Very cool indeed.

After considerable effort, we've erected a rather large, squirrel proof enclose to protect the tomato plants here, as last year the little tree rats devastated them, and the plants have really been flourishing. Today I discover that hornworm caterpillars, are eating the daylights out of the foliage! I guess that tomorrow I'll have to spray them down with an appropriate insecticide.

I know, and I love Hobby Lobby for that, amongst other reasons. They'll be getting business from me from now on, that's for sure.

Another one bites the dust uh
Roadrunner replied to horsepower's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree. Many of those stores also have a large online presence, so the savvy store owners that want to remain in business, just change their sale model to adapt. I have a friend that just closed his shop, but he's doing just as well as before, perhaps better, than his store itself was doing. As pertains to Hobby Lobby, though the auto model selection is rather limited, it's become my go-to shop. The 40 % off helps a lot, plus I really rather like their philosophy and the fact that they sell so much cool Christmas stuff. -
Hobby Lobby even sells them now, so it's only a matter of time for me.

Harry seemed a real good and decent chap, and I was saddened to hear the he lost his fight. RIP, Harry.

I've heard they're quite excellent, but haven't grabbed one yet.

Photobucket Problems
Roadrunner replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As photo heavy as this site tends to be, that'll add up quick to a shed load of photo storage. I'm glad to hear it though, mighty glad. -
Too bad this would probably require all of the magazines, and I have zero copies of any of them. I really like the site, but I don't believe I've ever bought the magazine.

What non-auto model did you get today?
Roadrunner replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I really hate that I've lost all of my PB images here on MCM, but that seems to be a world wide phenomenon right now. Quite annoying, actually. -
OK, new purchase from Hobby Lobby today, a repayment to me for a favor done for a friend. I've always liked the look of the El Camino, so this is a terrific addition for me.

What non-auto model did you get today?
Roadrunner replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I've been away from MCM for a while now (involved in some other stuff), but have added a few more non-car related kits to the stash. 1:32 Revell ECR Tornado, which I'll be building as a Saudi IDS. 1:32 Z-M A-1H Skyraider. -
Indeed they are, at least to me. I've added several more, since my last posting.

I've never been to one of my HS reunions, and will probably never go to one. It may seem somewhat narrow minded, but I don't want to see a bunch of fat old ladies and men, that I still remember as being teenagers.
-
I think this would be a grand gesture, and I'm all for it.

The passion seems to ebb and flow for me too. While I was very enthusiastic about cars for a while again, I've switched back again (at least temporarily) to military. While my passions for hobby stuff in general, can sometimes fade to nothing, I always seem to eventually bounce back. I guess I'm sort of a "never say never" kind of person, at least in this particular respect.

I had occasion to run out to Hobby Lobby today, so grabbed this with the 40% off. I really would have preferred this be a ’66, but this will have to do. It’ll be built box stock, as an homage to my own ’66, whenever I get back to some car modeling again.

Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
Roadrunner replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, just wow. I hadn't logged on here in quite a while, but I remember that he was alive and well then. I'm very, very sad to hear of his passing, I truly am. -
Oh yes, snacks of all sort will be in order, I realize that all too well. I couldn't agree more. I believe the psychological aspect of the addiction, will be the hardest thing to deal with.

Nice! I really like the WWII carriers. -

Received as a gift from a forum Christmas raffle (different forum); 1:32 scale EduArt P-47D Thunderbolt. -
A few others too.

And yet another for the pile, this time on gems. At 440 pages, it's a very heavy book, but as is the case with most DK publications, rather inexpensive.

Thanks a bunch. I have cut back considerably (roughly 8 cigs per day vs an entire pack), but haven't managed to completely quit yet. I'm going to try, my friend, that's for sure. Thanks.

They also do at least one equivalent book on motorcycles. While I have no passion for motorcycles whatsoever, it is undoubtedly a great book for those that do.
