Yea, Ray, there always seems to be some sort of airborne fuzz-wads and crud that manage to get sucked into the airflow. I guess that's yet another reason sandpaper was invented.
Thanks, Ray. The translucency of the paint sometimes causes me problems, and the insane spraying characteristics of the paint also contribute to the overall color getting darker and darker.
OK, color on, and it looks great (at least to me anyway). A few boo boos, but not too bad really. I really like these Testors metallic lacquers, and will undoubtedly be buying lots more. Most of the now discontinued colors can also still be easily purchased.
Cool project. A very good high school buddy (now deceased) had a '65 GTO convertible. We rebuilt the 389 (with some extra goodies), and it ran really great! I miss those days, I can tell you that.
Yea, Snake, the Duplicolor primer is hardly phased, but the green just floats away. I love it. Now if I can just paint it again, using a bit of patience, I might just end up with a good looking car after all.
So far, so good, Ben. All of the green from the top half is now gone and bottom half of kit is now soaking. I have a very good feeling that I'll be able to salvage this body, and begin repainting this week. Yeehah!
Somewhat bored this afternoon (as well as working on another project), I did decide to make a test template for the finger connections that will be added once the crate is painted. Obviously this template needs to be refined (or rebuilt), but the test turned out OK. I've also freehanded some screw slots to see if they'll look OK, and I believe they will, though I'll make a template for those as well, ensuring some consistency.
OK, I just immersed the Mustang in 91% alcohol, and the alcohol immediately attacked the green, so perhaps I'll be able to strip this back enough to repaint after all, as this car is the one I'd really prefer to finish first, if doable.
Yeah, Jesse, waiting can be very frustrating, that's for sure, but tomorrow will be here soon enough. In the meanwhile, I'm immersing my Mustang in alcohol (91%), to see if it's salvageable. I certainly hope so.
Primer is on, and I see no issues, so tomorrow it gets color. I'm out of clear, which is perhaps a good thing, saving me a frustrating replay of the last two botched episodes.
