1926 Mack AC Dump Truck
redneckrigger replied to Jim B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
NICE work! Love Macks of all kinds and this one is no exception. Great detail work all around. -
Nicely done......................you caught the look of the real deal.................right down to the attitude that it sits at. VERY nice!

Chassis and body all done. Just have to finish the tires and mount them and then attack the cab and the engine intake and exhaust systems. Am awaiting dremel bits to cut the glass channels for the windshield and rear window. This thing looks like a bowl full of black spaghetti underneath with all the hydraulic lines, exactly like my old truck. Am going to paint the cab red with silver/gray sides, in the factory two tone style. Am also going to try my hand at mild weathering instead of a paint shop fresh build.

Very nice work on that! Looks like a museum piece! -
I have been trying to join a site on Johnson rifles for almost two weeks. Am having the same issue, it never offers the security challenge. Gotta love this high tech age we live in, no?

How do you display your rigs??
redneckrigger replied to DrKerry's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have two barrister cases that have three sections each with glass fronts, as well as an old gun cabinet that I added glass shelves in. I also have an old china cabinet, with glass doors, and all of these work very well, keeping the models dust free and protected.- 23 replies

post just your cabovers here
redneckrigger replied to Ken Gilkeson's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That one was from Moluminum with a double turbo modification made to it. Gary Wallace, AITM, and a few others offer what is essentially the same engine, all VERY nicely made. I've made them from 1 1/2 8V71 engines as well when i could not find a resin kit. -

Very nice work...........................can't wait to see it in person! -
I finished up the lift cylinder mounting supports and the attachment for the cylinder rods to the subframe. The lift system is done, and now it's time to make up a hydraulic valve to run it all and get it all piped. Left the pivot pins removable for the meantime and will final install them after paint. Threw together a winch very similar to the homebuilt one that was on my truck, made from a double reudction gearbox and a hydraulic motor. That thing had LOTS of power! The only issue with it was that with all of the reduction ratio, it was necessary to rev the truck quite high to get any speed out of the winch. Time to move on to the piping, brakes and air lines as well as getting the rest of the frame done with the fuel tanks, air and hydraulic tanks and the engine and cab...............so much to do, so little time!

Absolutely love your rust work! -
Well, I got the subframe cross members installed and secured the extension cylinder to the bed, and also made the hoist cylinders and secured them to their pivot points. Made up the body hinge pivot on the rear of the frame. I have to finish all of the details for the pivot points yet, but the body hoists and extends as it is supposed to now. Here is a quick mockup showing the body down, lifted and extended. I also made up some u-bolts to attach the front and rear axles to the springs. It's starting to look just the old girl that used to sit at my shop lubricating the driveway underneath her, just waiting for the next to call so she could scream her song and wake the dead for miles around!

Had a similar issue recently with a resin truck cab, which had no trim line around the windows to show the rubber gasket. Thought up this tool in the middle of the night and made it the next day. Works superbly. Two completely different people with the same need coming up with an almost identical tool.......awesome!
