lights sit in the body. On mine and a couple others I've seen built, the bezels sit a bit wonky in the body. They're higher on the outside then the inside towards the center of the car. You should be able to see what I mean in the pic. I didn't notice it until after I had taken the pics but after seeing it I noticed it in a few other builds of the kit from other people. I don't know, maybe I got the lights on the wrong sides but they looked exactly the same to me. Or maybe the openings are a bit off, I don't know. But it's something to watch out for.
  11. I had a '74 Bobcat wagon. ?
  12. So, anyone know exactly what year that Pyro kit came out? I'm thinking sometime in the early 1/2 of the '50s. Has to be one of the earliest plastic car kits ever made.
  13. Most of the body parts are directly from the stock annual kit. That tail light piece was from that kit and probably cheaper to leave on the tree then pay to have someone remove it.
  14. These kits ARE NOT reissues of the original curbside kits based on the promos. They are completely new tooling BASED [cloned] on them.
  15. Just klik on the response box and it pops up in a light blue strip at the bottom of the response box. Just look directly below what your typing and there it is. Just klik on "choose files".
  16. I've never tried posting directly from my computer before. Thanks for explaining it guys. BTW, this is the pic I use for my avatar on the music sites I belong to. I took it a couple years ago and it was not staged. This was taken along a side road to a lake I was working at. The deck caught the corner of my eye as I was driving by. It was about 20 feet from the road. looks like it was there for a while. No, I didn't take it with me, I left the scene undisturbed. Looked too cool to touch. ?
  17. That was definitely changed since I had looked at it James. It did say 1994, not '74 and the kits with the Rolls custom Beetle weren't even on the page.
  18. It was reissued in '74 according to the Dave's Showrod Rallye page on the kit. It doesn't mention any later reissues. Don't believe it was reissued after that. Anyone can go on Scalemates and edit the content. Heck, I could go on there and say it was reissued in 2020 in purple and green swirl plastic complete with resin figures of Tom Daniel and Mickey Mouse and no one would correct it and it would be repeated all over the internet for the next 50 years as truth. ? http://www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/muscle_bug.html
  19. In the mail. LOL ? But, I did tell you in the first response to your post I was having some made up. They didn't cost that much to have made and I'm sure STS could easily do up a sheet for you. https://stsdecals.com/
  20. Interior is mostly done. I still need to add a shifter handle. and I think I'll add the brake, gas and clutch pedals. Also strongly considering adding a 4-point roll bar and maybe seatbelts???
  21. Had some decals custom made up by STS in anticipation of future projects. Missing from this sheet are black, white and light aqua sets that were somehow left off the sheet.
  22. Yup. I've been doing this for over 50 years and still can't do what Steve does, probably never will be able to either. Steve is like a 5th degree black belt building model cars, that didn't happen overnight. It's like everything else. To be really good it takes practice and dedication, no shortcuts in learning any skills.
  23. Here's a link to the brochure for the '68 Chevelles. It shows the SS with the black wheel and instrument panel and the Malibu and Concours with different colored wheels and panel. BUT these details sometimes change during a production run or if certain parts were out of stock. That's why they sometimes ended up with Buick or Pontiac seats from the factory. http://oldcarbrochures.org/United States/Chevrolet/1968-Chevrolet/1968-Chevrolet-Chevelle-Brochure-Rev/index.html
  24. Here's another video, looks even more impressive.
