  1. That peacock color looks good, too! Am I actually able to purchase paint off of that first website site??
  2. Are you talking about the side shots of the body, where the line runs right through where it says "Park Lane"? I actually agree with you on it!
  3. I got lucky and scored one of these off eBay for a decent price. The chrome is in terrible shape and it's missing a tail light. Thankfully I've got 3 of the convertible version of this kit laying around and can get what I need for it. I bought this with the intention of cutting the hood out of the body to reveal the engine compartment. I'm going to completely swap the promo chassis/engine plate for one of my kit chassis. The more I think about this, the worse of an idea I think it is. What would you do?
  4. What color did you paint your engine?
  5. Looks great! I've got one of these as well, but don't find myself to be much of a Mopar guy. What did you use for the vinyl top and for the material under the hood?
  6. Thanks for your condolences haha. I hope to do a better job this time around. I think everyone has at least one of these laying around. I'll post up some pictures of the other completed parts here tomorrow. I'm considering buying the photo etch set for this car. It'll be the first time I have ever used that stuff.
  7. I bought this kit back in 2001. I dug this kit outta my mom's garage a couple weeks ago. I had originally painted it with a Testors Red and didn't like how it looked. It spent some time in the purple pond (you may begin to see a trend here) and I stripped and sanded it all down. I sprayed it with Duplicolor Primer/Sealer and will sand it down tomorrow and spray the second coat. In currently undecided on what color I should do this car in! I've been researching it like crazy and just can't choose one. Hopefully I'll figure that out soon.
  8. I was almost finished with the paint on this car and made some pretty dumb mistakes. This was the first car I chose since getting back into the hobby. She spent a few days in the purple pond and then Dawn Detergent and water. I've decided to spray Duplicolor Primer/Sealer to hopefully ensure that I don't have ant issues from the previous work. I'll sand her down tomorrow and shoot the second coat. Then it'll be time for Duplicolor Universal Black! I'm posting from my iPhone and it isn't very friendly with the text box and adding attachments. Here's some before and after and then after the strip down pictures. After those are photos with the new primer.
  9. Just sprayed the second coat of primer! Sanded down some imperfections and I will begin to shoot the Duplicolor Victory Red tomorrow, if humidity permits!
  10. Is this the 427 or the GT/GTA kit? I've got both and reaaaaally wanna get started.
  11. Hey everyone! This is only my second project I've started since 2002. My first one became a mess, so I stripped it and started fresh. This is my first attempt at using automotive paint, so I decided to try it out on a car that I don't care much about, never been a a of them. Interestingly enough, since researching the car online, I've grown to appreciate it! I hope I do it justice. I'm using Rustoleum plastic primer, Duplicolor Perfect Match Victory Red and Too Clear Coat. I haven't started sanding the body yet, so the runs on the driver's side will be going away! Between work and my girl, I'll try to update on its progress! Please feel free to criticise and give me pointers! Thanks for looking, see you around!
  12. I just stripped my 1964 Impala in purple power. It had two primer coats of Testors model master primer and three coats of Testors model master black metallic. It sat for about 24 hours and I'm happy with the results. However, it didn't appear to get through the primer. The car is currently soaking in water and dawn dish detergent. My question is this; Do I sand the body back to plastic or am I able to spray it with Duplicolor primer/sealant? Thanks for any and all help! This is my first model back after a 14 year hiatus. I've got 40 more kits waiting for their chance to be built and displayed.
