  1. Excellent scratch building! Looks great! The decals really set it off!
  2. This is another actual truck from my past. It is going to be a model of a truck that I knocked down a wash shed with. That’s right, I could of been on bonehead truckers. This was many years ago, but I will tell the story when this one makes it to the Under Glass section. This was about an 85 model with a twin stick 6 speed. This model will only be a close representation, as I won’t be making the cab air ride, and I am building only from memory. So far, I have shortened the wheelbase. Added 2 hole Budds and resin rubber tires. A wet line kit is being added. Model Car Garage grill will be on this one. I think that the tanks were from A.I.T.M.. The cab and hood are sitting on the frame for mock up.
  3. This is really an amazing transformation!!
  4. Excellent work! Looks great!!
  5. Great minds must think alike!? I just started an R-Model as well. It is not near as complex as yours will be though. Nice start on what I am sure will be a great project!
  6. Excellent work Ken!
  7. I had forgotten about this thread. Great looking fleet Dan! I will add the last Dodge that I built as well.
  8. Great looking build! I really like what you have done with the bed from this kit! I may have to borrow some of your ideas in the future. Excellent work!
  9. Excellent work on these! Looks great! I like the wheel upgrade on the Western Star. The hoods don’t fit great on the 1:1 Road Bosses either. They advertised the hood as having limited contact points to the cab to cut down on vibration. A great way to market hoods that don’t fit too well.?
  10. Great looking Mack! Excellent work!
  11. Wow! And I thought that the Peterbilt looked amazing! This thing is incredible. The cab work is excellent!! Your body work looks perfect! I really like the paint scheme! The undercab insulation is a nice touch! This is one of the best looking Freightliners that I have seen! Excellent work!
  12. Man that is one beautiful rig! I like your a/c unit! I like your modifications to the Cat as well. I have one of those coolers that think that I am going to put on a B motor. Your paint scheme looks amazing. The grill and the work around the headlights go along way in making this one look real. Excellent work all around.
  13. I agree 100% He said that he was riding the brakes continuously to hold the car back because it wouldn’t idle down. That is why they were smelling them. He overheated the brakes and lost pedal. All of the brake inspections in the world and most upgrades wouldn’t have helped in this instance. That is why I like a good old fashioned cable operated emergency brake. Fixing the sticky throttle however would have went a long way.
  14. X2 These were commonly used. Like has been said already, unless you are building a factory fresh build, you can use what ever engine you would like. The 3406 in the snap kits are not “B” motors. There is a little difference in the pump, front cover and the compressor mounting on the 3406B, but Gary Wallace offers the “B” motor as well. Paystars often used 3208 Cats as well, but I am not sure how late those were used.
  15. Thanks for bringing this one back from the dead! Thanks for the comments! Thanks!! Thanks Dan!! I don’t have much room for trailers right now, so I haven’t built one.
  16. Very nice looking Superliner!! I like your engine choice, although you would need a lot of butter to squeeze one of those into a 1:1 Superliner. Excellent work!!
  17. I like what you have come up with here! Very nice work!! As far as the green engine, it could have been a replacement or a rebuild somewhere along the way.
  18. I worked on a lot of the 70s models and even owned a few. Most 78-79 models that I had experience with had 205 transfer cases. The earlier models with full time four wheel drive had 203 transfer cases. I had a 76 with a divorced transfer case and it was a 205 as well. That has just been my experience, I’m sure there are probably other examples. Something else that may be of interest. Most fords had a Dana 44 with a high mount pinion in the front with reverse cut gears. The one I had with the divorced transfer case had a Dana 44 with a regular low mount pinion.
  19. Thanks, he has already got back in touch with me.
