SOAPY SALES FC / OOB - I'm Almost Back - 6/17/16
Nytrozilla replied to Nytrozilla's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I think I have an answer to our dilemma. At least, it's my best guess. I bought the MK kit a while back as an "Open Box" from a show vendor. I checked the box for total parts. It had the decal sheet, but no instructions. Is it possible that parts from a different version were swapped out? What came in the box certainly doesn't match the side box chassis pics. I kept the box for parts storage. What I built doesn't match the art. Question now is, what the heck did I build? Also, I owe you and MK an apology -

That's right boys. It's got a HEMI, Big Tires and Header Flames (Hopefully). The flames work in my head for the time being. That's why I haven't drilled out the headers yet. There's actually 2 ways of doing them and both mods stay within Box Stock contest rules. Only using materials that came in the box. And don't think that I didn't consider stretched sprue plug wires. Here's the box art and the front end differences. On a silly note, even the body props are different. -

Hey folks. Wiped out my back a couple of days ago. Thanks for keeping up. Bill, I respect your knowledge, especially in light of the fact that I don't follow reissue facts. However, I remember the frustrations of correcting fit, terrible seam mismatches on the frame and body, not to mention crater sized ejection marks on the Model King version. Even if all of those issues were fixed, why does the MK chassis have front coil over shocks and the one I'm doing now, doesn't? I see they share similar parts, but even the engine setback is different, as is the cockpit tin. If they made all of these changes before the reissue, I applaud them. And you for knowing the difference. -

It doesn't look a day over 3 years old to me. -

Bill, those 2 top shelves have some of my favorite Funnies. Looks like an OCIR Manufacturer's Meet line up. -

I got lucky and picked up this bad boy for 60 bucks at a local thrift store. This was about 40 shelves ago. But, then again, I'm really, really old, so.......... -
How About Some Stalled Projects?

I like to keep my unfinished stuff on display, so they are a constant reminder to get my act together and finish what I'm working on now, so I can get back to them. Does that make sense? I do have two on my build desks, but one is in progress. The Batmobile Tumbler gets camo paint. It stalled in the middle of masking. The ones on display are: Charlie Allen F/C with Deora hauler. Needs paint, decalage, assembly, details, etc. Next is the QuarterMaster 4 engine Daytona. Needs nose hinge, 4 blower hats with linkage, paint and decals. Finally, what started as a 1/16 Hawaiian will be Don Schumacher's Wonder Wagon. I wiped out 2 Charger bodies after clear coats fish eyed around the decal edges. In other words, all four have paint issues. I'm starting to sense a pattern here...... -
Has anybody seen my casting supplies?

At first, I was thinking you may have been abducted by space aliens from another dimension. That's when it hit me. With skills like that, you must be an alien. Your government could sure use your help reverse engineering some UFO's they've been stockpiling.........

Thanx Brother Art. I'm sooooo glad that this reissue was NOT the atrocious generic Challenger F/C from Model King. I've bought 4 more since starting this project. Thank you Darrell. That should happen in the next day or so. I'm anxious too. -

Of course I like it all, but the nozzle is incredible Bro. I like it when you update, but I love it when you do it with style !! -
I, uh, well, it's, wow, there's, REALLY, how, because, OH WAIT!!! I've got it. No, sorry, that's not a word. More of a sound I can't replicate here anyway. Will you settle for an "Atta Boy Tim!!!" ??? I hope so, 'cuz otherwise, I'm lost.

And I applaud Brad's applause, but only because I enjoy being totally overwhelmed with your ability to envision how to get to where you need to be. What comes out of your ears when you're thinking this stuff up? Smoke or Steam?

Thanks a ton Michael. Good to see you again man. Yeah, after 45 years manual labor gets really, really old. Here's the last mock up before body paint. It looks nekkid without the headers. Actually, it looks naked without wires and plumbing. I'll have to cut away the windshields from each other and get them shaped and tested on the body before I start masking. I have to admit, the thought crossed my mind to leave the body black and badly hand letter "This Space 4 Rent" on the doors. But no. Just a wandering brain wave out of control. -
That's what happens when you get back on that horsie and yank on the reins as hard as you can. Couldn't find your "penny", huh? Guess you'll just have to carve up another manhole cover, then whip out the copper paint.

Thanx Guys. I appreciate you looking in. Got a bunch of assembly done today. I might have to start paint on the body to keep up with myself. This is going much better than I had hoped. Guess I need to buy a few more....... Enjoy the pics. -

Alrighty then. All recovered from the Best of the West show. Oh, my aching back and legs and feet and other assorted old guy stuff. Got the engine asembled today, so I thought I'd celebrate with a mock up. Enjoy. -

I'm especially impressed with the grain looking correct as opposed to "out of scale". Good ice cream sticks are hard to find -
I never tire of seeing these amazing creations Tim. Always keeps me wanting more. Happy Mother's Day to the Mrs.

Hi Vince. Thanks for chiming in. Well Kiddies, the Dragula took 2nd place in Comp Straight Line / Open Wheel. I was thrilled to be surrounded by quality builds and I got to hook up with Paul Mendoza (mr68gts). Also met Gregg, as he was manning the MCM photo booth. Hey Harry, when I invoked your name, Gregg told me you were 10 feet tall. Is that true or is it just his opinion of you as a person and moderator?
