I for one like the 1693 idea. There is one used everyday here in town that has the Mack V-8 still running strong. The construction company that I worked for back in the early 90s had a Superliner with the inline 6 cylinder Mack engine. The thing that you need to remember that this is your build, and unless you are modeling an exact replica of a particular subject, you have some freedom of choice. If I'm not mistaken, the Superliner came out in the last days of the 1693 around 1980. A glider could have been bought in 1980 (or so) and a used 1693 went back to work in its new rolling chassis (among other possibilities). Something you might consider is putting round headlight bulbs in the headlight frames to back date it some closer to the 1693 era, but again the choice is yours. Regardless, around here things get swapped around all the time. I pulled a 72 Ford pickup into the shop one day and raised the hood to find a 360 Dodge engine (???). The point is that there is no wrong choice. You are doing awesome work by the way!

I worked in an old shop for over 20 years. The black on the walls and doors is perfect! This is as realistic as it gets. Excellent Work!!! The car is great too!!

Not sure? I assume that he is like the rest of us and that regular daily life gets in the way of his part time hobby. Some of those suppliers are not casting anymore either, or have changed hands. I'm sure that there was a lot of overhead involved if he ever had everything on his site in stock at one time too. I have ordered from his stock more than once recently and received my order quickly. There are still some good items available. It is a good reference site though to see what has been available and may still be somewhere.

I think Illini Replicas is still selling as well.

Many of the parts on the original trucks were stamped: "made in Japan". They were considered White's cheaper alternative to the Freightliner.

I just like Vegas. We had one when I was a kid back in the late 70s until the Timing Belt broke. It was sold and went through a transformation much like this one. Old Vegas become someone else's new Drag Cars. Great Work on this one!!!

There is one of these 7400 cabs (Japanese Freightliner) on Ebay now for $47.50 Buy-It-Now. The picture is not the best. Considering that I paid over $100 for the Sourkraut version of the 7400, that is not bad.

Not sure, I've never gotten one. I just saw last night that they have a Powerliner cab on Ebay. It was auction style and not buy-it-now. Maybe they're going to be casting it again as well? They have been having a Diamond T cab, International Conoco, and International R on Ebay from time to time as well, along with their 6-71, and parts from other vendors. They are usually closed on Monday,Tuesday, and sometimes other weekdays as well. I think that they are like many of us and have other priorities. I usually just call until I get an answer. I have found that if I'm looking for something to just ask, they may have it. They have always been great to deal with.
