  1. Hey -- I got to meet Dan this weekend at our club meeting. He's a great guy and really cares about producing the best quality parts possible. I was really impressed. Big rig guys -- stay tuned... I got to see some awesome stuff he's working on. It's beautiful.
  2. Wow... you're putting us to shame !!! TWO trailers PLUS the tractor ??!?!? Holy cow. Simply amazing. And by the way -- it all looks super !
  3. Well.. spent the afternoon down at the bench. Mostly more clean-up on this "flash monster", so not much to show for 4 hours of work I'm afraid. Had the 1985 Valleydale Meats 500 race on to watch while I worked - so that was nice. Next weekend the frame is going to get glued to together so hopefully will have more to show then.
  4. The air cleaner is beautiful !! What did you paint it with and the pipe connecting to it ? Thanks!
  5. Holy cow. I gve up! Geeeez... we're not even a month in and it's almost done !! I've got part of an engine together so far. Nice job.
  6. Holy cow! Man!! Can you send the plastic elves over to my place ??? Looks super.
  7. I'm kinda liking the look of that Mercury sleeper on that vintage of truck.
  8. With a name like "Super Expert" how could you not want to use it ! It's not just "expert" - it's "super expert" ! :-)
  9. Me too!! Inquiring minds want to know
  10. Good idea... medium ? thick ? I thought about that... just haven't tried it before.
  11. Ha ha... that explains it. Unfortunately, my "job" doesn't go by a clock. But that's my problem ! Lookin' good !
  12. Holy cow... how you guys get so much done in such a short period of time... I'm always amazed. So... do you use the "Plastruct" instead of regular liquid model cement ? Is that the "secret weapon" for building so fast ? Looking good !
  13. Hey guys -- looking for some advice/help here. I've got some holes in the spring mounts that are in an area too small to get in and sand if I tried to putty them. What do you do with these ? Thanks !
  14. Thanks -- I wasn't aware of that. It kinda defeats the purpose of using acrylic paint if you have to first lay down an solvent-based primer.
  15. Beautiful !!! Where did you get the grille ? I know that isn't the one in the 352 kit. Thanks
  16. Nice.. what paint did you use on the fuel tanks ?? Thanks
  17. Is the Revell "Contacta" glue the same stuff as Model Master Liquid Cement for Plastic Models ?? Or is it different ? I see a lot of guys using it.
  18. Got some of the engine together this weekend, and got the frame rails and cross members cleaned up. Also got some chrome stripping done... seriously ? a chrome oil cooler ? chrome headers ? Had to really work on the cross members to get them "square" (they were actually "V" shaped). Luckily the ejector pin marks on the frame rails were easy to get to and clean up. I'm not crazy about the fact that there isn't a "positive alignment" with the cross members and the frame rails to make sure the frame is straight and square (i.e. bosses or pins). Anyway... "east bound and down, loaded up and truckin'" :-)
  19. What are you using for a primer under them? or are you spraying them on bare plastic? Thanks
  20. Re: "You need to prime though, MM won't stick to plastic on it's own worth beans" Amen! Even brushing MM Acryl -- works well if it's on a primered surface -- otherwise it don't bite. And when brushing MM Acryl you have to work FAST. It dries like lightening.
  21. Yeah I've got to get mine vented outside -- I don't have any basement windows, so I need to get someone in to cut another dryer vent-type hole in the side of the house. Unfortunately, the dryer is on the opposite side of the basement from my work area. Thanks
  22. I love it too. It was the very first big rig I ever built when I was a teenager (about 40 years ago). I search my parents' house every time I get back there to try and find it again but haven't had any luck. I built it straight out of the box -- no paint -- but I didn't care. It was just fun to build. This kit has a bad case of "chrome-itis". LOL. Will need to restock my Easy-Off oven cleaner. Of course it's been too long, but I don't remember the original release (same box art) having the Detroit 8V engine ? I just don't remember.
  23. What kind of airbrush are you using with the Createx ? needle ? air pressure ? I'm trying to switch to acrylics in the winter because my wife has had 3 sinus surgeries and cannot tolerate ANY whif of solvent based paints. Thanks
