  1. Looking good Sean, but I think that you may be right about the tanks. This is supposed to be the main truck from the movie as it looks today This is supposed to be the restored short tank truck from the movie. It does look like that the tanks are not below the air tanks on both, but it also looks like either the tanks sit a little higher, or the battery box may sit a little lower. Regardless of a slight difference in the tanks, when you finish this one, I'm sure it will be a convincing Rubber Duck.
  2. Very nice build so far! Excellent subject choice!!
  3. For Sure!! Thanks Clayton!! This has inspired a lot of cool builds!!
  4. Looking very nice indeed!! I too like those tanks!
  5. Looking Good!!! Looks like some cool projects in the background as well.
  6. Very Cool Build! I like it very much!!! Is that a 300 Farmall in the background?
  7. Wow! It looks just like the real thing!!
  8. Thanks for the comments guys! Kevin: The Joe Mustang truck was one of the inspirations for this build. That truck had a 264" wheelbase, and I think that mine is going to be around a 275" wheelbase.
  9. This truck build off has been a great thing! We are getting to see some excellent projects coming together, and this is one of them. This has always been one of my favorite trucks, and you are doing an excellent job with this one. Great work!!!
  10. Just had a great trade with "Modlbldr". Would recommend and would trade again.
  11. It's kind of crude mock up, but you can get the idea of how its going to look.
  12. Sam: Thanks! The frame rails are made by GW Trucks. I picked them up from Sourkraut's. Terry: Thanks! I hope it turn out well.
  13. Gator: Thanks for the encouragement! I didn't think that I wanted to cut up a resin kit either, but here I am. Sean: The cases come from Hobby Lobby. With a 40% coupon, they are less than $15.00. The rotary phone is still functional, but doesn't work on the new phone service that AT&T installed last year.
  14. All right Terry and Sam, I'm opening the doors on this one. You can also see the frame length here as well. I'm also trying my hand at casting some new cross members. Time will tell how that experiment will go. I've never cast anything before. Thanks to everyone who has commented!!!
  15. Wow! This is really cool! Great work!!
  16. Nice build! I really like the color!
  17. Very nice build! I like it!!!
  18. Dave, does that website still work? I haven't been able to get it to come up lately. The restored truck that they have is supposed to be the original short fuel tank truck if I'm not mistaken.
  19. I was looking for the old Ertl rear air ride suspension like comes in the early IH kits. I had one that I haven't seen in a long time, I remembered it being complete. So much for my memory. I need to choose the suspension for my Mack before I can arrange cross member placement. I have even looked into Auslowe's Neway suspension, but I think that I would rather us the old IH style if I can get a hold of one.
  20. Thanks Terry! That truck was one of the inspirations for my build. I'm still kind of curious as to how that air clutch worked. You can see the cylinder that actuates the clutch in one of the pictures. I'm sure it took some getting used to. By the way: Does anyone have a complete Ertl air ride? I dug mine out of the parts box today, confident that it was complete, and it is not even close to complete. So much for my memory?!? I have the old style aftermarket spring air combo from the Peterbilt if all else fails.
  21. I may have a junker dash Sean, but not sure, I'll look when I get home. You and I have very similar taste. I've always wanted to build one of these. You made a good call on the tanks. There were a few trucks used in the movie. If you look at the seen where the Rubber Duck backs out of the jail building, you will see the truck with the short tanks, but as far as I know that is the only scene that you can see this. Great project! Are you building a trailer too?
