  1. This board is being overrun with Gassers and Altereds. When will this madness end? Not soon I hope. I always wanted to detail out a 1/32 Funny Car. Good thing somebody with skills beat me to it I got a visual of you working on the wire looms. Has the headache gone away yet?
  2. Bright idea using yellow ribbon for chute pack material. After I cut a test piece to soak in a diluted solution of Elmer's glue, they stole the roll to camouflage themselves and I can't find them anywhere. Yes Ricky, I went overboard on your suggestion. That's kinda' what I do..... Actually, I thought giving the whole deal the treatment would guarantee a uniform color plus imbue a starched firmness I was wanting. While that dries, I drilled mounting holes into the backing plate. Now, the three pieces of plastic are as follows: The chute mount on the plate, then the other two are for the open and closed packs. The pieces were originally a set of heads from an unknown engine. To get an idea of why I wanted big chute packs, I lIke the beefy look of the red one in the second pic. It's from the Tommy Ivo Showboat. To complete today's progress, I started on the springs that push out the laundry. Next I'll start slicing up strips of ribbon. Keep your fingers crossed.
  3. That's a great idea Ricky. I'll try that. BTW, I have a GrandBrat by that name. Brad, if the metal looks familiar, there's a reason for that I'm thinking that NOW would be a great time to make a PB&J with Ruffles potato chips, then hit the hobby room and verbally abuse some Minions.
  4. *****Batman Voice Inflection***** Hey you two!!! Thanks for stopping in It is my sincere wish that all of my MCM Forum Bro's and Bud's had a Wonderful Holiday. I spent 3 days going to different friends and my niece's home. Now that I can breathe again, (too much eggnog), I hope to start on the chutes today. I picked up yellow construction paper and yellow ribbon to experiment with. My hope is that the ribbon doesn't fray when It's cut. Keep your fingers crossed. I'll shoot for a late day update.
  5. Thanks a lot guys. Lots of pre-Xmas stuff going on, but I managed to get something done to give a grin or two. Starting with the parachute backing plate. Not yet pictured are the mounting brackets in metal. I may try a simple clip mount. Why a clip? The chute packs need to be removable. I'll be making open and closed packs with deployed chutes too!!!!!! I took a sitting driver figure and chopped the living daylights out of him so he could stand in, or next to, the car. I think l'll call him Bruce. The Bat Ears on the helmet will be blended along with the rest of the seams. The gloves will get mini-wings too. Still more to do on the front window inner frame. The bottom is in place with final fit and glue to come. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays Y'all!!!!!!
  6. I found it John! And man, I'm glad I did. Hope you're able to post more later. I'll be checking in. I love Holiday Hot Rods
  7. Uh-Oh. Looks like Brother John is picking up my bad habits. Mr. Machine. Nyce. Wish I'd thought of it.......
  8. I was going to comment earlier, but with such rapid fire progress, I didn't want to break your stride. Do decals adhere well to aluminum? Is a shot of clear or a swab of Future a good idea? Maybe even hit a test part with Future, then lay the decal on while it's still wet? We had a similar debate about Chris' rivets on the Vega's tins. You know what's best my friend. Keep up the excellent Craftmanship.
  9. Another first. I've never seen a belt & pulley jig before. You never cease to amaze Dude.
  10. Well, that whole plan to get to putty and primer last weekend got blown outta' the water. And don'tcha wanna' know why? Of course you do. First, the front window will be flush fit, so I had to make a template for the inner frame. I decided it was best to do that before primer........ Then, when I test fit the anti-wheelstand system assembly, found I needed to notch the bottom of the trunk for raised body clearance. Since I wasn't busy, I decided to experiment with some aluminum heat shields for the headers. I also flattened a couple of pieces of solder for the header cross braces (not in pictures). Hopefully lastly, I need to mount the parachute pack.........as soon as I make a parachute pack.........and mounting plate...... I now predict putty and primer before the end of the week. Where have I heard that before? Is there an echo in here?
  11. I hear ya' Brad. The last thing I'd ever do is take a picture while the paint's still wet.
  12. I've figured out a way that will be a complete pain in the what what. Make a test piece painted exactly the way the tins are. Then you can test your little heart out. I'm rooting for Future actually. I've been trying to create a reason to try it and it would be much easier if someone else did it for me (us).
  13. I only love everything about your build. Ahhhh, memories. Original memories. Not YouTube reruns.
  14. Thanks some more you guys. Everyone's leaning toward Knitro Knight. I think we have a winner. Unless there are any objections? I had fun with the hinge for the roof hatch. Made the first one too big. Nailed it on the 2nd try.
  15. If Danno can get away with that, I can get away with this: Beautiful symmetry Brother. Well worth the time and effort.
  16. We all know you've got skills Paul. Welcome to the next level. Insane Skills.
  17. Thanks everybody. Y'all are as twisted as I am. joe, can i find "bat-scallops" in the seafood section? hehe. Yes Dave. They are next to the bat-filets. No, I don't know what wine to serve with them. Lazy day yesterday. On to the hatch today.
  18. Alrighty then, with the exception of some parts that are still loose and refuse to stay as posed, here she is. Next will be hinging the roof hatch, then putty and primer. Sounds like I've got my weekend cut out for me. Thanks for the votes on the name. Keep 'em coming.
  19. Although not to my complete satisfaction, I can at least use Photobucket now. Still a ton of broken links. I told Dave (comp1839), that he had inspired me to get back to the bench after seeing his mind altering clutch assembly. While that was a while ago, I have been working my tail off making Bat-Scallops on every wing they will fit on. A total of 10 so far, plus a Bat Symbol for the top of the hood. The center front and rear side wings (not the canards or rear inboard wings) will be bolted into place instead of glued on for painting purposes. I'll have pictures later today after I drill the side wing bolt holes. It will be a total mock-up before putty. Also, having had so much time between posts, I've come up with a couple more name possibilities: 1 - The original name "Gotham Flyer". 2 - Knitro Knight 3 - Bat Winged Express (ala Wild Willie) Vote for your fave or suggest something more warped. See y'all later today.
  20. attempted to replicate a meziere starter. Well, only because it looks exactly like a Meziere starter, I'm going to say, "Mission Accomplished." But only because it looks exactly like it, and no other reason.
  21. I have a new take on how this is all coming down. Tom McMullin went to the future, saw your build here and was inspired to return to the past to build the original. I can't believe he stole your design. Wow!
  22. I'm going back to the bench this weekend. Glad to have a MASSIVE QUANTITY of inspiration and motivation to take with me. Thanx Brother Dave.
  23. What a coincidence. I wanted a seat modification. Looks like a Win / Win Rob. Anybody else see primer in our future? It's got a sweet Alien / UFO look to it.
  24. Nice start and that's a Killer engine choice. I've been away from the desk far too long myself. Mostly because of a PhotoBucket issue. Why build if I can't post? Seriously considering going with Fotki. Let the creatives juices flow and just go for it my friend.
  25. With this clutch assembly, you have Surpassed the Unsurpassable. You not only Thought Out of the Box, you teleported the Box into the 4th Dimension. Although I rarely give these out, I can't believe I haven't given you one of these before. Whatever the case, 1st or 2nd time, well deserved. Astounding work Dave, Astounding.
