  1. Ouch is right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think I'd pay that much just to look at the box, I'd have to build it.
  2. WOW John, I thought I'd seen them all but the second Triumph drag bike is new to me.
  3. Just got the issue in my hot little hands today. This is the coolest thing that has happened to me in a long time. Never in my wildest dreams did I think my work was good enough to be in a magazine. I want to personally & publicly thank Harry P. He did all the hard work making the two pages look so good. I also want to thank all of you for allowing me to be here and putting up with my #### !
  4. This one will be just a clean up and rebuild but I've cast some of the one off parts and have plans for a twin Knuck TF and maybe some others.
  5. Thanks for the compliment Terry. Yes, I have the tanks and fender. They need some serious clean up as they were brush painted many odd years ago. As I said the plastic is very brittle so I'm taking my time and being very gentle. Here's a pic of how I got the bike.
  6. Looks like your skills have definately improved Lars, top shelf work so far.
  7. I got a 60's issue Revell drag bike in a recent trade and hope to restore it. First step was disassembly. The glue was so old it almost fell apart. Had to use dis-solve on some of it though. As I've found with models this old the plastic is very brittle and the frame literally came apart at the joints. After a few touchy moments and very delicate handling I got it back togther and put a coat of primer on it. I'm afraid the front end is toast. It's pretty badly broken up. I'll try to repair it but don't have much hope. Got some parts in the purple pond dechroming and will see what I have left soon. I'm missing a few small parts but should be able to dig them out of the parts box or another kit. Well the frame broke three more times while I tried to clean it up so I quit ####### with it and primed and painted it. Need to wait for a less muggy day to clear it. I've been working on the engine all day and had some success. Not quite top shelf but I'm happy with it. Stay tuned, more to come. .
  8. Next time you look in your rear view mirror and can't see anything but a big grill, try flipping him off then.
  9. After all that ya GOTTA chop it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .
  10. Thanks for the compliment Sam, and no it won't have a trailer, just a tow bar. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry201444 .
  11. I built this for a dio but since it's Under Glass thought I'd put it here too. Since it will be in a dio and basically a curbside I didn't install an engine or detail the chassis. I found the glass in this kit ill fitting and a pain to install. If you look closely at the rear window you can see my screw up. Heres some eye candy. Just for giggles I opened the wing windows.
  12. Thought I had the interiors finished this AM. Pics show everything and I realised the arm rests in the pickup need to be painted. Also forgot the roll bar in the Nomad. I sanded down all the interior panel detail in the Nomad and painted it dull aluminum to simulate aluminum panels. I bought a piece of plywood for the base yesterday but am having second thoughts on a pit scene. Considering a front gate scene or something with a little more detail. I got the pickup finished. Since it will be in a dio and basically a curbside I didn't install an engine or detail the chassis. I found the glass in this kit ill fitting and a pain to install. If you look closely at the rear window you can see my screw up. Heres some eye candy. Just for giggles I opened the wing windows.
  13. Here I go again. Wait till the paint is COMPLETELY gassed out and pour on Pledge Future floor wax. I set the body on an upright brick in a pie plate and just pour the liquid over it. Then use a Q tip to collect the drips. You can pour the liquid back in the bottle too for reuse. It gives a deep shine and won't show finger prints. Again, it works for me.
  14. I'm no expert, and probably the worst painter on this board but I know what works for me. All the builds below were painted right from a plasti-kote can.
  15. Plasti-kote Lacquers. Big can, small price. I love it !!!!!!!!! Can be found in most auto parts stores and large discount stores. (Wal Mart, K Mart, etc)
  16. I reroofed my shop about 8 years ago and had two partial rolls left over. I've got enough to keep me in 1/8 hose clamps for quite a few years to come. heh heh heh
  17. I usually make them out of aluminum flashing strips and 00-90 bolts Harry. Just got lazy on this build.
  18. I used regular old Elmers white glue and it took three blankets.
  19. We are having a Tri Five Challenge at my model club so I thought a small dio would be cool to do. I started with AMT's 55 Chevy step side pickup and 55 Nomad wagon. Both will be OOB with a few small alterations. The Nomad has a gasser drag option and I'll scratch a tow bar for the pickup. The dio will be a pit scene. I've got till November to finish it so I started on the vehicles first.
  20. Sure am, but a plate of aluminum big enough to cut the rails out of is expensive and I only want to do it once. Thats why I made the template out of a $7.00 plastic cutting board. heh heh heh.
  21. Cool Little Mule, I like what you did to it.
  22. Front, yes. Rear are custom resin.
  23. I've been playing around with a couple of ideas recently and came up with this ... The body was a trashed pour that I salvaged by chopping, sectioning and removing the center of the roof. Lots of bondo later and it's serviceable. I cut the frame out of a quarter inch thick plastic kitchen cutting board but will replace it with aluminum when I can afford the plate. Rear suspension from a Deuce and front from a Lindy T. Wood in roof and bed is balsa. I'm getting reference togther to scratch a Packard straight 8 but also have some resin Ardun heads for a flattie coming. Kind of a toss up right now. It's will be on hold waiting for money for aluminum plus I've got a 1/25 club challenge to build for my model club. Heres some more pics. http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage...illbillyhauler/
