From two different angles? It almost looks like photos of prints hanging on a wall or something. Interesting.

Very interesting. Thanks, Paul. -
Why are there reflections of the photographer in the photos?

Help needed in identifying car
Roadrunner replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree 100%, Gaute. I'm considering attempting the same thing; buying a model that is as close as I can get, then convert or scratch the rest, assuming I'm up to that. -

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. -
Looks good to me. I only wish I could churn one out that fast.

For what it may be worth, DACO makes what is probably the best BONE reference book ever done. -

Oh, and as far as I can tell, gear wells (nose and main), are white, not green. -

I've never built it. Heck, I've never even owned it, but always wanted to get one. And you're right, it is big; I've seen a couple built at shows. -
We routinely ask that if a contestant has questions or issues with the judging, that they simply ask for an explanation from one of those judges. It doesn't really seem to come up all that frequently, but from time to time, they do ask why they didn't place higher, or at all. The biggest boo boo I ever personally saw, was the inadvertent reversal of the data on two nearly identical aircraft, from two different builders. The aircraft that should have won first, won third, and vice versa. We sorted out what had happened, but in the meanwhile, the first place winner had already grabbed his kit and award and left the venue.

Whats the weirdest kit in your stash?

I love it, Pete. Such a beautiful design. -
Help needed in identifying car
Roadrunner replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree, Gaute. Not one single car that I've ever owned in my life, has a comparable model of it, not in stock form anyway. The closest is probably the MPC '74 Pinto, and even it cannot be built with the same specific attributes as the car I actually owned;... close, but not quite the same. It's rather sad really, but I'll just have to fake it I guess. Another one that I originally thought might be close, but is not, is the Lindberg 1:32 scale '75 Buick Century. Similar body style, but not exactly the same, and sourcing the correct factory wheels in 1:32 scale, would be nearly impossible, as far as I can tell. -
We try to read the data about whatever the modeler has presented regarding the model in question, assuming the model has passed muster before that. In other words, assuming that the model may be a real contender, extra work noted is taken into account, to be used as a comparison against the other contenders. I've been judging at local and regional IPMS contests for years now, and that's the way we always do it. Judges, no matter how clever, can never be expected to immediately recognize what has been done to a model.

Modeling things you hate/love
Roadrunner replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In my case, I attribute that to too much coffeine. -
Any one of these three; Paasche H or VL, or my Iwata Revolution CR, not a top of the line Iwata, but it works fabulously, and was within my budget at the time. I used a Badger 350 for many years, but it eventually died, so I stepped up to the Paasche H as a replacement. We painted a zillion paint masters for the toy industry with the H model, so I became sold on it, it's a very utilitarian tool.

1:385th, what an odd scale. How's the kit? -
I have both a 150 and 200. Had both for years, and as far as I recall, never used either. I've heard folks say they get real good results with both though. Have fun.

Gorgeous models. I can only aspire to make mine look so cool.

Looks great. I'm planning on doing two; one as a street rod, and one stock as it would have appeared in the 30's. I like your use of the lighter green for the windshield frame, I'm considering flat black for mine.
