  1. Cool project, Bo! Surprisingly have not seen one in quite a while.
  2. Very nice, Ken. That has always been one of my favorite style of 'birds.
  3. Well done, Nick! Don't see too many '65s, let alone convertibles!
  4. Nice save of a very unusual model, well done!
  5. Having themes for a contest can work well because it can remove the objectivity from the judging and allow you to see who has the best ideas and skills in a particular area. But, it can also back-fire on you if the themes tend to be too similar over time. Also, if the themes never get close enough to member's areas of interest they may lose interest, and you may lose members. I would suggest maybe having a themed contest as a special event (like quarterly), or possibly having two separate contest at the same time, one being themed, the other non-themed. Just my opinion, others may differ!
  6. That's a shame about the set-back, Mike, but the engine and interior look great!
  7. Very nice save, Raoul, looks great! While that color may not be "stock for '60", everyone had their version of it just a few years later, it may end up being one of those times that if you don't say anything about it not being "stock color" they will never know! Besides, that car looks really good in it.
  8. That's great news, Bill!! Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery! Finding out how much you're missed, and that you got a raise ain't to shabby either!
  9. Hey, last time they did that didn't we end up with the Edsel?!
  10. Seeing some of the comments here has reminded me of exactly why I very, very, rarely ever discuss the money side of any of my hobbies, it can be a very touchy subject! (I am known to shoo the people I went to a swap meet with away from the table before I make a transaction.) When I spend any money on a hobby item it is because I have found a rare, or unusual, piece that I have spent a long time searching for that I will enjoy adding to my collection, and those types of pieces often come with a higher than normal price. Or, because the subject inspires me in some way. I mentioned earlier that I spent a rather large amount for a series of battleships, (over the course of approximately 3 years), that was because I have always been greatly inspired by the role those particular ships played in America's history. I am just as likely to leave an $18 on the shelf because the subject, while I may like it, hasn't inspired me enough to pull out my wallet. I receive absolutely no satisfaction from thinking about how much I had to spend to buy a piece, in fact, I often don't remember later on how much I had to spend on an item!
  11. That color really works on that car, nicely done!
  12. Very, very nice save Tommy! That is definitely one you don't see very often!
  13. Nice choice on building, rather than bashing that kit! I always thought the Olds stood out way more in scale, as well as full-size, than the Pontiac! Will be watching for progress.
  14. I agree, a car like that looks much better in darker, richer colors. May I suggest a dark maroon or blue body with black fenders, striping, and top. And maybe a dark brown or black interior? Just making a suggestion for you.
  15. I agree with Skip. The kits in that series are common enough that if you open it, look at the contents, and decide not to build it you will not be losing that much in the process if you go to resell it. In fact, because of known issues, it may make it a little easier to sell it if you can show someone that the contents are good. So, go ahead and open it! After all, every kit ever produced was meant to be opened and built!
  16. Very nice save, Al! Don't see too many '59s
  17. Very cool project, Wayne! Do you have a color scheme in mind yet?
  18. Very nice, Al! I have one of those waiting it's turn too.
  19. Very nice job on the pair, Yuri! The '67 looks really good in that color.
  20. Harry, I have an original Alfa Romeo Spider. It was given to me by my dad who gave up on ever building it, it was given to him by my mom for their 10th anniversary, if memory serves, she paid around $100 for it in....1973! If I get comfortable enough with my skills to attempt a project like that, it might get built yet!
  21. Bill, the background car in my picture is Tawney Beige (Ford #M1262), the one in your picture looks to be Maple Leaf (#M1264). And you are right, that is an attractive color for that car!
  22. How about one of these, Bill? The '60 was the last of Lincoln's gaudy cars, it shouts out for a very loud color!
  23. Yeah, your math is right, Greg! Not all at once, mind you, but, still correct!
  24. Great job, Emmanuel! I love cars from that era, like mentioned earlier, I get bored with all the Fords out there! I have the newest version of that kit in my stash, it leers at me every time I go into that room, but I have heard about the fit issues of that kit. You may have inspired me to give it a go!
  25. Paid between $350-400 each for resin and P/E kits in 1/350 of the battleships that were at Pearl Harbor.
