  1. I can't find anything that I don't like about this truck. First, I really like the paint choice!! I like the spoke wheel choice as well!! I like the step choice and grab iron choice. I like the opening doors!! The weathering is awesome!!
  2. Thanks Mark! JC "olsbooks" reminded me of a major oversight on my part. It is possible that the driver hadn't loaded up for the trip yet, so the; suit case, thermos, cooler, water jug, and snacks, etc. might not be found in the truck yet, but there would surely be a few 8-tracks laying around. I have some great memories of riding in the 79 KW my dad drove listening to a Merle Haggard 8-track. I corrected the problem. There's Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash on the heater box. Dave Dudley will be in the player over head. Here's what I have so far: IMG_2712 by Brian Smith, on Flickr Thanks for the reminder. And by the way, I have a working 8-track player in my kitchen.
  3. 8-Tracks!! I can't believe that I forgot the 8-Tracks!!! I'm going to have to try to correct that oversight. This truck would have surely had an 8-Track player.
  4. Making some good progress. Looks good!
  5. Looking Great!! It looks like the real thing outside.
  6. Very nice work!! It turned out great!! The weathering is perfect!
  7. Looking good!! I like the colors!!! Great work!!
  8. Very nice looking rig!!! Great Work!!
  9. Thanks for all of the comments guys!! Thanks J.C. my next project (Highbinder) Will have a belt drive on the tag. It was actually in the plans before I started this one. As for this one, my goal was a 1980 era "Johnny Cash" truck (one piece at a time). An owner operator who is struggling, but picks up a part here and one there. With that theme, parts have been used from multiple kits, and you're right. I couldn't resist mix matching the spokes. Wait until you see the gold carpeting on the walls and ceiling. That is, if it turns out. Nothing says 1980 like some gold shag carpet. As you can tell by my phone, I'm stuck in the past. Thanks again everyone!!
  10. Thanks for all the comments guys!! I finished the interior bucket today. I left the back of the drivers seat hollow because it can't be seen once the bucket is in the cab. This is the bucket from the Back Yard Shed 7400 after I modified the dog box. IMG_2699(1) by Brian Smith, on Flickr IMG_2694 by Brian Smith, on Flickr IMG_2692 by Brian Smith, on Flickr
  11. Thanks Dan!! A little more accomplished today. It's starting to resemble a truck. IMG_2674 by Brian Smith, on Flickr IMG_2678 by Brian Smith, on Flickr
  12. So far I've not had any real luck finding enough info on the Giesel to replicate it, like distributor location, intake style, etc..Here is my second choice. Does anyone have any good info (Photos, Dimensions, etc.) on the 250hp 400C.I.D. White straight six gas burner? I believe that it began life as a Reo engine before White took them over. It's not the flat head six. I'm planning a future project; a 9000 White gas burner. There was an issue of Overdrive Magazine in 1970 that had a 69 White 9000 with one of these, but of course the hood was closed. Thanks in advance for any help.
  13. I had the same idea, but my brother is a school bus mechanic and he said that they were very different. I don't know for sure. He may would take some reference pictures though.
  14. Thanks for all of the comments guys!! I actually opened some glue today after what seems like forever. This was meant to be an easy project to get ready for the Highbinder, but it seems to have taken a turn. This one will not have quite as much detail as my last build. I would like to finish more than one build this year. Here's what I've gotten so far. IMG_2663 by Brian Smith, on Flickr IMG_2662 by Brian Smith, on Flickr
  15. Class!! Right off the the back cover of Overdrive Magazine. Great work!!
  16. Not only the bigger trucks, but I've seen two of these v-6's in pickups. Both of the ones that I've seen were in 68 GMC's. This would definitely be a cool option, but if you're building vintage, especially a pickup bed 1/2 ton gas station wrecker, I personally would go with the straight six.
  17. Looking great!! Great work on the bumper too!! Can't go wrong with a cabover KW!!
