  1. I agree, a sand or flesh color from the military, or railroad, paint section would probably come closest to matching that.
  2. I worked on some radial engines when I got my A&P license back in the early '90s, the were pretty interesting to work on.
  3. Nice save, Carl! I would really like to see that car come back!
  4. Very well done, Bo! Not one you see done too often.
  5. Very nice, Bill! I love those big boats! Your color looks a little to be a little too bright red for Maple Leaf, the examples of that color are usually a darker color with a more purple tint, but that could be the pictures we are seeing. Anyways, it is a good color for that car!
  6. Very well done, Al!
  7. Very nice save of a rare subject, Al!
  8. Hey, I just noticed the Van Dyke Dodge decal on the quarter panel. They are about 7-8 miles from me, I go past there several times a week and they are still going strong! Pretty cool!
  9. Nice finds there, Riley! I have to go with Snake on this one. If you are interested in a '67 Charger, but don't care which one, stock or street-rod versions can be found currently anywhere they sell models, the funny car version is rare enough that you should easily be able to trade it for something you really want. But, if you really like the funny car, go ahead and build it! It's not as if you are unsealing it for the first time.
  10. Steve, to measure rim-to-tire, you would measure the inside diameter of the tire, and the outside diameter of the wheel (the vertical surface). But, since you are working in 1/25 scale, the difference would be so small that a little material can be filed off either of them to make just about anything that is close work. So, just pick what looks best to you!
  11. Jim, since the Custom was the lowest Ford for '57, with the base engine, the #19 decal would be proper. I cannot read the writing on the #16-17 decals, but the Thunderbird engines were an up-grade from the base engine, Ford would have let everyone know that is what the car had. So, if one of them says T-bird,or something fancy about hp, etc., go with the other one.
  12. Another beautiful build from your bench, Tulio! I always thought the '60 was a beautiful car, but one thing I always thought a little strange is that the steering wheel looks like it is up-side-down!
  13. Bob, I agree with Ace. The different numbers have to be either "molded in white" vs. "molded in color", or different versions with more parts and different box art.
  14. Bill, the '59 Olds and Pontiacs were built on a longer wheel base than the Chevys, so that would not work out. But the '58-'59 DeSotos were built on the same base as the '57 300, I, as well as many others here, would LOVE to see that happen, but that would be a very small niche in the market, probably would not return R2's cost to tool. As mentioned before, the '64 Comet has been issued fairly recently, so we know the tooling for that one still exists, with Moebius preparing to release the '65 Comet, it would be a great time to re-issue that one again so we can make a nicely detailed '64.
  15. Wow! That's some kit to try as a relatively inexperienced builder, Shaun! But they do look great when done properly. Keep us posted.
  16. Hi Brad, welcome aboard! I am very intrigued with your idea for this project, but, just for a comparison, according to the Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975, there were 575,600 actual Chevy Impalas built in 1967! They are definitely not rare cars, it wouldn't take much effort to buy a 1/1 car for right around the $4000 you are talking about! But if you go through with this project I would like to see how it turns out.
  17. Very nice, Thomas. Haven't seen one of those in a long time!
  18. Very well done, Pat.
  19. Very nice save, Al!
  20. Very well done, D.W.! That one fits right in with the rest of your Galaxie fleet!
  21. There are quite a few places that deal with restoration parts for trains. The best place to start would be the ads or classified section of any model railroad magazine that can be found next to the model car magazines at any book or hobby store.
  22. Cool, thank you very much, guys! That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. It actually makes very good business sense to package several similar models together at a special price (basically buy 2, get 1 free, if I remember correctly when they were new) to move excess inventory, it is understandable that sometimes one of them was a lesser quality one. I sure wish someone would think of reviving that idea now!
  23. I suppose I should have seen that '49 Ford coming since I Just picked up the AMT/ERTL one! Fortunately I paid about what the new one will cost with the 40% coupon at H/L or Michael's.
  24. Hello everyone! I have been looking at some of the AMT, MPC 3 model sets, I was curious how the models in them compare to the individually boxed models. Are they really true 3-in-1 sets, or are they very watered-down versions of the individual ones? Thanks!
  25. Dad was a model builder and car restorer (him and I both still restore cars), grandma was very crafty. Built my first kit when I was about 5 (around '73), have been building on-and-off depending on life situations since.
