Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my latest project while I'm waiting for decent weather so I can paint it. 1/8 scale resin Topolino body and Chevy 409 engine with highly modified Exterminator frame. Still have a few odds and ends to finish along with paint. Complete build pics here. http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage...s/little-mouse/

1956 Studebaker President Classic, 1/10th scale.
old-hermit replied to Mark Crowel's topic in Model Cars
Definately different but as said before pretty cool. Plus if you can do that with paper I wonder what you can do in plastic. -
In less than 15 minutes on Google I found everything you need for less than $18000.00. https://www.nextengine.com/indexSecure.htm http://www10.aeccafe.com/nbc/articles/view...rticleid=645150 As fast as technology developes these days by the time you save enough money for your machine shop you could have enough to buy this instead. You could also buy just the scanner and contract out the printing. .

Big Drag...what exactly do I have here?
old-hermit replied to jbwelda's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm no expert but you don't have a "Big Drag". The front axle, spring, shocks and wheels apear to be from the Lindberg "Exterminator Dragster". The front tires are from the R/M Street T or Golden T. Both identical except the gold plate instead of chrome. R/M produced several versions of the T, each different in several ways. The engine appears to be an R/M SBC with the blower from Lindy's dragster (moon tank also). The interior could be from a parts pack. The rest looks streight from a Big T kit. That's about all I can help you with but there are several large scale "experts" out there that should be able to tell you more. Here is a link to pictures of box art and year / color info that might help. http://www.largescalemodeler.com/eighth/models/boxart.html Please do consider it, I'd like to know a little more history too. -

old-hermit replied to Mack Man's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
STOP !!!!!!!! Step away from the model, then go buy four or five more kits and build them all at the same time. -

Everybodys seen the Silhouette so heres the futurista. -
I'm considering doing a full wood ceiling and leather roof just like a real one but haven't got the nerve up to tackle it yet. I got the trash can from Waste Management's R&B landfill in Homer Ga. They have a bunch of promo stuff.

Started this on Christmas vacation. Rolling chassis is from a 1/8th scale Big T kit. The wooden body and a lot of the V-12 are scratch built. Still a lot to do.

What do you love about model building?
old-hermit replied to Clay's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not just one part Clay. I love it from idea conseption to the finished piece. I guess the mental process of creating the finished build in my head before the first piece is touched. -
Thanks Andy, now I know everything. heh heh heh.

Sharp looking Pete. I like the bmf around the top and across the sides. -
Heh heh heh, there are ways to curse without setting off the maternal fornicating censor, but Gregg will probably not like it.

Three Stooges going back to D.C.
old-hermit replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ya know, I've tried to keep up with this thread but it's getting to be nothing but who to blame and who did what and why don't they do this and so on and so forth. Face it guys, Congress bailed out Wall Street because every representative in Washington is a millionaire and their portfolios were crashing as fast as the stock market. They are dragging their feet on the "big three" bail out because the "big three's" stock is already at rock bottom and the millionaires aren't going to lose any more money if the auto companies do fail. It all comes down to the bottom dollar on the tally sheet. My two cent's. -

Whoa now Harry, all the Pinto's didn't explode. Here's my daily driver. 257,000 miles, never had the heads off and doesn't use oil.
