  1. This is a model of a truck where my dad used to work; “Piedmont Asphalt Paving Company.” This project began with the AMT Ford Snowplow kit. The long hood came from Gary Wallace. The grille and emblems are from Detail Master. Although the Detail Master Mack kit was excellent, this one for the Ford was a bit lacking. The emblems were too large, and there was only one. I went ahead and used them. The 6-71 Detroit is from Jamie at moluminum. The wheels are from an Ertl kit. Thanks to Charles Rowley for the decals!
  2. Thanks Gator! I think that I have this one done. I hope to get some outside pictures tomorrow.
  3. Thanks Charles. There were probably more coats on the hood, but the hood is lighter. Thanks! Jamie at moluminum model truck parts.
  4. Thanks for the comments guys! It is starting to look like a truck. I can’t figure out why the hood is a shade different than the cab. They both had the same primer, same base coat of white and the same paint all from the same cans. These trucks were pretty beat up anyway, so I am going with it.
  5. WOW! That looks Amazing!!! Excellent scratch building as always! Beautiful build!!!
  6. I like that!! Looks awesome in red!! I’m putting plans together to start my wrecker when I finish my Ford dump. I’m will be a long hood 4300 IH.

  12. This is sort of another truck from my past. My daddy worked for this paving company for years. My mom’s stepdad also worked for the company driving a dump truck similar to the one that I am building. The hood is from Gary Wallace. The engine is a 6-71 from Jamie. The tanks are from Auslowe. The wheels are Ertl.
  13. Your weathering looks Amazing! Nice build!
  14. Thanks Chuck!! Thanks Lucas!! Thanks Mark!! I don't know much about how these trucks were staged. My friend who was a CF driver is no longer with us. I do know that they would push anyone's truck up the mountain to keep the road clear for their own trucks. I also know that Donner Pass would be closed if driving conditions were too dangerous. I also was curious as to why these trucks weren't built from a tandem drive truck as they had a few. I have seen pictures of at least 3 CF versions of these trucks, a Roadway version, a Con Way version (possibly repainted CF truck), and some more modern Caltrans versions.
  15. Excellent weathering! Your figures are very convincing as well!! Excellent work!!
