  1. What I said is not entirely true, as MPC did one, but I've not been able to find one for sale anywhere. Perhaps Round 2 will eventually re-release it; I can only hope.
  2. I'd go LED myself. Great economy, and they barely throw off any heat at all.
  3. I like the Voodoo. Is that the Monogram/Revell kit?
  4. Me too, though I'd really prefer 1:32. The Meng 1:72 kits are supposed to be pretty decent and they do both Case X and Case XX wings.
  5. There's a HL not too far from here, and I've not been there for several months, but I will be going in a couple of weeks.
  6. No books as such, but I did regularly buy copies of Model Car Science magazine.
  7. I agree 100% What also bugs me is the inevitable small amounts of chrome flash that exists on most chrome wheel rims (at the mold parting line) and aren't sanded off or dealt with in some manner. I also cringe when I see badly applied chrome BMF; no foil is better than bad foil, at least as I see things. (I tend to avoid models that require a lot, as I really suck at it, whereas someone like Steve G has apparently totally mastered it.) Monster truck tire treads on street car tires also annoy me, and are present in so many kits, it seems. Glossy tire treads are another annoyance. My own issues with my models are inconsistencies with "tooling upgrades". The AMT '32 Ford Victoria pops to mind; modern fancy new engine coupled with driveshaft, rear end and suspension system originally designed for a 90 year old car. As an aircraft and armor modeler, I guess I'm just spoiled by choice, as new kits flow like a river, whereas with what I see as the more desirable car models, I'm generally stuck with 60 year old kits that most certainly reflect their antiquity.
  8. I wanted aluminum, I now have aluminum. I'm pretty happy with this so far.
  9. Thanks, buddy. I'm trying to get a little done each day now. If this thing comes out even half as nice as I'm expecting/hoping, I'll be a very happy guy indeed. In addition to our annual IPMS show here in September, there's also the MMVA show in October, and I'd really like to enter this in both contests.
  10. If and when anyone ever releases a 1:32 F-102, I'll be all over it.
  11. I'm sort of thinking the reverse; using the guts from this kit (with a complete engine change), to doctor up another Model A kit that already has the basic body structure in place. It's certainly something I'll be considering.
  12. If this kit had fenders, I'd be all over it. Still might be good for parts though.
  13. Could be. Aside from the oddball scale, at least the price is right, even for me.
  14. Very nice indeed.
  15. Now this is very cool. Good job.
  16. Nice! I'll probably end off selling my '71; not even really sure why I bought it in the first place, to be honest.
  17. I like this a lot. Real nice job.
  18. I really like fact that there's so little chrome to deal with. I'm going to go ahead and buy one.
  19. One thing that I fortunately caught in time, is that the kit hood opening for the included shoe box scoop, while fine for that, is narrower than the Hilborn style scoop that I’ll actually be using on this model, so I’ll be widening the opening just a wee bit.
  20. Dash gets some careful dry brushing. Looks OK, I think, not great, but at least OK. Some careful dial trim and a touch-up here and there, and I'll call this finished.
  21. Engine gets some gloss white lacquer as a base for the Alclad to come. I had actually painted this a few days ago, but found some minor boo-boos that needed correcting. The ejector pins on the headers will be hidden by the fender inserts, so I'm not sweating those.
  22. I had a Dodge Polara wagon in my youth, a '64 I believe, and would greatly appreciate seeing a kit of that.
  23. I'm sure I could drum up something here (I have piles of aviation related models), perhaps an F-86 or something. Good idea.
  24. Excellent. Thanks a lot, fellas, I'll go ahead and snatch it then. It'll probably make a great curbside model, it sounds like.
  25. This makes me feel that the kit bash between the two may be very, very doable then. I'll give it a shot, regardless.
