  1. I'm going to go with the blown HEMI. I'll give you 3 excellent reasons to choose this set up. 1 - IT'S BLOWN !!!! 2 - IT'S A HEMI !!!!!! 3 - It looks turn key, ready to fire (if it already hasn't been), which allows for faster completion. You're Welcome
  2. For me it hasn't been fatigue. It's more like I'm coming out of hibernation. I get my daily doses of the Tim & Dave Show whenever I can.
  3. Thanx guys. Here's some progress from yesterday. I got the door panels done and started on the dash, seats shocks and the tanks, which are half done. A couple of changes from canon. I decided to go camo on the motor and rear axle as well, so those parts got hit with Light Earth. Pretty dark color for something named "light". It also occurred to me, that if this bad boy was originally designed for field work, would it have shiny exposed aluminum on the rear wheels? I think not. So they get a camo look too. More to come, I'm headed to the desk as I write this.
  4. Last year, GSL was a bucket list item for me as well. Now it will be a tradition. Every wonderful thing that happens there is a well choreographed play. Mark Gustavson and crew are the most dedicated modelers I've ever met. Follow everyone's advice for saving money. You'll need it for the vendor room. The seminars are not to be missed. Even if a topic is not your cup of tea, you'll still learn and have fun doing it. Plus it's funny when they forget to plug stuff in. I run low odds to place in the competition, but I love showing my builds to interested bystanders. Finally, I don't know if anybody else mentioned it, but if you enter something that has a serious shot at placing, provide a build book. There were dozens there. However, only the judges know if a build book made a difference.
  5. Derrick, I started a topic in All The Rest tonite, just for you.
  6. I rarely build for anyone other than myself. In this case however, this will become a gift for the son of some special friends. YES (to everybody who knows me) I DO HAVE FRIENDS. This is also one of the rare occasions where I will actually be following the instructions. YES (to everybody who knows me) I CAN READ. This build, like all others, started with clean up of miscellaneous lines, mold marks, flash, of which there was very little of each. Thanx Moebius. Next, it's off to the bath for degreasing. YES (to everybody who knows me) I USED REAL SOAP. That brings us to present day where, after major parts paint in silver, gold and ModelMaster 1963 Desert Sand, detailing has begun. The darker camo effects will be 1954 Light Earth. I've shot a piece of decal paper, which will have the patterns cut out and applied. Note to self, restock decal set. My main focus is the cockpit for now. YES (to everybody who knows me) I CAN FOCUS. Thanx for looking.
  7. Glorp, schmegel, wussuh, melbun........ Use your words Zilla
  8. In case you missed it, I know you're 100% focused on your work, I made the same exact comment on Dave's build. I just swapped the names.
  9. Tim, the only diff between your shop and a chassis shop is, one you do on the floor, the other on a table top. Everyone knows the adage that all Ginger Rogers had to do was everything that Fred Astaire did, only backwards, wearing heels. Same thing. You doing the same thing a shop does, only smaller and with fewer tools. Now I've gone and done it. If I don't go say something funny on Dave's build, I'm sure I'll hear about it.

  11. I thought the same exact thing Chris.
  12. Wow Ira !!! This is already looking...........(Chris taps Zilla on the shoulder and whispers in his ear). "Are you sure? Teresi? Really? Did you see the radical changes?" ( Chris reminds Zilla of the previous customs by Sir Teresi of SoCali. ) JOHN!!!!!!!! Wowza Brutha Man! CAUTION!! Flying razor saw debris field. Nice
  13. I've used the Gooche decals before and I have nothing but success. This is a phantom Flying Dutchman Charger and I have another set waiting for the 67/68 Stardust Charger. Good Stuff. Lui, that build has the "Gotcha" factor going on and I second the motion for chassis pics.
  14. That's a rockin' ride Richard. Don't know how I missed it, but I'm tuned in now. I'll start at the beginning right after a nap..............
  15. Brother, you could make a Rolls Royce look like a VW. I'm not sweating it.
  16. NOW it looks right. The missing numbers was all it took for me. Love it man.
  17. Chute me. Chute me now. I can't tell the diff between that and a full scale chute Chris. Well done sir.
  18. I count 76 parts so far. I've started a Tumbler which has over 100. A lot of those are struts and shocks and such.
  19. I'm available for adoption. If you don't mind moving to Vegas.
  20. I've decided to wait until everything else is done so that will be the last thing I do so I don't knock it off again. I had a similar experience on a fire extinguisher. The brackets were painted and after installation, I rubbed them off twice before I decided to cover them in foil as the last step on the build. Sorry you couldn't find bigger slicks. I checked my stash to no avail. I think they look great. Love pie crusts. Ummmmm, pie......... The total build is a thing of beautyusness. I should have enough memory on my phone to take 30 or 50 pics of it. See ya' then Bro.
  21. Hey Dan, I'll see your 24" and raise you 32". But then again, I'm old and need big pictures and loud words for it to sink in.
  22. My Brothers!!!!! Chris, that is one sweet cover. John, I will see this in person at the DSC. I miss you both.
