  1. Masking the interior wood areas with liquid mask was a sound idea but poorly executed. I'll have to very carefully repaint them.
  2. Playing with the front end some more. This is still not quite right, but certainly an improvement over where I'd been before. In retrospect, I really wish I'd painted all of this before attaching to car, and I certainly will on the next one. Paint is already chipping off the spoilers, and that's the reason for not painting them black yet.
  3. I just spotted the pink sub in the background. What's the story with that? Operation Petticoat?
  4. Yes you were, Matt. I was looking at a different (and specific) boxing of the '65, and it had the wrong camper. You were absolutely right though, and I appreciate the help very much. To be able to pull off that old '59, seems very doable now, and that pleases me a ton. For reasons that I can't quite nail down, I have a very strong desire to build again, a few of my favorites from my youth. A need to reconnect with my own past I suppose.
  5. I hear ya', Joe. Sometimes it's a matter of my not doing what needs to be done, but doing instead what I want to do, that gets me in trouble. I have to presume that at some point I'll grow up, but so far,... nothing.
  6. Paint looks excellent, and I really like that top.
  7. In the spirit of this thread, here's a photo of a Christmas stash of mine from long ago. I'm guesstimating this was taken around 40 years ago or thereabouts. In a touch of irony, that same card table, is what my computer is sitting on at this very moment.
  8. Thanks very much, Jim. This model should pose no real problems for someone that's knocked out a few cars, but I tend to take the long way around the park sometimes, adding unnecessarily to my own problems. Adding the decals as early as I did, was a typical "I can't wait" sort of silly approach. I knew it was a bad idea, but went ahead and did it anyway.
  9. After seeing yours and several others, I'm just going to have to paint something red.
  10. I'm not sure I've got the courage to chop up a model like that. My hat's off to you.
  11. Definitely different. The weathered pink is novel.
  12. I'll be interested to see what that color looks like on the body.
  13. I had to do the same to a Challenger I'm working on. Some color misted onto the too light areas, coated with clear, then wet sanded, and it looks great. You should have no real problems with small touch-ups like that. Good luck.
  14. Red rocks, or at least generally it does. Your three all look good to me.
  15. Awesome, Chris, thanks. I was able to find this one, and indeed the camper shell is identical. Too cool.
  16. I just saw him the other night in an episode of The Twilight Zone. He did bit parts in a lot of TV shows.
  17. I'm not too familiar with 1:72 scale, so I can't really answer that. I'd just do a web search, and go from there.
  18. If you ever do decide to tackle the Vasa, I have this book on the ship. I'd be more than happy to get you a copy.
  19. PBY, Do 24, He 115, BV 222, BV 138, they're all cool. I have a 1:48 Airacobra I'll be doing as a Lend-Lease VVS subject,... eventually.
  20. I can definitely relate. Good news indeed. I'll hunt one down, and see what's what. That old 59 had to be one of my all-time top 5 favorites from when I was a kid.
  21. Oh yes, but I'll be grabbing another kit in the not too distant future anyway (I hope). If I cannot get another kit in time, I may just slap the custom wheels on it, and live with the screwed up decal for the contest.
  22. Agreed. The more, the merrier. I'm already getting sweaty palms about the next car I'll be doing, though I don't dare start it until this one's finished.
  23. This one has not been without it's problems, Jeremy. I've mangled the stock wheels beyond repair, so have to grab another kit to finish this one. Also, owing to damp hands I guess, a small piece of the passenger side decal stripped off, and has disappeared.
  24. That car looks utterly wicked, Steve. Just beautiful.
