Tamiya 1/24 Mazda Savanna RX-7 - 1st Generation Rotary Rocket

The other thing to be aware of when masking too, is that no matter what tape you use, the longer its stuck/ burnished-down, the less time you have to get klean lines......it will start pulling away. -
I agree, bud!!

That's funny!, it sure is coming along good, thanks!.....cant wait to see what you do with the FXXK!!!
-
Absolutely LOVE it!!!, I think its odd though that the steering wheel is on that side....I'm definitely gonna get one of these!!! BRILLIANT!!!

Hey, everyone!, I am sooooo glad that i'm done with these hydrolics...they fought me all the way, but I won in the end. The only things left to do on this front cowl, is to SB the red release tabs, and final clear all the CF parts....

Believe it or not, but the freaking hydrolics units took me all day to get to this point, but thankfully, I will be wiring them up tomorrow. Its too bad that because of the kolor, scale, and sheen of the part, you cant really see all the tiny little details I've added. -Photo 5; I added PE bolts to the hinges to help with the realism, and added the bump-stops to the middle supports. -Photo 6; Here is the new, smaller door catch I SB. -Photo 7; These wire harnesses turned out pretty nice, and I cant wait to hook them up tomorrow, and finish the front cowl entirely!
-
Thanks, Kevin!, I will look forward to checking yours out! -Will it be a Tamiya kit?
-
You're doing it, bud!!…….keep up the great work!!...if yours goes good, I may get this kit myself...
-
Nice, JC!!, cant wait to see more of these!!!

Well, everybody, since finding better photos, these parts have evolved again...lol Both the hydrolic units, and the harness cover are now, FINALLY, ready for paint!!...I have also made the three main wiring harness' also. Next for this cowl will be SB the two release tabs, and re-painting the headlamp access covers....finally. I will then move onto finishing some details to the rear cowl, i.e., wire harness, window brackets, and release tabs. -Photo 5; I found a great way to replicate the wiring harness'. Tape the wires close together... -Photo 6; Brush-on Canopy glue to the desired length... -Photo 7; and when dry, paint it flat black, or whatever kolor you want.....it looks great!

You did a fantastic job here, bud!!!.....I actually prefer this kit over the Tamiya versions. Can I make a little suggestion?.....paint your front side indicators with silver paint, then cover that with clear orange. They will look like realistic lights......keep up the great work!!

These kits, and a lot of Aoshimas have what I like to call; a 3/4 engine, having just enough parts that if detailed with paint, wire, and hoses, can actually look pretty real.

That's looking great, Alex!!….I LOVE masking, even though it does take forever! lol -
Thanks, JC!, i'm actually still adding to these parts!...lol
-
I know I just got done SB these recent parts, but I found better photos to go by, and I had to change the curvature of the wire harness cover.....now its spot-on!, and I can see more of the hydrolic units, so I will be adding to those straight away before paint.
-
Thanks, Anders!!, I cant wait either!!
-
Thanks, Ray!!

Looking brilliant, bud!!….if it were me, i'd carefully flow Tamiya Extra Thin Quick-set into it as you go around it, starting with the ends . Don't tape it together until AFTER you have the glue in. if you tape it first, the glue WILL go around the tape as well! Completely glue, and tape the front, and rear, then once they are dry, do the same to the sides. If you don't put too much glue on, you should be able to wax over the seams with no visible marks. I like Tamiya liquid wax.

WOW!!….looking great, bud!!, and it looks like you had better luck with your headlamp lenses than I did.....they look like they fit pretty good!! -ya, this kit isn't exactly like the real car, but show me a kit that is, and I will show you a bunch of reasons why it STILL ISNT. I myself pick and choose what realisms I feel like adding...at 1/24 it is impossible to build it 100% realistic....even if you made it out of brass. Keep up the great work!!….I LOVE it!!!
