Well done Tulio! You have out-done yourself yet again! I can fully understand why that design continued to sell well over seas for many years after the style changed in America.

Hello, everyone. I was just curious how many of you use decals to detail your dashboards? I use the ones from BMCP whenever he has one for a kit I just bought. For a little over $2, I think they add a very nice touch to the interior! But, unless they are part of the kit's decal set, I rarely ever see them mentioned in WIP threads. I would like to know how many of you use them, or, if you don't, why not?

AMT 1957 Chrysler 300 kit tire size?
CometMan replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Michael, the O.D. of the tires in the '57 300C kit I have, (the stock one with the Coral colored car on the box), is 29mm. Good luck on your project, hope this helps! -
My point exactly, I was hoping that someone would say that was the case.
-
Nice job, TJ. That is a really nice kit in all it's versions.
-
Thanks, Rob! Not that the black one is that hard to find, but the red one is literally everywhere that they have model kits around here!
-
Thanks, Bill! I thought that might be the case, but the R2 issue seems to be EVERYWHERE, while the ERTL version would take a little more searching, as well as a mail order.

Hey everyone, can anyone tell me if I can make a stock woody with this kit? Or would I have to use this one? Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I could not find a thread!
-
Cool project, Kari! Don't see nearly as many Plymouths built as Dodges, a four-door with a 426 would really surprise the heck out of the late model wanna-bes at the light!

Sounds like she has a great head start in life! Who knows, maybe one day hers will be one of the names of elected officials we all recognize!

Awww C'mon!! Really??

It seems like the seller goes around to estate sales, community rummage sales, etc. looking for items to resell, then puts them on ebay for what he knows is an exorbitant price. I seriously doubt that price will ever go down, it will just get caught in that endless cycle until he finds his sucker who believes that anything that old must be super rare and valuable. But, Mr. O is right, the seller has had 9 IDs in his 18 years on ebay. Mostly bouncing back-and-forth between two of them every couple of years, so something does seem seriously wrong there! -
Welcome aboard, Brian! To build a decent '54 street car the easiest route would probably be to take a Monogram '53 Bel Air (which hasn't been produced for a while, but is still rather plentiful, and reasonably priced), and bash it with one of the '54 gassers. But, seeing your work here, that should be well within you skill range!

I fully agree with you, Bill. I have been involved in many other hobbies where condition is absolutely critical in determining market value. But as soon as someone finds an item in an old attic they run off to the nearest magazine stand for a monthly "price guide", they are absolutely convinced that their piece that looks like it just came out of a sewer is "worth" the same amount as the one in the guide that is basically perfect! To make matters worse, they always assume that the owner of any shop will automatically pay them what the book says for it. Just be glad that we don't have to contend with monthly "price guides" in this hobby, we generally pay what our comfort level allows for models! BTW, Bill, welcome back! Some folks here were worried about ya! -
Nice build of an unusual subject, both the model and the real thing!
-
Well done, Bruce! That is a very nice kit, and your choice of using the Coral as the main, rather than contrasting, color really gives it a much more "50s" look.
-
I agree, Bill is always ready to put his $2 worth into any topic, and his presence, or lack of, is always noticed!
-
Very well done, Ken! Definitely have not seen too many of those since they were re-issued. They really do build up into nice models.

CometMan replied to Marlowe's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Funny how the younger folks, or those with shorter memories, are so shocked to hear that the so-called "off-brand" cars were so successful on the tracks, as well as on the streets. Great to see someone with some interest in doing one! Would love to see some pics when you finish! -

Bill, glad I could help with an idea! Besides, watching you "fiddle" with things is always worth the price of admission!! -

Bill, the re-issue of the AMT Trophy Series '49 Merc Coupe has a RI engine in it, being that that kit was originally produced in the early 60s may be a little more period correct for '61 than the Charger engine. -
Rising price of our hobby
CometMan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Since my interest tend to be less-common subjects, (Buicks instead of Chevys; Mercurys instead of Fords, etc.) the "40%ers" are not of much use to me most of the time. Fortunately, my LHS usually sells their kits in the $18-$22 range which is within a few dollars of the price after a coupon at the giant stores, and I can get the kit whenever I want. Also, I tend to wait for the initial wave of "new product fever" to wear off, and the less common subjects I like to "die on the shelves", or even become a recently dis-continued kit before I pick them up, so I usually do alright anyhow. But it is very frustrating to see these companies essentially driving them selves out of business with their corporate greed! -
Nice work, Emmanuel. Always nice to see one of these made into a "real" Fury!
-
Very nice, TJ! Looks really good in that subtle color.
