  1. I intend to, Joe. I'll probably start a new thread in OTW though.
  2. That's a great price. Why do I never get that lucky?
  3. I could stand it no longer; today I prepped the body for paint, so tomorrow i primer, and if all is good, start shooting color coats.
  4. Received the kit yesterday, and am very anxious to make a start of it.
  5. Nice! I had one of those too, painted it a very similar color in fact.
  6. Where did you ever even find one? I haven't seen a Wren in decades.
  7. Exactly what I'd like to avoid, Brizio. I've seen many of these action figures used in large scale dioramas and vignettes, and they just look too "doll like" to me. Thanks anyway though.
  8. Just a variation on an existing method really, Tim. I had noticed that while painting with MM metallics (the buffing variety), that while buffing, the fine powder collects in the rag, so I decided to buff the gray magazine with a rag that I used to buff a test sheet of plastic that I painted for the purpose, and sure enough, enough of the powder transferred to the magazine to give a worn metallic look to it. In conjunction with washes and some scratches added with steel colored pencil, they should look really cool, I hope.
  9. I had an overwhelming desire to paint something today, as well as try something that might give the metal components a natural, worn look, so I grabbed a magazine, prepped and painted it. I'm very happy with the results from this method. My brain said it would work OK, but you can never be sure until you try it out.
  10. OK, hinges and strap plate are now a bit more visible after this cruddy wash, whereas they were almost invisible before. Lid is now all squared up too.
  11. I have no idea regarding the sails, but the ship looks great.
  12. Nice color selections too. I've got some diecast John Deere and Case tractors here, I sort of collect them.
  13. Testors makes a nice copper, I'd spray it with that. Nice progress otherwise though.
  14. Unlike some here, I don't have a bottomless pit of finances, so when I do get something new, it thrills me to pieces. This will be done as a tribute to a never finished car from my younger days, here. Box stock, and a very similar color (Testors Mystic Emerald).
  15. Excellent deal with Gregg (lordairgtar);... fast shipping and excellent packaging. Thanks a ton, Gregg, I appreciate it very much.
  16. Thanks, Tim. I'm very happy with the progress to date. Looking very much forward to the time to begin painting, I can say that.
  17. I'm not a big fan of the foose designs, at all, but some new stock kits would be very welcome indeed, and I hope that's the route Revell takes.
  18. One last overview for the day (I just couldn't resist). I did this once before, but images failed to upload from my camera.
  19. Remaining wood blocks added. As I suspected, they'll never truly show, so I haven't bothered adding all (32) bolts.
  20. I discovered that the arm attached to the gun sight mechanism, had snap rings in either end, so I've faked one in here, as a test. Looks OK, just a little tweaking, and It's finished.
  21. Yep, I was already aware of those figures, G, but they look too toy like for my taste. Many of the guys over on SAG use them, but I just think they look odd. Thanks anyway. Thanks, Joe, I'm slowly getting there I think.
  22. I too have lofty goals that exceed my abilities. I try anyway, because I figure I just lose if I don't try.
  23. My first attempt at the latch. Not bad, but needs to be refined, that's for sure. I'll save this one as a reference to make the necessary adjustments on the next ones.
