Well, I finally am calling this one done.....got the decals on, the lights, conspicuity tape,mud flaps from Moluminum, and the next stop is Under Glass! My fictional company is Readsboro Heavy Haulers, hence the name on the gooseneck. Hope you all enjoyed the build! When I get the Mack B815 done I will do some light weathering on both.

I have a Cat 320 excavator, a Cat D6T dozer, an old Hough loader and a Galion roller that can use a ride. Also thinking up some other off the wall stuff to try to scratch together.

Done with the lowboy except for decals and lights. Pretty happy with it for a first effort. Now I just have to finish the B815 it's hooked to.

Got the topcoat of dark red on it and installed the deck. After it cures for a couple days, will install the wheels and tires and decal it and do some light weathering and stick a fork in it and call it done! Now back to the B815! Am already trying to think of something else that's just a wee bit out of my comfort zone to build next.....a paver, a crane......certainly not something out of the box!

Found time today to work on the build and fought off the arthritis demons! Got all of the rest of the plumbing done and only glued my fingers together twice. Put a first coat of red on it, mixed with some flattening agent to make it cover all the nooks and crannies, and there are a LOT of them! Will do a second, darker red coat tomorrow with a bit of gloss. It's been a long road but starting to see the end!

Got the gooseneck all plumbed up last night. Having a pretty bad time with the arthritis in my hands, but, it will do. Speed of build is getting slower and slower, but it is what it is! More to come!

Planning on a dark red...thanks! Worked with many of these over the years and mainly working from memory. Actually, the bed bolts aren't bolts at all but merely drilled holes in the wood. The real ones we used had the bolts snugged tight down into the deck so this looks pretty real! We actually converted a ground bearing Model to a non ground bearing like this one so I remember a bit, but can't remember what I had for supper last night! Thanks Charlie! Much appreciated! I have someone who gives me AWESOME inspiration, by the way! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you as well.....lots to go yet! Thanks! It's getting there. The biggest challenge is to make everything work!

Made some progress.....got it to the point of adding the air and hydraulic lines. Added the outriggers and d-rings. Made up the decking with all of the bolts to hold them down. Suspension is all done along with all of the air tanks, and valves etc. Now the piping and electric lines and paint! Maybe I'll get it done this decade!

My wife shops around for the best auto insurance rates. So she found that Liberty Mutual had a special deal where they would give a pretty healthy discount off the already low rates if we installed a tracker in our car and truck, plugging it into the OBD II port under the dash. Keep it there for 90 days and if you drove safely within their preset parameters, the rate would be discounted. It tracked things like how hard the brakes were applied, how fast you accelerated etc. So, to pacify her, I agreed. We would get weekly reports on how we were doing. I LOVED it when she got dinged in her Rav 4 for accelerating to 30 MPH in 25 seconds, which was too fast! (Good thing my Mustang doesn't have a port!) I drove my truck like I had a rotten egg under my foot, and qualified for a bigger discount on my truck than she did in her car! Suffice it to say, we got a bigger discount, but if you drove the way they wanted you to to get the biggest discount, heck, it would take an hour to get up to 50 MPH! The day we finished, I went out and did a few smoking burnouts with my truck, just to celebrate.

I had a 1973 GTO that came with the 400-4V engine. The SD option was not listed on the available order sheet at the time of ordering. I understand it was an emissions issue that it was withdrawn for. I got the car at 3 years old and kept her for 30 years to the day. Knew the original owner well. He WANTED the SD, but it was not available. STILL wish I had kept that old girl, but life interferes..............!

Well, this irked me last night.............watching NBC's New Years Eve show, which we QUICKLY switched to ABC, and having Chrissy Teigen discussing "steaming" of one of her body parts.................um, no, thank you, not for family viewing. Disgusting.

And THAT question, Bill, pretty much sums up all that is amiss with society today. Well said.

I thought about doing one of those, maybe next time!

Superb work on one of the best looking cars ever built, in my humble opinion!

Here is the B815 with the detachable neck lowboy that is also occupying my workbench. Just have lots of detailing to do on that, but now that I am back to the bench, it's just a matter of time!

FINALLY fought off a spell of builder's block, and actually got back to the bench. Got the wheels and rims from Mo'Luminum, the old Mark Savage resin tires, the modified Jim Etter MTFA cab, V8 engine and the chassis all in paint. Felt good to get back at it. Probably going to paint the fenders black and then lots of detailing to do.

That is looking VERY nice! You can find a reasonable replica of the Ram Air tub for the 65 and 66 GTO in the later 72 MPC original GTO kits. Don't know if I still have any left but I will look. I made Vac-U-Form repops of them as that made them much more to scale thickness on the shell.
