  1. Dave, does that website still work? I haven't been able to get it to come up lately. The restored truck that they have is supposed to be the original short fuel tank truck if I'm not mistaken.
  2. I was looking for the old Ertl rear air ride suspension like comes in the early IH kits. I had one that I haven't seen in a long time, I remembered it being complete. So much for my memory. I need to choose the suspension for my Mack before I can arrange cross member placement. I have even looked into Auslowe's Neway suspension, but I think that I would rather us the old IH style if I can get a hold of one.
  3. Thanks Terry! That truck was one of the inspirations for my build. I'm still kind of curious as to how that air clutch worked. You can see the cylinder that actuates the clutch in one of the pictures. I'm sure it took some getting used to. By the way: Does anyone have a complete Ertl air ride? I dug mine out of the parts box today, confident that it was complete, and it is not even close to complete. So much for my memory?!? I have the old style aftermarket spring air combo from the Peterbilt if all else fails.
  4. I may have a junker dash Sean, but not sure, I'll look when I get home. You and I have very similar taste. I've always wanted to build one of these. You made a good call on the tanks. There were a few trucks used in the movie. If you look at the seen where the Rubber Duck backs out of the jail building, you will see the truck with the short tanks, but as far as I know that is the only scene that you can see this. Great project! Are you building a trailer too?
  5. Thanks Leo! I knew that this set up favored the Neway air ride. I am hoping to find some 1:1 reference pictures before I install which ever system I decide to go with that is why I was wanting to know if it was available on any other trucks. The Mack that I'm building will be far from factory specs, so that really wasn't an issue. I was wondering more about the set up itself, as it seems one axle is U-bolted solid, while the other seems to mount similar to a walker beam set up. I was hoping just to U-bolt them both solid, like most air rides that I've seen. Thanks for the help! I may have to as Sean says: "use some creative licence."
  6. Does anyone have any info on the air ride set up that is found in the early Ertl truck kits like the 4270 kit, the 4070A kit, and the early 4070B kit? Was this made by IH? What years was it available? Does any one have any reference pictures? I am trying to choose which air ride system to put on my H-63 Mack. Thanks ahead of time....Brian
  7. Very nice! I like the colors!!!
  8. This thing is Awesome! The paint scheme is perfect! I really like this one! You can't go wrong with a KW!
  9. Gino, You just have a way with hoods!
  10. Not sure where I got this picture, but it is a RL686, it looks just like the one we had, the other had black interior like the Rubber Duck. I think 700's follow suit. Hope this helps.
  11. Sean, the company that used to work for didn't have any 700L's but they had two 600L's. Both were late 70's early 80's. From what I remember the interior on both were very similar to the rest of the R-Models that the company had. One was a sleeper truck and had a little nicer interior closer to that of the Superliner. I remember that the frames were a little different, and the steering boxes mounted a little differently. The headlight buckets looked slightly narrower (though I never measured them). The engines were all grey like Mack oil filters, but many of those had been rebuilt, so who knows what they were originally.
  12. A.I.T.M has cast metal ones. I have also had pretty good success cutting them off of the pogo stick in the AMT kits (Road Boss, Diamond Reo, Western Star, etc.).
  13. 2 excellent builds!! I really like them both!! Great job on the weathering!
  14. Very nice work! This is one of my favorite builds, simply because of the subject matter. I like the narrow hoods, and you're off to a fantastic start!
  15. Cool project! I've always wanted to try to build one of those.
  16. I really like this one! The chains on the tank are a really nice touch.
  17. Great looking rig! I too like the orange but was curious to the story behind it. I thought maybe it was a sports team color that you favored or maybe you were an Allis Chalmers man. Excellent Work!!
  18. Thanks; Jeff, Oscar and Stephen, and thanks again Joe!
  19. Wow! I had to look a second time, because I thought that I was looking at the real thing! Excellent Work!!
  20. Makes me want to sing: "I'm Lookin at the World Through a Windshield." I wish that I could capture that vintage look the way that you do. Excellent build!!
  21. You're doing a great job! I like all the trucks with this cab and enjoy building them, but they always require a little tweaking. This one is going to be good!!
  22. This is one awesome looking truck! You are doing an excellent job!!
