  1. When I was in high school everyone in my area thought that the Cragars were the "name brand", meaning more expensive, Keystones were considered the "imitation", meaning cheaper. So, if you had money, or wanted to show off, you bought the Cragars, if you were poor, or cheap, you bought the Keystones.I don't know if that was actually true, but that is what everyone thought!
  2. I wonder if the Nintendo executives will end up doing the same thing the Ford executives did during the Pinto debacle years ago? Where they calculate how much they would have to pay out in lawsuit settlements for the injuries and deaths caused by being distracted by this game, compared to how much revenue they estimate they would lose if they changed, or pulled the game app altogether, essentially calculating how much a human life is "worth"?!! That would really be a sign of the times, wouldn't it?!
  3. They really are quite mesmerizing, aren't they, Bruce?! Especially when you get up close to the full-sized ones! I've often found myself, at large, well-known shows, being embarrassed FOR some poor, uneducated guy, who thinks that the automobile was invented in 1964, while I listen semi-patiently to him breathlessly try to impress me with how "rare" and "special" his Mustang or Camaro is!!
  4. OK, guys. Since Pontchos are not really my area of expertise, I thought that a Bonneville was the higher end of essentially the same car as a Catalina. I didn't know that in '61 they were completely different cars! Sorry about that!
  5. Very sorry to hear that, Bill!! As the others have said, eye procedures have come a very long way over the last few decades, but having someone messing around near your eyes is never pleasant! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  6. A retro boxed version of the '34 Ford, '63 Galaxie, or '66 Merc from AMT would be a rather predictable, but welcome, addition to the shelves. A Revell/Monogram release of a Model A Woody, to expand on the trend of new/re-issued Model A kits we've seen lately should almost be expected, as well as another version of the '57 Ford. (Possibly a Ranchero or Country Squire?) R2 could easily do a quick-to-the-shelves retro boxed version of their '64 Comet as a form of one-upsmanship on Moebius' long awaited '65 Comet, to get the sales of those builders whose skill level, or pocketbooks, are not quite up to the level of a Moebius kit. Or, for both companies to get a sale, from those wishing to do a more detailed '64. Moebius has always released several versions of their kits, I would think that we will probably see a re-trimmed version of their '61 Ventura, (to Catalina or Bonneville level) fairly soon.
  7. Cool! Haven't seen one of those in a long time!
  8. Coming along very nicely, your work is always very well done.
  9. Nice job on a rather unusual subject!
  10. Very nice, Nathan. Surprisingly haven't seen one of these for awhile! For a long time the 62-66 Chevys were the most popular models out there, nice to see one pop up.
  11. Seems like a lot of us have the same idea! I also have the AMT version to do that conversion, but I also have the Revell Eldorado hardtop to bash with it because the Revell kit has MUCH nicer parts in it.
  12. Very well said, Joe! Always felt kind of bad for Collins, though. While Armstrong and Aldrin were making their "giant leaps", seeing "magnificent desolation", raising flags, and taking pictures of their boot prints, he had to stay in orbit making sure he hit all the marks at the precise moments to make sure they got home, he rarely gets the credit he deserves for his part today!
  13. Very nice, Michel! I always HATED that color combo, but I LOVE all Indy Pace Cars, yours looks great.
  14. Wow, good luck, Cary! Definitely don't see too many of those, so I see why you would try to rescue it! I will be watching your progress.
  15. Very nice! Always like seeing real classics being built, especially the ones that aren't seen as often!
  16. That is really sharp! Very well done! Is the wood grain trim in the interior painted or decaled?
  17. That is very cool, Ray! I have not seen one of those built before, it looks like a real monster!
  18. I can go either way, I don't make any decisions about it. If the TV or radio is on when I decide to start something, it stays on, if it is off, it stays off. But, when I actually lived with people, I could never seem to get anything accomplished if they were around!
  19. Sounds like I'm on the same page as the rest of you guys! I'm not a collector, I have plans for all the kits I have. As far as actual building, I guess I would be considered "intermediate". That's to say that I am amazed at some of the work I see on here, with my knowledge, and experience with the real things, and my being a perfectionist, I would really like to make models like them. But, at the end of it, I don't have the same skills as them, if I'm reasonably satisfied with it when I put it on the shelf, and if people that see it there like it, and maybe even start a conversation about cars when they see it there, then I have accomplished what I try to do when I start a model!
  20. Very cool car! You gotta love some of the kits Johan made back then!
  21. Very interesting, and cool, idea! Not very often you hear the words "custom", and "Hudson Hornet" in the same sentence!!
  22. Very nice work on the interior, Dave.
  23. Whachu talkin' about, Willis? Elizabeth, I'm commin' to join ya honney! Sit on it! It's 400 miles to Chicago, we have a full tank of gas, half-pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sun-glasses. Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son!
  24. Houston, we have a problem!
  25. Nice work, Chuck! Always like to see less common subjects.
